What did you think of this episode?
Cold open - A drink with Barack Obama and Mitch McConnell, had a few funny lines, Jay Pharaoh and Taran Killam were good in this somewhat predictable bit.
Monologue - Woody Harrelson, he's an old stoned hippy - we get it. Nice to see Jennifer Lawrence, the two of them are just goofy together and she was fun just being herself.
The Dudleys! - This was a weird phaux-mercial, it had a few funny lines (the little girl saying "I'm gonna be late for Afghanistan!"). Overall moderately funny.
Match’d - a good sketch making fun of how ridiculously stupid MTV, its programming and characters are. I really liked Cecily Strongs lines in this one.
A New Day - I liked this one, all the stoners come out with their new-found freedom, Pete Davidson stands out in most of the skits he is in.
Halftime Locker Room - weird sketch, but I always like it when they just let Keenan run wild and take over a sketch.
Young Tarts & Old Farts - some of the pairings were too predictable, but this had some funny twists and good impersonations.
Kendrick Lamar - I don't know who this guy was, but it's not really my thing so I skipped past it.
Weekend Update - was Colin Jost even there? I liked Michael Che's bit with the African Pigeon in a Dashiki and a few others. Leslie Jones was hilarious (and CRAZY) - she basically saved the update this week. "Matthew McConaughey" and Woody Harrelson talking True Detective wasbasically Taran Killam doing over-the-top McConaughey, which was moderately successful and entertaining, the best part was watching Woody try not to laugh.
Bar - a bunch of guys reminiscing about how things used to be in this city? Not as funny as Woody Harrelson complaining about the poor state of crack nowadays. The Ralph Nader button was magical.
Campfire Song - this was weird and goofy and weird. Was this the fourth time Woody picked up his guitar tonight? He wasn't actually playing it, he was too busy with that crazy song about apples I can't get outta my head.
Kendrick Lamar - I didn't even try to listen to this one.
Last Call Bar - I like Kate MacKinnon; even in a slower sketch she manages to bring the crazy and makes it worth watching. I think Woody's best of the night, a lot of great lines and some very uncomfortable face mashing through a square foot of saran wrap.
Overall - a good episode but not Woody's best. I still think that the cast as a whole is not completely gelling together, they have a lot of funny people but they don't always use them to their best potential and the writing can be pretty lazy sometimes.
