View Full Version : semi OT: can you still trade/watch Cosby?

I'm sure most of you have heard about the allegations against Bill Cosby. While the claims are unproven, that there are so many women (I think the count is now in the 20's) all with similar stories, and Cosby himself remaining tight-lipped on the subject, it would seem to me that Cosby is, well, a creep.

Which brings me to my question: are you still able to watch/trade Cosby and perhaps, disassociate him with the roles that he played? Honestly, I would feel uncomfortable for various reasons trading out his shows. I had no problem ditching my Cosby Show dvd's as I always felt the show was unfunny and overrated. However, I've found that the show he did in the 90's is harder to part with, partly because I'm such a huge Madeline Kahn fan, and it took a lot of effort for me to get all the episodes through at least 3 separate trades.

I hope this doesn't delve into an argument about whether or not he is guilty, but am just questioning things like re-watch value, etc. Thank you.

Cliff Huxtable or whatever character Bill is playing is not a real person. I watch a character, not a real person so I have no problem still watching his shows.

Honestly, I don't care what he did or didn't do. BUT, the one thing he DID DO was give us quality TV to watch and for that I will always like "The Cosby Show".

Suspecting what you suspect now, you can watch The Cosby Show for moments of previously-unperceived irony and hypocrisy.

And can you still enjoy Baretta with Robert Blake or The Naked Gun with OJ?

That's a good point, but OJ's wasn't a starring role, plus I seem to recall him getting abused in those movies, so that could actually be enjoyable.

I find the fact that Cosby played an OB/GYN to be mildly terrifying.

You don't care that he might have horrifically raped a bunch of women and children? My God, try thinking about someone besides yourself for a change!
