I never understood why so many stations decided to air a marathon of a show on Thanksgiving Day when you are around family chatting and eating dinner. I mean besides the football game on Thanksgiving who else is watching TV on Thanksgiving day? Seems like it would make more sense to air a marathon the evening before Thanksgiving so that people will actually watch the marathon. And TV land is airing a Thanksgiving marathon on Friday, the Day after Thanksgiving? Why?

So has anyone ever watched a marathon on Thanksgiving Day? Now I can see catching the end of a marathon around 9pm but between 12pm and 7pm I just can't see a lot of people watching TV land or any other station for a thanksgiving marathon

The only things I watch on Thanksgiving Day are the Macy's parade and the dog show. Football is the one thing that is not on my TV on Turkey Day.

I think stations air marathons because people aren't really watching TV and they don't want to air anything of importance that day.

Actually TV marathons make a lot of sense; during the long prep for dinner, there's a lot of short down time moments. They're too short to linger or pay attention to the TV, so sitcoms or movies you already know by heart are good ways to relax.
Plus, there are a lot of people who are alone on the holidays. They deserve to get some viewing choice that day.

I mostly never watch marathons unless of course its A Christmas Story that gets show 24 hours on TNT or TBS so I can watch that at any time.

USA is having a Modern Family marathon but in this case I'm just DVR'ing the episodes I havent seen yet to watch another day.

This year, there is going to be a marathon of Dennis the Menace on Antenna TV. I like Dennis the Menace, so I might keep it on while I do my cooking.

I've watched parts of marathons on Thanksgiving, would rather see that than football. Antenna TV has had some good ones with I Dream of Jeannie and Leave it to Beaver.

I remember watching a twilight zone marathon on thanksgiving day in 1981

I watch the true crime marathons on Investigation Discovery if they have them. I also like the Twilight Zone marathon that Syfy does on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Other than that, marathons are pretty lazy programming but I can understand why it's done.

I usually watch Macy's Parade in the morning and the Dallas Cowboys game in the afternoon after I eat. I'll probably catch some of the Dennis the Menace marathon on Antenna TV later in the evening after things have winded down because I like that show but I won't be watching it in the day.

I used to watch KTLA's annual Thanksgiving Day Twilight Zone marathon but haven't seen it since I got rid of my satellite dish. The only way I'd watch a parade on a holiday is if I've got a bad case of insomnia.

The Macys Parade always starts (At least for the TV Audience) at 10:00 AM EST.

PS. :angryfire SHAME :angryfire on Macys for opening on Thanksgiving! :nonono:

TVLand was going to have a Cosby Show marathon, but cancelled it at the last moment.

Marathons are good to watch (espeically the family ones) when you sit down in front of the boob tube with your Swanson's Turkey TV Dinner. :(

TVLand pulled Cosby Show reruns AND NBC scrapped the sitcom featured Cosby because of the news of Bill Cosby rape allegiations that were all over on news media

We dont need marathons on Thanksgiving. EVERYDAY they show marathons now. I understand why they do it on Thanksgiving. I mean people are probably not going to be watching TV anyway so why show your regular lineup?
