View Full Version : Growing Pains is Coming to UP!
icecream 12-20-2014, 10:22 PM UP is adding Growing Pains to their lineup in January. It has a marathon New Year's Day from 9AM-2PM with the 1st 4 hours encoring January 2 from 5-9PM. Saturday is on 1PM-3PM and I'm assuming will be added to the weekday schedule on January 5, my listings don't go that far yet. It's about time this show aired on TV again!
DJM77 12-20-2014, 11:02 PM Cool!

You're not missing all that much. I stopped watching when they took "Amen" and "227" off.
factsoflife 12-21-2014, 03:32 PM Ironically after posting my previous message, my cable provider added UP to our line-up this weekend! i'm pretty excited because in addition to Growing Pains they also air Moesha and Judging Amy!

mets82 12-22-2014, 06:55 PM Thats good that UP gets some more programming. Always liked Growing Pains. Hopefully, we will get a full cycle of the show.
hugeFOLfan87 12-31-2014, 11:57 AM Just wanted to remind fans to watch Growing Pains tomorrow when it starts on UP TV we need to watch so we can make the reruns successful so they won't pull the show.

Its great is on, but I hate that its letterboxed. Luckily I have the complete set in great quality already. I will still try and watch, but its hard.
mets82 01-05-2015, 06:25 PM Of course, I'm in a library and Growing Pains, Leave it to Beaver and Mr. Belvedere are on!!
TV_on_the_Porch 01-05-2015, 09:29 PM Kirk Cameron was almost cool prior to becoming a sanctimonious jerk.
Family Ties Forever! 01-06-2015, 01:26 AM Cool. :) It's great That Growing pains is on.
Perfect set up with Family Ties and Growing Pains paired together. Both shows are great. :D

That's not how TV works at all. Unless you are part of the Neilson family you guys contribute nothing. Simply watching the show does not add to the ratings or success of the show in reruns. If UP removes the show it will not be because of a lack in viewing. I always watched this show in reruns whenever it aired (Ion, ABC Family, Nick at Nite, TeenNick) and so did many of my friends and family but it still got removed.
Knowing UP they will remove the show as well because they have a history of removing good shows after a few months.

Is there a reason you always feel the need to brag about what sets you have and the quality they are in. No offense but almost everytime someone brings up a show you mention that you have that show and what quality it is in.
Seems a little braggy.

I don't really see it be braggy, just proud of his collection.
mets82 01-16-2015, 05:13 PM I watch Growing Pains. I will say that UP does bleep out some words. I think the word Hell was bleeped. Can you tell me if any other words were bleeped? How about scenes? Any scenes cut?
JoshLarson24 01-16-2015, 06:14 PM I don't get the channel but it appears that they are going to ruin the show. The show never really used harsh language but they will bleep out words like hell and stuff like that. I know it is an uplifting channel but come on now. It's not like they used the word Bitch or something of that variety to my knowledge.
It is like how CTS would butcher The Facts of Life when it aired on their station. They cut out stupid stuff because it was deemed inappropriate to them.
mets82 01-16-2015, 06:17 PM Josh, I agree. Then why bother having the show air on your channel in the first place?

When UP was known as GMC they would bleep the word "heck." I think they bleeped "darn" too. There was even an episode of 227 where they bleeped the word "playboy." No, I'm not kidding.
factsoflife 01-18-2015, 09:08 PM Yeah the bleeps on UP are very noticeable and annoying. Judging Amy is nearly unwatchable on this network.
DJM77 01-22-2015, 07:25 PM I guess they didn't catch all of them because in one of today's episodes Mike said "hell" and it didn't get bleeped.
JoshLarson24 01-24-2015, 09:08 AM This used to be a great channel but it has been going downhill fast since it rebranded as UPTV.
It is on one of those sports tiers (who in the world thought that was a good idea) in my neighborhood and I refuse to pay a penny extra for garbage. I gladly paid when the programming was good.
I have the complete series of Growing Pains recorded from various stations so I don't need this channel anyhow.
Charter was smart to drop this train wreck of a channel.
MikeLutton 02-12-2015, 01:58 AM they n the 6th season already
mets82 02-13-2015, 06:47 PM I mean UP can lighten up a bit when it comes to language. I mean hell and damn I think would be ok. I've never heard of a channel editing hell and damn no matter how family friendly it is.

I remember ABC Family doing the same thing when they used to air Who's The Boss?
MikeLutton 02-13-2015, 08:23 PM good thing All in the family not on here it be butcherd to death
