View Full Version : Was Chrissy really the funniest of the blondes?
I think though if I have to choose between Chrissy, Terri, or Cindy, overall I would have to go with Cindy.
If we're talking about sexiness, of course not Cindy. Chrissy is the sexiest (but only in Seasons 1-2). But it's a sitcom and my primary concern is with who makes me laugh the most. Cindy made me laugh the most. Chrissy's dumbness to me was more frustrating than amusing.
No Cindy wasn't as sexy. She was tall and awkward and always beating up Jack. But that's what made her prime comedy material. Is it really possible for a woman to be sexy and be totally goofy and ridiculous at the same time? Since it's a sitcom, goofiness matters more to me than sexiness. I never thought Suzanne was as sexy when she started playing up Chrissy's goofiness. Then Chrissy was a joke, no longer sexy.
I would definitely take Cindy over Season 4 Chrissy as far as humor goes.
Terri might have made a visual impact on the screen but she was a total zero as far as comedic impact went for the show.
JackJanetChrissy 10-22-2014, 01:22 PM I think Chrissy was the funniest, only because she blended with the other two characters seamlessly, especially season 1-2 Chrissy. The early episodes relied on that ensemble, whereas later seasons brought in other characters and locations to create humor.
There are some fun Cindy episodes, but I found Jennilee Harrison's horrible acting really annoying and distracting. And the character was nearly as ridiculous as season 4 Chrissy---come on, can ANYONE be that clumsy and survive to the age of 20? It just reminds me of what a genius John Ritter was at physical humor....yes Jack was clumsy but that wasn't who he was.
Terri was funny, but she just seemed to be there to fill out the trio. You can't really point at something and say, "That's so Terri" like you can with Chrissy or Cindy, and the farce format really demands strong characterizations.

Well it's clear that Cindy had to be written in a hurry, so she didn't have the time to develop like Chrissy. Still, I find Cindy opening the door into Jack's face a lot funnier than Chrissy not understanding something and having to have Jack and Janet explain it to her.
JackJanetChrissy 10-22-2014, 09:46 PM Yeah but Cindy had zero finesse in doing anything else besides opening doors on people. Most of those stunts were Cindy entering or exiting a scene, which means timing wasn't even much of a factor. Which means there wasn't much talent involved.
Wawwie 10-25-2014, 06:22 AM IMO, Chrissy (Suzanne Somers) was the funniest, sexiest and most talented. I thought she was a good comedy actress. For me, Cindy sucked. I didn't find her to be funny at all. She annoyed me. And her acting was horrendous. Teri was barely okay, but I never thought she was too funny.
BTW, JackJanetChrissy, I agree with you about Teri. You could never point something out and say "That is so Teri." Now with Chrissy, you could definitely do that. Teri had no signature qualities. I don't think Cindy did either besides her outrageous clumsiness.

Chrissy was not "dumb" at all. She was very naïve and took things literally.
king of comedy 10-25-2014, 07:16 AM I'm going with Chrissy.
comedyfreak 10-25-2014, 07:45 AM I'm going with both Chrissy and Cindy since I like both. Chrissy was established but there was still a connection in that both characters were related to one another.
LittleRickyII 10-25-2014, 02:16 PM Chrissy by a long shot. When Suzanne Sommers was taken off the show, it lost something that it never got back. Terri was fine as a replacement, but not nearly as funny as Chrissy. As for Cindy, my opinion hasn't changed since the first time I saw her on the show in 1980: terrible. The problem with the character is that the person playing her simply could not act. I always felt that the only reason Jennilee got the part was they had a sudden and urgent need to fill the part of a third roommate, she was available on short notice, and she had a great body. She was hired for her body, not for her acting skills because she had no acting skills.
