View Full Version : Nick@Nite has shocked me tonight by airing a scene with two women kissing
TVFactFan 11-29-2014, 04:08 AM isn't this supposed to be a family network that is picky about what they air which is why they didn't air certain eps of Three's Company? But the network shows two women making out in a episode of How I met your mother? lol
As they say in the hood in 2014.........IM JUST DONE lol
I thought I would only see something like that on
HBO
Cinemax
Youtube

TKMetal 11-29-2014, 12:09 PM Or on network TV. You know LA Law and Roseanne both had it in episodes 20 some years ago? Nick At Nite also ran that Roseanne episode.
Dude111 11-29-2014, 12:33 PM It must have been a mistake!! (Like the time I saw a R rated film on disney channel one night (Havent ever seen another))

But this was a long kissing scene between two women
EmoJoe 11-29-2014, 02:11 PM It's not 1998 anymore. The amount of people who care about two women kissing is getting smaller and smaller.
tvfan25 11-29-2014, 05:51 PM I know I don't wanna see two women or two men kissing. I don't watch How I Met Your Mother anyway. I don't even watch Nick at Nite anymore. It's all crap except The Fresh Prince.

Well I actually liked it lol Which is why I was surprised it was on N@N
cleverfun3000 12-01-2014, 08:53 AM As long as the women were beautiful, I have no problem with watching an extended scene of them kissing. If they were ugly or if it were 2 men instead of 2 females, then it should have been shut down and all sponsors boycotted.
Patty Duke 12-01-2014, 12:28 PM Because of the content of a lot of the current TV shows, we avoid most. I won't judge anyone for their sexual choices because I'm not God and it's not my place. I live by the, If they aren't hurting me or anyone else, it's none of my business....rule. I have some gay friends and I have no problem with it.
You know there is always a but.... so here it is. I don't watch shows/movies that show people doing 'the wild monkey dance', nudity....a lot of cussing etc... and we all have a choice, my choice is....I don't have to watch.
A quick kiss is one thing but making out, I personally think we don't have to put everything out there, I guess that's why my family watches very few current TV shows. :)
TimOhara123 12-01-2014, 02:59 PM They are losing rating so they figure that will bring people back. The problem is shock value doesn't last.
I'm going to cut the cord for good once my Sat deal is over in 18 months and I have enough stuff to watch that I won't even miss it.
tenter 12-01-2014, 04:34 PM You know, I haven't watched all episodes of How I Met Your Mother, but I'm not surprised it's showing gay kissing scene. Nick at Nite has been getting lot of unecessary heavy edits but THIS should've got to need to edit.
Friends few episodes have gay kissing and so does George lopez but only for one episode about men gay marriage only that was george's dream

yeah N@N is known for cutting stuff out but left that in? lol

I hope you were just kidding, because that's one of the stupidest things I've ever read.

two attractive women kissing is a turn on to most straight men

I'm one of them...damn my subconscious!

It's a "bit" surprising, I guess...but as Emo Joe said, a lot of stuff that seemed so controversial years ago is almost passe now, and it's probably a good thing in this case.
Besides, I remember when kisses in sitcoms could REALLY be shocking... :)

True...even back in the 50's, pregnancy was a giant shocker! ILL had a few eps involving Lucy having a baby!
But...abortion is STILL taboo even to today! FG's "Partial terms of Endearment" had to go straight to DVD rather than be aired on FOX (which airs taboo shows already) and that was 2010! And the ep where Maude got the abortion was aired in the 70's, but boy...did CBS have some controversy!
king of comedy 12-02-2014, 05:51 PM 2 women kissing isn't such a big deal today. If it's handled tastefully, I'm fine with it.

Yeah, they sure did, I remember it well. Today's shows are willing to use adult material for shock value, but it's pretty rare to see them try to do something mature with it like Lear did back in the day.
MacLeaper 12-03-2014, 01:06 PM I'm not really surprised by this. I was more surprised that "How I Met Your Mother" was on Nick at Nite to begin with. I'm not surprised such a scene is present in the show though. Honestly, I'd rather not see that on television myself (which is why I don't generally watch that show, though I have seen it a few times here and there. It can be quite funny when they keep things clean. And I do like the theme song, although it's quite brief.)
I wish homosexuality was not encouraged in this way, but these kinds of television shows are reflective of the reality of society today and I understand that. I know The Bible teaches that acting upon such sexual temptations and desires is a sin, but I also know it is illogical for me to get upset at non-Christians for not acting like Christ. I need to get the plank out of my own eye first before I try to help get a speck out of my brother's eye.
So that's one reason why I don't watch such shows and I'm selective in what I do watch (usually consisting of reruns of classic shows I like on DVD:) and very select current shows:) ).
But everyone can choose what they want to watch, of course. Some people obviously have very different perspectives on sexuality and I understand that. And freedom of speech is an important right that Americans enjoy and TV shows have the right to depict such scenes if they choose. And those who approve are free to watch and those who disapprove are free to not watch.

No, I meant how the poster said that if the women were ugly or if it were two men kissing it should be banned. That was a sexist comment.

in all honesty, I didn't think no one wanted to see two men kissing but GAY MEN:lol:
factsoflife 12-06-2014, 04:24 AM Yes, Nickelodeon is a family oriented network; but historically Nick@Nite has always been geared more towards the adult audience. Even some of the "family friendly" shows they aired in the past like Roseanne or The Cosby Show often contained scenes that most kids wouldn't understand; heck they've been running Friends on the network for awhile now and nobody complained.
It's really not a big deal. Also, its not like there aren't 1,000 other places for kids programming.
