I applied for low income housing with Virginia housing authority a long time ago and I just got a letter from them this past summer saying I'm still on the waiting list and they'll be calling me eventually. I was disappointed when I saw that and I threw the letter away because I know I won't be hearing from them for a long time. I'm gonna apply for section 8 housing with Maryland housing authority soon because the lady I talked to awhile ago that works for them said their section 8 list is shut down now. So she said section 8 list is gonna open back up soon and they're gonna post a ad in The Washington Post newspaper to let people know. She said they're also gonna post on the housing authority website to let people know when it opens up. I think the housing authority in every state that has low income and section 8 take too long to give homeless and unemployed people a place to live. I've been wanting my own place for a long time and it's really sad that it's gonna take the government forever to find me a place to live. What am I gonna do if my parents die before me especially if I still don't have a full time job? Where am I gonna live?

OMG. Don't even think that. You are going to worry yourself into having ulcers or high blood pressure and have a heart attack! Your parents aren't that old right? Don't even think about them passing yet. They own the home not rent right? If they own it they most likely leave you the house or will it to be sold and you will get the money for it when they do pass away. So I wouldn't worry about that.
In the meantime follow the instructions and apply when they say to, and stay on the list. Things like that do take time . keep praying and hoping you get everything you need squared away. It's a shame to see you so upset and worried.

Yeah my parents own their house and if they do die before me, I hope they will leave it to me. But I'm worried that if they do leave it to me that I won't be able to pay the rent if I don't have a full time job by then. Unemployed people that are homeless need to be helped by the housing authority to have a place to live and it sucks that it seems the people that get helped first are the ones that got kids especially women. If you're single and unemployed and homeless, it'll take you forever to get a place to live from the housing authority especially if you're a man. I know women get helped first by them if they're homeless and got kids and that's not right.

It's really pathetic that Bonniegirl62 is the only one who responded to this because she cares about social issues like this and nobody else cares. Homelessness is a serious problem and always has been a problem that's never gonna go away unless the housing authority does a better and quicker job of placing homeless people who need housing. Unemployed people also have a hard time getting housing quick from the housing authority and I should know because I've applied for housing and they take too long to get in touch with me.
