I must say I am not a super fan of Westerns...but some shows are so well done with heartthrobs and fantastic actors that you just throw away the rule book. Bonanza is such a show. I never fail to be immensely entertained and in suspense whenever I watch it. It kind of reminds me about people who say I hate musicals but love Singin' In The Rain. Some shows are SOOO GOOD they transcend their genre.

Another western I liked was The Adv. of Annie Oakley. I came across it on a DVD Nostagia set from the 50s. Don't know why--well, actually, yes I do, I loved the way they showed Annie as being smart as a whip. Given the time the show was set in (mid/late 1800's) Annie's shrewd deductions rival Columbo's. Sorry for digression folks...back to Bonanza...a bonanza of great entertainment!

Michael Landon was so handsome when he was on Bonanza. Don't get me wrong, he was handsome in LHOTP and in his later years, but if I had been a lot younger and had watched Bonanza on a regular basis... believe me... it would have been to see Michael every week! :eyes:
