View Full Version : Food Review: Old El Paso frozen chicken enchilladas
Wawwie 12-07-2014, 09:26 PM Food Review: Old El Paso frozen chicken enchiladas are horrendous!
I only made them tonight because I knew I would be busy watching the football games tonight and I would also be doing extra household chores. I usually never, ever eat frozen food, but this one time I made an exception and let me tell you, those Old El Paso frozen enchiladas are TERRIBLE! I thought I was eating out of a dumpster... no joke. Tomorrow, I go back to my regular home cooking.
Warning to all: DO NOT BUY OLD EL PASO FROZEN MEALS!
Janice 12-07-2014, 09:41 PM With the exception of a few Stouffer's items, I find the majority of frozen food is just awful.
Wawwie 12-07-2014, 09:58 PM Frozen food is just nasty! The only frozen food I can tolerate from time to time is "Amy's" organic meals.
Anyway, I don't know what I was thinking tonight. I was super busy, but I should have just made some grilled cheese sandwiches. That would have been better than the puke we had for dinner tonight.
Zoneboy 12-07-2014, 10:06 PM Stouffer's lasagna is real good and I also like most of the Kahiki dinners. I'll buy frozen pizza but only when it's on sale.

You should try the "Amy's" vegetable lasagna.... not bad. Of course, homemade anything is always better, but "Amy's" lasagna is okay... no chemicals, no preservatives.... everything is organic.

Amy's is too expensive for me. $4.29 at one store I shop at for a 6.0oz box of pizza rolls. A 7.5oz box of Totinos is $2.19 but I can get them for .50 cents each when they're on sale 10/$10 with double coupons and less than that with triples. I would like to try some of Amy's products but it's got to be within my price range.

True, any "Amy's" entrée or even the soup is crazy expensive. But Amy's does make a good mac & cheese. I don't know if you ever had it. But my homemade mac & cheese is better! :) Well, now I know for sure that "Amy's" is the only frozen food that I can tolerate once in a while. But you are right about the price. Even their frozen pizzas are like $7.50 or eight dollars.
Bonniegirl 12-08-2014, 12:45 AM I never heard of Amy's. maybe they don't sell Amy's out here?
I think the best frozen food is Marie Calendars. I like her frozen fried chicken patty, mashed potatoes and corn entrée especially. I also like her Lasagna a lot!
Stouffers lasagna is good too. Also a lot of the Stouffers lean cuisines are tasty. The other day I had Stouffers Lean cuisine meatloaf and mashed potatoes! DELICIOUS!!!!! Trouble is lean cuisine being a dietetic food, portions are so small. I wished I had another one!!!!
And since childhood I have LOVED frozen pot pies!!!!! chicken or beef. Any kind, Swanson, Banquet , Marie Calendars! ;)

Amy's is the BEST frozen food. I thought you mentioned you live in California... surprised they don't have it out there.

You probably just never noticed. I don't know how supermarkets work in California, but here in New York there is always a separate aisle for Organic Foods... and that's what "Amy's" foods are. They are all organic, but they are expensive. They sure do taste good, so you'd be getting your money's worth.
