"Doll & Em" Renewed for 2nd Season

Britcom "Doll & Em" has been picked up for a second season by the UK’s Sky Living. Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells star in the series they co-created.

The real-life pals set the original season in LA, but the new installments will travel to New York City as the girls prepare to take on Broadway.



As with the first series which included appearances by Andy Garcia, Susan Sarandon, John Cusack and Chloë Sevigny, a number of high-profile Hollywood actors will make surprise cameos.

HBO acquired the first season last year and aired it March. International distribution for "Doll & Em" series 2 will be handled by Sky Vision.

"Doll & Em's" Second Season Picked Up by HBO

"Doll & Em", the British comedy series written by and starring actresses and real-life best friends Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells, has been picked up for a second season by HBO.

The show, from UK broadcaster BSkyB, was already renewed for a six-episode second season by Sky Living in the UK in October.



The six-episode Season 1 of "Doll & Em", which debuted on HBO in March, explored what happens when a Hollywood actress hires her childhood friend as a personal assistant while making a film in Los Angeles.

It featured guest appearances by Andy Garcia, Susan Sarandon, John Cusack and Chloë Sevigny.



In the second season, Doll and Em write an off-Broadway play together in an effort to do something creative on an equal footing. They manage to hoodwink Evan Rachel Wood and Olivia Wilde into appearing in it, with Wood playing Doll and Wilde playing Em.

Ewan McGregor and Mikhail Baryshnikov also guest star.

Season 2 of "Doll & Em", starring Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells, will premiere Saturday, September 13 at 10:30 PM on HBO.

Guest stars on the six-episode second season include Ewan McGregor, Olivia Wilde, Evan Rachel Wood and Mikhail Baryshnikov.
