She was a dancer, showgirl and let's face it-a call girl born into middle-class Wales, where she subsequently moved to London and moved in the sleazy world of upper-class politicians,to whom she offered sexual favours. She had an affair with Lord Astor and became famous for the phrase which has entered the English lexicon:"He would, wouldn't he?",when the Defence in court tried to claim that the former had denied having a liaison with her. Her friend Christine Keeler's affair with Minister of War,John Profumo, created the greatest scandal to emerge from Britain in the 1960s and led to the fall of the Conservative government after 13 years in power in 1963. Her friend, the musician Andrew Lloyd-Webber paid tribute to her undoubted intellectual talents, though unfortunately these are not what most people in Britain will remember her for.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-30547066

Didn't she star with David Bowie in one of his films? Absolute Beginners I believe it was called.

Yes she had many bit parts and was a talented all-rounder. But what an indictment of Western societies that as we tried to forget the horrors of the Second World War and move on to create a society in which family was placed at its heart, that a beautiful young girl with her whole life ahead of her should choose the sex trade with its false glamour, spivs and pimps, whose moral depravity works insidiously to corrupt us all.

Back in the mid 1970's I would love reading Richard Lamparski's "Where are They Now" Books. In one, I read about Christine Keeler and thought OH MY.
