Is it true that this version of the Beverly Hills, 90210 theme song, which was written not by John E. Davis but by Jeff "Skunk" Baxter and Stacey Widelitz, was only used for "The Green Room" episode in the show's first season (1990-91)?

This question goes out to all of you who paid attention to watching the 1st season of the show on FOX.

Thank you,

Ben (Frosty81)

I can't say for sure, but I think it was used for like half of the first season and then replaced with another version. But truthfully, I really am not sure.

This issue of theme song replacement seems to be a baffling one, especially in reruns. The BH90210 pilot episode, "Class of Beverly Hills," actually replaces that in reruns with the version of the John Davis theme as heard on the second and third season episodes of the series.

To use another example, the original version of the Star Trek (The Original Series) title theme first had an electric violin playing the lead melody which is still retained on the episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before" and which was used for four other episodes during the original NBC run and extended to four more episodes in syndication, but Fred Steiner's cello mix replaced that version on those eight episodes when the series was remastered in 1984.

The pilot episode used the song from season 1. The Green Room episode used a different song.

Now, Frosty, when your talking reruns, are you talking about the episodes that air on POP? Because those, I think, are from the DVD releases because the music is different and dubbed over on the POP episodes.

Also, a lot of the edits used for local syndication are different from the ones used on cable reruns. I know I noticed differences between versions that used to run on FX and SOAPNET and the versions used during local syndication.

I liked when they aired on FX. I mean the music dubbing is very distracting and plus like I mentioned above you have scenes airing out of sequence.

I was talking about those reruns that aired on FOX and later on FX. Yes, I did hear the special theme music on the "Green Room" episode.
