View Full Version : Do You Buy A Calendar Every Year?
Family Ties Forever! 12-16-2014, 02:56 AM Do you buy a calendar every year?
I buy a large print one each year. I haven't bought one yet for 2015, but I will.
I know with technology on the newer phones some people just use that instead of regular calendars.
veggie-tari-jenn 12-16-2014, 03:18 AM no I usually get a bunch from the charities I support and usually get one as a gift....I am old school even though its on my phone I like a regular calendar hanging on my wall.
ponytail 12-16-2014, 06:02 AM I buy one every year. I am very picky about mine. The pictures have to be positive and make me feel good.
OH Nuts! 12-16-2014, 06:46 AM Generally not. A supermarket I frequent usually gives out nice free wall calendars. I need four calendars: one for my cube at work, one for our work pantry, one for home and one for scheduling for a volunteer commitment.
If I can't get four free ones, I make up the difference with one or two calendars from Jack's-- a very good 99 cent store not far from me.
MrCleveland 12-16-2014, 02:25 PM No...ever since I have a cell phone, I never needed a calender nor a watch.
Furienna 12-16-2014, 02:46 PM I somehow feel like I don't want to rely on a cell phone to tell either the hour or the date. So I still use old good-fashioned clocks (and a watch) and good old-fashioned calendars.
Torgo 12-16-2014, 03:03 PM Yep, my wife and I still use one to mark on appointments, important dates, etc.
Mace Dolex 12-16-2014, 03:42 PM I buy little cheapie ones at the 99 cent stores, I know my smartphone has a calendar but I like to physically write on one for future dates.
Ohio8 12-16-2014, 06:40 PM Yes. One of the first things I do on New Year's Day is taking down the previous year's calendar and putting up the new one. I take apart and shred the old calendar in a few days after the new year starts.
Penny Lane 12-16-2014, 10:03 PM Our insurance company provides nice calendars for free. I make my own for my computer room.:)
Tubehead 12-17-2014, 12:20 AM this year I got super man calendar last year was teange mutant ninja turtles the new computer nickelodeon animated TV series
JamesG 12-17-2014, 02:47 AM I usually get calendar freebies in the mail, but I would sometimes buy specialized or themed calenders if I see one that I like.
I bought KISS calenders and a Bettie Page one from comic conventions over the years.
Furienna 12-17-2014, 03:25 AM And I used to have Michael Jackson calendars back in the day.
Every year I have to buy this cat calendar, it really brightens up my day. I also buy a few mini-calendars, one for work, one for the kitchen & one for my computer desk. We usually get a couple of free ones from the bank but they're not much to look at.
robyrob 12-17-2014, 06:06 PM i usually get free ones alla time, but I like to buy a nice one with kitty cats on them for the kitchen, and I always write important dates and appointments on them
I think people rely too heavily on their phones, and its nice to look at the calendar and see what's coming up a week ahead to plan for it.
Janice 12-17-2014, 06:55 PM I have about 10 very nice full size calendars right now, plus a couple of pocket size ones. I get most of these from charities that I donate to, i.e. Easter Seals, Wounded Warriors, VFW, Breast Cancer, etc. I also get many from my freebie hobby.
Still, I like to have one that's month-at-a-glance in a book. So, I order one from At-A-Glance, the irony.
Coffeecup 12-17-2014, 10:20 PM No...ever since I have a cell phone, I never needed a calender nor a watch.
Good lord, I couldn't live like that unless I was in sparse jail cell. I must have a watch and I do use a calendar for appointments. I like to see something quickly not fumble for a cell phone. In the mail, I must get dozen calendars a year from charities. Calendars and Christmas cards were something I would buy years ago, not now.
80sTrivia 12-19-2014, 05:13 AM I normally buy a few, especially as Christmas gifts for family members.
Bonniegirl 12-20-2014, 08:22 PM I always buy one. Usually at the dollar stores. I always find cute ones there. Just as good as a calendar you would buy for more money. Maybe the paper is thinner, but hanging all the wall you can't tell anyway. Than we always get free calendars from places of business we deal with. But usually they don't have the cutest designs.
I already got a 2015 calendar from the dollar store. It has animals that you would find on an African safari. Elephants, hippos, giraffes, lions etc. It's adorable!
Flying Dutchman 12-20-2014, 10:49 PM The Chines food restaurant I order from gives me one free every year. I do buy tribute calenders. Like with Elvis, or other celebs once in a great while. I have a 1978 Calender of Suzanne Summers as Chrisy on Threes Company I received in a trade with a buddy back in high school. My brother has one of Farrah Fawcett from back in the day I wish he would give me.

Wow they might be worth some money! Collectors items. Very cool!! ;)
Flying Dutchman 12-21-2014, 02:30 AM Yeh that's why my brother won't give me his Farrah Fawcett Calender.
Bonniegirl 01-02-2015, 05:04 PM Yesterday I set up my cat desktop calendar for 2015 that I got for a Christmas present. Different cute kitty everyday!

You could still get one. And maybe they will start to go on sale too! ;)
icecream 01-02-2015, 09:09 PM I bought a Grumpy Cat calendar this year. It was awful. ;)
Foggy 01-03-2015, 05:59 PM My wife and I would be so lost without our wall calender, it allows us to keep track as to what we have to do! Thank goodness our Insurance Company still provides them for free. We usually get about four to put up throughout our house. They always have great pictures during the months of the year.
Bonniegirl 01-03-2015, 06:48 PM Our wall calendar ( Safari animals) has a beautiful cheetah representing January!
Nighthawk76 01-04-2015, 08:15 PM Yes. I bought The Goonies 30th Anniversary calendar this year!

That's the one I had for 2014; I got a different subject for this year (Peanuts), which is only the second desk calendar I've ever had.

The day to day desk calendars are fun! It's great getting a different picture every day. And the cat calendar getting the back story on how the family got the cat and cute little things the cat does and different cool things like that! :)
Dude111 04-01-2024, 08:37 AM We dont buy one EVERY YEAR but most times we have at least one laying around somewhere.....
