View Full Version : Attention Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!
mets82 12-15-2014, 06:54 PM With these Christmas movies. I can understand showing them everyday but not 24-7. I mean they started this back on Nov. 1!! I mean its sickening now. They should have there regular schedule and have the movies in primetime or something. To have the ENTIRE schedule for 2 months full of Christmas movies is annoying!!! I mean I'm sick of the movies and its not even Christmas yet. Anybody agree or disagree??
icecream 12-15-2014, 07:56 PM They've been doing this several years unfortunately. It's movie overload every November and December, none of their tv shows airing.
70s show watcher 12-15-2014, 08:05 PM I like Christmas movies as much as anyone but I agree that to run them morning noon and night nonstop for 2 months straight is WAYYY too much
quincywagstaff 12-15-2014, 08:11 PM The reason Hallmark goes into Holiday overload with 24/7 Christmas movies for two full months is to hype up sales at it's stores. It's just crass commercialism, plain and simple. Pretty soon they will be beating this horse to death beginning at Labor Day.
MikeLutton 12-15-2014, 10:43 PM there is way to much I agree with that, they show the same ol movies over and over and no variety its crazy, wish they show variety of them like some sicomes to months is bit to much though
Mace Dolex 12-16-2014, 01:16 AM You,re not being forced to watch you can change the channel.
The solution here is very simple. If you don't like Hallmark's programming, send them a card! I would pick something like this for 2015:

Tubehead 12-16-2014, 02:58 PM sorry I can't stand any hall mark movies she used to date guy back in high school then they find each other they bub into each other or find each other on the net then they go out on date then he's getting married so the girl goes after the guy but then he breaks off the marriage goes with the girl hall mark movies are basically the same movie over and over aging I did like the reading room a lot. I really don't like chick flicks much either
tvfan25 12-16-2014, 10:10 PM You're right. Even the Christmas movies are like their regular movies. A woman tries to get away from her past and moves to a small town. She meets a man. They fight their attraction throughout the movie. Finally they get together. Then they celebrate around the tree and live happily ever after. I'm sick of those movies. I like Christmas movies about Santa Claus and the North Pole. I can watch a romance movie anytime if I want. I miss Lucy in the mornings! :(

Someone would seriously have to pay me to sit through a movie like that.

What if the movie starred Lindsay Lohan and Bill Cosby? I would watch it!

Too funny! That would be a horror movie.
Their Christmas movies are way too schmaltzy and formulaic. Either someone's getting married and he or she meet another person who is actually their ONE TRUE LOVE and they end up ditching the other just in time to have that perfect Christmas engagement/wedding. Or someone moves back to their hometown to save their family's business or start over and fall in love with a friend they snubbed years ago. Or a kid wise beyond their years tries to set up their single parent with a really good love interest but the parent would rather date the town jerk.
There's a reason the Christmas movies I watch are Silent Night, Deadly Night and Black Christmas, because they are none of the above! :D
mets82 12-19-2014, 05:27 PM Not only that but another common theme is that they leave the big city to live on a farm or a small town. I mean out of all the movies that they show there are probably about 3 or 4 that'll watch.
tooltime1987 12-20-2014, 01:34 PM Hallmark Channel: Please bring back "Home Improvement" for January/February!!!
mets82 12-05-2015, 10:00 PM Update. Nothing has changed. You compare one of those TV movies to a classics like Miracle on 34th Street or Its a Wonderful Life its not even a contest.
Patty Duke 12-06-2015, 12:43 AM My solution is simple, I don't watch. Life is too short to get upset over the little things. Hallmark has made some nice movies but I feel they pump out so many sometimes they aren't worth my time. There are some Christmas movies I make it a point to see each year.
I never miss....the classic's
The Christmas Gift with John Denver
Christmas Vacation
Miracle on 34th Street
It's a Wonderful Life
The Christmas Card
White Christmas
Christmas in Connecticut
Holiday Inn
A Christmas Carol
The Bells of St. Mary's
The Bishops Wife
Charlie Brown Christmas
The Grinch
to name a few....
The best solution is just to watch something else when a channel doesn't air what you like. :snowman3:
mets82 12-06-2015, 01:19 AM You know your right. Also, you like the Bells of St. Mary's? So does my mom. You know what? It's just that Hallmark took off shows that I liked. The Golden Girls, Little House on the Prairie, Matlock, Murder She Wrote.
tvfan25 12-06-2015, 05:40 PM I like the older movies:
Santa Claus: The Movie
Unlikely Angel
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
The Angel Of Pennsylvania Avenue
The Night They Saved Christmas
One Magic Christmas
It Nearly Wasn't Christmas (wish they had this one on DVD!)
A Muppet Family Christmas (need this on DVD too!!)

Oh I love The Angel Of Pennsylvania Avenue, The Night They Saved Christmas, A Smokey Mountain Christmas and A Holiday to Remember with Connie Sellecca and Randy Travis and the one....can't remember the name but it's a woman who takes her sisters kids and hides in a deserted Mansion during Christmas because they have no money and no place to go, the sister is in rehab....heartwarming movie. I know there are others but I can't think of them all. LOL

I understand, I miss the shows too. I go to sleep listening to TV at night, it somehow lulls me to sleep. LOL Anyway, I would always put on that channel and set my TV timer to shut off the TV in an hour, Hallmark Movie and Mystery Channel is what I kept it on at night. Now I find I have to look elsewhere for my sleepy time shows. :)
They'll be back before you know it. Merry Christmas! :tree:
P.S. Your mother has good taste in movies. I have been told I have an old soul, I've always loved the old shows and movies but I'm not even close to 40 yet. The new shows hold no interest for me and neither do the new movies. I keep telling my dad that Hollywood has lost all of it's creativity, I guess because all the good ones are gone.
Crusinforabrusin 01-09-2016, 07:58 PM Tell me about it. They start these lame a** Christmas movies in October!!! I'm all for Christmas Movies, but do you really need to play them in October? By the time Christmas comes, I want them to put Cheers, Frasier, Matlock, Columbo, etc. Back on. And what bugs me still, is that they continue to play the Christmas movies, even after Christmas!!!
Hazel Anyday 01-09-2016, 09:53 PM I think it's a Hallmark war of nerves. Just how much Christmas movies can you stand. Personally I gave up in October, like others, I just skip by the channel as quickly as possible. I like old Christmas movies (I mean '40's and maybe '50's movies) but Hallmarks? Nope. Though there is one good Hallmark movie, the James Garner/Julie Andrews one where they get stuck in the snow and James falls out of Julie's small car, that's my favorite scene in the movie. But I have it on DVD so I still don't need Hallmark for that, thank goodness.
bmasters9 01-10-2016, 05:26 AM And what bugs me still, is that they continue to play the Christmas movies, even after Christmas!!!
Indeed! Hallmark ought to get a clue that, hey, it's not Christmas anymore, so let's go back to the way we were and start again next Christmas season. They won't do that, though, and it is quite the annoyance, them acting like it's Christmas when it really isn't.
Orthodox Christmas was Jan.7. Maybe they had that marked on their calendar.
Crusinforabrusin 01-10-2016, 07:21 PM Does anybody know why Diagnosis: Murder is now on in the mornings? I miss the afternoon showings so much!! I'm not home during most days and I end up missing it
Hawkee 01-24-2016, 05:26 AM I've noticed this about Hallmark Channel too and it seems that every year when Hallmark has it's 25 Days Of Christmas movie marathon Hallmark Channel starts this marathon every Halloween to honor the releases of the brand new Hallmark Ornaments each year and I've noticed that every single time Hallmark Channel debuts a brand new holiday movie Hallmark Channel only shows it once or twice a year then never shows it again and if I were Hallmark Channel I would show the holiday movies on weekends and then the weekdays would be the usual programming. Another thing I noticed about Hallmark Channel's holiday movie marathons is that Hallmark Channel is recycling the old Hallmark Channel holiday movies from 2000 to 2012 and they should debut new movies instead during this marathon. For example every time I looked at the listings for Hallmark Channel last year they showed the movies The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year Love At The Thanksgiving Day Parade and A Boyfriend For Christmas and Meet The Santas every day and I think Hallmark Channel should improve these marathons in the future and attract a successful audience to their channel
