This may be a false alarm, but this could be a potentially interesting development in the Tara Calico case. Several days ago, skeletal remains were found in a shallow grave near Belen around the area where Tara Calico was last seen:

Now, thus far, nothing is known about these remains (i.e. their sex, age, etc.), so there is no evidence that they belong to Tara. But this would completely jibe with the Valencia County sheriff's theory that she was accidentally run down on the day she disappeared and that her body was buried was in the same area where she went missing from.
I'll certainly be keeping my eyes on this story...

I saw this over on WS. It would definitely go with the Sheriff's theory, though I'd be a bit surprised if the grave was so shallow that it wasn't discovered until last week. I hope there will be answers for a waiting family sometime soon, whether this is Tara or someone else.

Very interesting. Debra Landsdell went missing in the same town but in 1985. Hopefully this will give a family some closure. Here is Debra's Charley project page http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/l/landsdell_debra.html

I really hope there is a break in the case so we can see if the Sheriff's theory is correct or not.

Tests reveal some answers about the human remains found in Valencia County last month. DNA tests show they do not belong to Tara Calico but investigators are now wondering; who do they belong to?
The bones were found several miles from the Belen airport by some people out walking in mid-November. The bones included a skull and upper torso and were close to an old bunker and it was clear the bones were quite old.
Tara Calico’s case is an outstanding missing person’s case in Valencia County, she went missing in 1988. Investigators chose to test the DNA of the bones right away to see if it might be her.

Ah, that's too bad, the circumstances seemed to fit perfectly for the remains to be Tara Calico.
Much like the recent situation with the John Doe in the William Bradford Bishop case, that's two very famous cases I was hoping to be solved, but were debunked by DNA testing.

Bummer.
I still think of that Polaroid, even though I don't think it depicts Tara. I just want to know what the Hell is going on in it.

It is a bummer. I really thought this could really be Tara, especially since the remains were found in the west mesa of Belen. When the case reopened in 2013, the investigators heard over and over again that Tara was taken to a party in the mesa, then raped and stabbed to death.
About the Polaroid, i really wish it was just a bad joke. However i don't think it is. I think there was something sinister going on. Apparently the unidentified girl was also seen on the beach in Port St. Joe, Florida on June 15, 1989. Accompanied by several older Caucasian males, who appeared to be ordering the girl along the beach front. If that sighting is true, i think this was a kidnapping scenario. There was also another Polaroid found of the same girl found near a residential construction site in Montecito, California. On the other side of the country! However it was never released to the public. Hopefully maybe they will show it in the Tara Calico documentary that is coming out in the next year.
