the biggest african american sitcom of the 1970s verses the biggest african american sitcom of the 1980s. which show did you like most?

i was born after the first few seasons of the jeffersons came out, but that show was never shown in the UK. but i watch the episodes on youtube and i love it so much. i prefer it over the cosby show.

the cosby show was interesting and amusing in places but i think it is overrated. sure the characters were more wholesome and in a positive light to demonstrate blacks can be successful, but i don't get all the hype.

also fans lauded it because it was the first show that depicted a middle -upper class family.

i totally fell for the humour in the jeffersons and laughed so much, whereas that wasn't the case with the cosby show.

When watching the jeffersons, I almost always enjoy it. and while I have not really seen the Cosby show, from what I have seen it is just a standard family show. no substance

I always enjoyed the jerffferon's more the cobsy show I never could stand bill cobsy I never under stood why he was so funny. I didn't even like fat Alberta cartoon

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Never thought Cosby was all that, even long before all his Preditor history became public.

I liked 2 episodes of The Cosby Show 1) the episode where Cliff is teaching Theo about finances and 2) the one where Theo's teacher stops by the house.

The Jeffersons. I only lasted two seasons into The Cosby Show on first run before bailing. I hated how phony baloney the show was. It was like a throwback to 1950s sitcoms when everyone walked around in their Sunday best and grinned all the time.

Apples and oranges. Seriously, they are two totally different shows, other than they were both 1970's black sitcoms, and the Mike Evans connection. I liked both pretty much the same, but for different reasons.

The Jeffersons was a direct spin-off, and Good Times was a spin-off of Maude, which came from All in the Family.
