I'm getting anxious. I really hope they don't give up on the series and finish it soon.

I hope Shout! doesn't give up on individual season sets and focus all their attention on complete series sets. I really want the rest of this series released!

I love the series sets, but I REALLY want Newhart completed!

Seems as though no more seasons of "Newhart" will be coming any time soon from Shout! Factory. I received this response when I asked them...

Regarding Newhart, we only have the rights to seasons 2, 3, and 4. Fox controls the home video rights to the remaining seasons (and season 1).

This is a true shame. They should've gotten the rights to the full series and released a complete series set like they did with so many other shows. Now seasons 5-8 stand a chance of never getting released. Oh well, at least half of the series is available to own. I'll just be thankful for that much.

Interesting...I wonder why the seasons were sold off separately like that! Complete series box sets are a big ticket item, spreading around the ownership like that makes that very improbable. Shout did a great job with Maude, I hope they are working behind the scenes on Newhart!

The did separate season releases for a few other shows: L.A. Law, Mr. Belvedere, My Two Dads, Webster...those are the ones I can think of right now but I know there's a few more.

There's always the risk of Shout releasing a complete series set before returning to seasonal releases..

like how they didnt have the rights to the latter years of the Facts of Life... Mr. Ed... then boom! complete sets followed by seperate seasons.

Now Season 5 came, hopefully Season 6 this fall and Seasons 7 and 8 out next year.

I'm hoping the remaining seasons are released soon. This is one of my favorite shows.

I really could never get into this show, so it doesn't matter to me. However, I still hope they will get on the ball and finish this series for the people out there who really like it. I just hope Shout can finish off Mr. Belvedere, Diff'rent Strokes, and Webster, then look at getting some new shoes.
