His character on Girl Meets World (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2543796/board/thread/238316142) is arguably very reminiscent of Mr. Kotter. He's playing a teacher who genuinely cares about his students and teaches them not with mere textbooks but with social experiments. His interactions with his wife are similar to Gabe's interactions with Julie, only leaving out the corny jokes about his uncles but I can see him making those jokes. Maya, Riley and Farkle complete the Kotter feel by behaving like watered down versions of the Sweathogs.

Ok. I can see that of sorts. LOL.

I was just thinking that too. And here are my ideas on how the students are like the Sweathogs.

Maya Hart-Juan Epstein
Farkle Minkus-Arnold Horshack
Lucas Friar-Freddy "Boom Boom" Washington (or Beauregarde Delabar)
Zay Babineaux-Beau (or Washington)

They both have permed hair and wear business suits as teachers. And they are also ex-students at the same schools that they're teaching as well. Only difference is that Cory doesn't have a mustache like Gabe.
