Penny Lane 11-21-2014, 10:17 PM This thread is to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the assassination of John F Kennedy. Please let's not turn this into a political thing. This thread is simply meant as a memorial so please, please ,please , lets keep it that way!
I was 13 years old at the time and in my 8th grade Math class when the principal made the announcement over the school's PA system. That day and that weekend is still etched deeply in my memory. What a shocking terrible day that was! I was glued to the tv for 4 days.:(
Here are some photo's .
Mr. Television 11-21-2014, 11:48 PM Those are great pictures Marlene. :)
I think that day was when America really lost it's Innocence. Pres. Kennedy was killed 2 years before I was born so I don't remember him. My Mom would often tell me that she was watching As the World Turns at the time when the news broke. It must have been an awful time. :(
Regulus 11-22-2014, 12:03 AM Four years ago this past Halloween I was on an Amusement Park hopping trip in Texas. In addition to the parks I visited some appropriately "haunted" sites, one of which was Dealey Plaza in Dallas. If there are any places that are haunted Dealey Plaza is one of them. I swear I could hear the screams of people who, while watching or waiting for the the presidential motorcade found out he had been shot. It was a dark time in our history, but we had other dark days in our past, which we overcame. We will have dark times in our future, but we will overcome these as well.

Dealey Plaza would make a good episode of a Ghost Hunters investigation

treky 11-22-2014, 02:21 AM I wonder if J.R. or any of the other Ewings or any of the Barnses were in the crowd when he was assassinated? I wonder how they broke the news at Ewing Oil? I wonder what Jock and Ellys reactions were?

Janice 11-22-2014, 05:58 PM It was such a sad time for America. Everyone mourned him, regardless of politics. I can't watch the film that shows his assassination. Poor Jackie. :(

Yes, poor Jackie . She went into a deep depression. Imagine reliving that over and over. :(
irehtman 11-22-2014, 11:28 PM I pray for a future elected US president to be 41 years of age, survives by getting reelected at 45, becomes a lame duck at 49 by leaving the white house completely and dies beyond 50 years of age!
