View Full Version : What Restaurant Franchise would you like to see in your area?
MrCleveland 10-21-2014, 04:54 PM Okay, not all regions have the same restaurant franchise. Where I'm at, there's an Arthur Treacher's but not a Hardees. Where someone else lives, there's a Jack-in-the-Box but not a Rally's. Or there may be a Lion's Choice but not a Popeye's! This also works with sit-down restaurants too...there could be a Bob Evan's but not a Shoney's.
There were even some restaurants that were once in your location, but now you have to drive at least an hour to get to them because they've been gone for years! Where I'm at there used to be a Ponderosa and Home Town Buffet in many places, now you need a road trip to get to these places!
And there's some restaurants that are long gone like Sisters and Cookers that we remember...what restaurants would you like to see in your area, have back, or have returned after being doormat?
Zoneboy 10-21-2014, 06:21 PM Restaurants we used to have that I wish would come back:

Wow. A lot of these places.... I've never even heard of.....
I never heard of Lion's Choice, Bob Evan's, Home Town Buffet or Sisters and Cookers...
I've heard of Hardee's and Shoney's, but there has NEVER been one in my area.
I don't care for chain restaurants. I don't consider it "real" food. I guess I'm a snob when it comes to food.

Taco Cabana
They Smoke Taco Bell!
Vahan 10-21-2014, 07:43 PM Who here remembers Pioneer Chicken?
They used to be everywhere in Los Angeles and its suburbs. That's one franchise I wouldn't mind see return, mainly because I've never had their fried chicken before.

Taco Bell? Why don't we all just eat out of dumpsters?
Penny Lane 10-21-2014, 08:42 PM Red Lobster. The closest one to my house is about 25 miles away. There is only one in Flint. There should be at least 2!
And I really liked Bill Knapps but they went out of business years ago.:(

.
Lion's Choice is from St. Louis, like how Mr. Hero is only in Cleveland.
Bob Evan's is regional, there's a few in Ohio, Michigan, western New York, The DC Area, and Florida.
Hometown Buffet used to be in the Cleveland region before it went bankrupt in the 2000's...now there's only a few.
Sisters Chicken is a defunct restaurant that was only in Cleveland and Columbus.
Cooker was a regional restaurant as well having locations in Ohio and The South. That too is defunct.
And that...is my 7777 post here!:D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Wawwie 10-21-2014, 10:00 PM ^^^ I'm in Long Island, New York.... never heard of any of those places. But I was curious so I did look up the menu for Hardee's. Too many choices. Just too much stuff.
Years ago when I was a teenager, I used to drive down to North Carolina a few times a year so my friend could visit her family. We would usually stop at Hardee's on the way. I haven't had Hardee's since I was about 20. And I guess I thought it was okay back then, but now I am in my mid forties. There is no way I would eat from a chain restaurant nowadays.
But anyway, I never heard of those other places you mentioned.
Bonniegirl 10-21-2014, 11:20 PM Gino's was a great fast food place in the mid-Atlantic region until it was bought out by Roy Rogers many years ago. They're trying to start it up again.
I remember Gino's from back east years ago. I also remember Roy Rogers! I didn't realize Roy Rogers bought out Gino's!
Hardees is Carl's Jr. out here on the west coast.

I wish there was a Long John Silver's nearer to where I live. We have them out here, but none close to me!

We still have Home town Buffet out here in California! ;)
I'm excited Grand Rapids is going to be getting a Dave and Busters. I've always wanted to go to one it looks like so much fun.
ponytail 10-22-2014, 06:02 AM I miss Bob's Big Boy. We used to have them here, but they all closed. I think there are a few left in Calif.

Janice 10-22-2014, 12:03 PM Red Lobster and Olive Garden. They advertise heavily in my area, but none are close. Not a restaurant, but I'd kill for a Wal-Mart. I've been to one just once, in New Hampshire.
MickeyMac 10-22-2014, 01:57 PM We used to have two Big Boys here in Kalamazoo. Wish they were still here.
Wish we had a Waffle House.
Marvo301 10-22-2014, 02:01 PM I wish we had an Arbys around here!

^ We have 3 Wal-Mart stores in our average size city and another one in nearby Oak Grove, Ky. I'm surprised every city doesn't have at least one. Are they not as common in the northeast as they are in the south?
I'd like to have a Rally's here, they have some really good burgers & fries. They have one in Hopkinsville, Ky and one in Bowling Green, Ky. When we're up that way we usually stop there to eat.
Ohio8 10-22-2014, 05:15 PM Hardee's.
Ohio8 10-22-2014, 05:16 PM More Dunkin' Donuts. There's only one in Toledo.
Zoneboy 10-22-2014, 05:43 PM I wish we had an Arbys around here!
I love Arby's, but Hardees' roast beef sandwiches were much better. They stopped serving them years ago although I've been told that at least one location still does in Virginia.
mets82 10-23-2014, 04:29 PM I wish there was a KFC and Taco Bell. They were right near I lived and then they shut down. Also, I wouldnt mind a Long John Silvers where I live. I dont think there is one in CT. Also, I'd like to see a Blimpie's and Quiznos. Once again, they were in my area and then closed.
Ohio8 10-23-2014, 07:26 PM Arthur Treacher's and The Cheesecake Factory. There are still Big Boys in the Toledo area, but the one near my house closed a few years ago.
comedyfreak 10-24-2014, 06:50 AM I think my post got deleted, I wish there were a CICI's Pizza in my area.
isiahthomas 10-25-2014, 12:22 PM I don't know what's the deal with restaurants closing in Warrensville in Cleveland because there used to be a Ponderosa and Bob Evans restaurants on Northfield road and Miles road and both of them closed. Ponderosa got closed in the 90's and Bob Evans got closed several years ago which surprised me because Bob Evans used to get a lot of business whenever I would drive by there. I went in Bob Evans a couple of times when I lived there and I love their French toast and sausage patties. There also used to be a Ponderosa in Garfield Heights on Rockside road and it's closed. There's a Bob Evans here in Maryland and it's in Waldorf which isn't too far from where I live. I haven't been there in a long time but I did go there once. I also miss this restaurant called Shakey's that used to be in Alexandria, Virginia in the 80's and 90's. It closed a long time ago. I loved their all you can eat buffet because they had pizza, tacos, macaroni and cheese, lasagna, fried chicken, spaghetti. I haven't been to a restaurant that has a all you can eat buffet like Shakey's.
Dude111 11-08-2023, 10:25 PM I would love it if these came back to my area!
Ponderosa
Bonanza
ponytail 11-09-2023, 06:29 AM Frontier Pies and Pioneer Pies. Really good food and pies.
Bill Johnson's Big Apple, one of our local restaurants.
