Absolutely my all time favorite western tv series!! Loved everything about this show, from the well defined characters and the writing, even through the final season that only used brother Bart. True my first exposure to the show was on a cable channel in repeats, but I enjoyed it enough that I was completely looking forward to and enjoyed the tv reunion movie THE NEW MAVERICK.
Unfortunately, my local CBS affiliate never carried the spin off series YOUNG MAVERICK. So I have only seen a couple of episodes that aired way back when CBS had late night movies, not talk shows. Pretty good. I hear that this series is gonna be released through Warner Archives, no date known.
BRET MAVERICK was a pretty good series. Bret was older, ready to settle down. I did think the supporting cast was to bloated. They would have done well with Bret, Tom, Silas and a female or two as possible love interests for Bret and Tom. They were shoehorning in too many characters every week.
