My thoughts on Return Of The Turks:

I didn't really care for this episode about two men who decide to drive like maniacs because they are going through a mid-life crisis. The only thing that saved it for me was when Ponch and Jon rescued the girl in the iron lung. Ponch's rendition of Rumpelstiltskin in the ambulance was adorable and I loved when the girl kissed the guys on the cheeks in the end. Is it me or did the ambulance drive seem totally unconcerned about the girl?

The part about the man issuing traffic tickets in Ponch's name similar to "No More Pickpockets," a season one episode of Car 54, Where are You?
Why can't I find someone to take over my job voluntarily?

Yeah I didn't think it was that great of an ep either. That man was pretty much an a$$!!! I mean a mid life crisis is one thing, but hey if you kill somebody by causing accidents on a freeway, you are looking at life in prison or he could have gotten killed himself! Didn't seem like a bright thing to do just out of boredom!! :confused:

Ponch is so good with kids. I love when they feature children in the eps. Jon is too! He was so sweet to that girl. The Rumplestiltskin story and telling her she looked more like she was going to turn 15 rather than 13 on her B'day!! Nothing more flattering when you are a tween, to have somebody say you look older, esp a hot older guy! :) Remember that ep where the baby was left behind at the truck stop, and Ponch just fell in love with the baby!:) He wanted to hold her all the time. And he was a natural, he was adorable with that baby! And he even convinced CPS to let his neighbor who loved kids and had a lot of kids already to keep her! And he even babysat and brought her a teddy bear!!! Things like that make me really love Ponch!!!:) Nothing better than a guy that is handsome and hot but still very down to earth and a sweetheart! From what I am reading on the internet that is pretty much Erik Estrada's real personality. He has the kindest, sweetest brown eyes, and such a friendly smile! ;) :)

Another saving grace on tonights ep was Ponch looking hot playing pool!! ;)

Wasn't he a father too? ( I should record these episodes instead of relying on my awesome memory. ) You would think that would have made him more sensitive to highway fatatalies. I feel like this was a plot more suitable for a darker show, like the original Hawaii Five-O.

Ponch is so good with kids. I love when they feature children in the eps. Jon is too!

So far, I feel like Jon isn't given as many opportunities to do charming stuff like Ponch. He was cute trying to speak French in "The Sheik," but the girls made fun of him at the same time. He ended up with the girl anyway, so it all worked out.

He was so sweet to that girl.

I've been thinking about that girl. It seems kind of odd for a young, American girl to be in an iron lung in the late 70s. I assumed she had polio which would have been seen more in the 40s and 50s. I guess they needed something to add to the drama of having a pile of pipes on top of her. :lol:

It was the bigger lighter haired guy who was the father. (At least he came to his senses, and grabbed the key out of the ignition) .;) They didn't ever mention if the other guy was a father or not.

I have NO idea why the girl was in an iron lung??? But yeah I guess to make the show more dramatic! ;)

I love Ponch with all my heart, so I'm not complaining, but it sometimes does seem unfair to Jon! It does seem like the cute and cool stuff revolves around him more than Jon. There of course being a personality clash in real life. Larry was more a no nonsense more serious personality and Erik has a really big , bubbly personality. :D Larry was hired first and he was supposed to be the star, and Erik was hired as the second billing, the sidekick. But it turned out Erik got more fan mail. And I guess the writers went to where the money is, and it ending up being more about Ponch than Jon.

And Ponch is so funny and expressive, when they encounter the pretty girls he is all grinning and pretty much letting his feelings show ,:D where as Jon even stays reserved than!!! One ep recently that Jon got the attention, his neighbor's teenage daughter had a big crush on him. Even went to his apartment in the middle of the night, and than had a table set for them to have a romantic dinner and everything. Jon, of course didn't take advantage or lead the young girl on, but she had a romantic image of him. But my point being it was Jon they picked for the girls crush and not Ponch!:)

An ep that Jon gets the girl is coming to mind, it was either last week or two weeks ago, She was a pretty blonde divorced lady with a little boy. ( The little boy was really into motor cycles) When Jon and Ponch met her, Ponch right away pretty much said to Jon, go for her, she is your type.;) Jon asked her out to a picnic and Ponch babysat the kid at the picnic. Well Jon got the girl, but still it showed Ponch's charm by being so good with the kid!;)

I liked the Rodeo ep tonight. I was wishing Ponch would have ridden a horse though!!! This ep really featured Jon and his rancher/rodeo skills it was cool.;) But still I wanted to see my Ponch on a horse. Maybe Erik declined, he grew up in Spanish Harlem,NY city wasn't to used to rodeo's and horseback riding!! LOL!!! He would have been adorable though! :eek:

Today's episode was really good with the whole car theft auto ring and we got an earlier look at Randi Oaks who plays a different character here but we Chips fans know she goes on later in the series to play officer Bonnie Clarke (kind of weird how guest stars would come back as a different character).

I loved Down Time too! It's my favorite episode of CHiPs so far. I liked how suspenseful it was and that the entire force got in on the action. Don't you love how even after losing his $83 dollar Firebird, Ponch still finds the strength to smile? :happyface

I loved this ep! Ponch did keep a good attitude, esp. being that his car got stolen right when he was ready to go on a trip! Poor baby and breaking his pinky finger. I wanted to kiss it and make it better! :lol: It was so sweet of him too, that even after he found out that Kim was in on the theft ring, he still was compassionate when she said her father had died. (naïve but compassionate). :D

And what a dedicated worker he is. My gosh, when he was told he had 5 days off vacation coming to him , he was hesitant to take it. WOW if I was told that I'd be jumping up and down! :D

I don't know what MeTV will do, but I think it's a good sign that CHiPs is on its second rotation. I don't think MeTV changes programming in the winter, except for holiday stuff. The big changes come in January.

I guess we won't know if MeTV will start over with Season 1 or go to Season 3 until we get to the last Season 2 episode. I sure hope it goes to Season 3! They don't show the later seasons of Bonanza which drives me crazy.

I read that Randi Oakes is married to Gregory Harrison. She's like the luckiest woman in the world! He was soo cute on Trapper John M.D.

You know I noticed they edited/blurred that out too.It's very odd Me-TV did that considering it was ok to show back in 1978 when the episode was made.

I can't wait to see Thursday with Ponch's mother! I wonder who will play her?

I am reading Erik Estrada's biography , and he just adored his Mother. She was the most important person in his life. :) She was a good lady. His Dad was a drug addict, who abandoned the family when he was really young and his Mother stayed really strong and raised him and his sister really well.;) Erik also loved his Grandfather very much too!:)

And he really loves children too. He has three, 2 boys and a girl! :)

We are already to Thursday. Here's what I think so far.

Mon. - That was a bit too intense for me. I'm already afraid of being in a major accident on the freeway, and that ep was ALL about that , with the fatalities. I prefer to take the streets, but sometimes you have to drive on the freeway. If I'm on a long trip going out of town or something . I start to get nervous. And I didn't like seeing Sindy injured like that! The reenactment was pretty cool though! ;)

Tues. - This ep was BORING!!!! I couldn't really get into it at all. I didn't like that old rich man, and the story just went nowhere IMO! It was funny that Jon got to play the chauffeur and Ponch thought he was "stuck" babysitting. And she turned out to be a grown girl! I thought they would have done more with that. But the girl complained about having to stay in the house. OK, if Ponch was "babysitting" me, I sure wouldn't complain about having to be stuck in the house.!!! :happyface That "babysitter' and I would have LOTS of "activities"!!! :lol: :D

Wed. I liked this one. I liked that older cop ready to retire , he was so cool. And that poor lady that had to give up her house and animals was really sad. It was so cool how it worked out! ;) I love animals and heart touching stories!!! :)

Yes!! Exactly!!! I love when it focuses on Ponch and Jon, and them pulling people over and like you said lighter crime topics. I love to see them bantering with the criminals too and flirting with the girls of course, and when it gets into their personal lives. I know it's a family show , so it can only stay PG when it comes to them and girls. :D But being that it is a family show and kids watching. I don't see at all how kids would have been into Monday or Tuesday's eps at all! Maybe Monday for boys seeing all the action and crash ups, but Tuesday, if that bored us and we are adults it would have really been a snoozer for the kids. :( IDK if I was having an elderly moment or a blonde moment , but I was having trouble even following it! :lol:

Wow I think were all in agreement that the episode with Ponch and Jon going undercover as bodyguard and chaffuer was terrible, in fact I hardly remember ever seeing that episode as a youngster.

The MAIT team multi car pile up sure was pretty intense but all investigation being done about the accident was pretty cool.

OMG!!! Thursday's ep was FANTASTIC!!!!!;) I give it 5 stars!!!! Now THAT is the kind of CHIPS episodes we are talking about!!!! I was in heaven, being it was so much about Ponch! I liked seeing him with his mother. So sweet! :) Mrs. Poncharello was so young and pretty! And the crime story of the day wasn't too deep! It was also so cool seeing how things have changed since than. Wow a drive threw bank , and being able to go right up to the gate to pick somebody up at the airport!!! ;)

And OMG the square dancing!!!! I LOVED it!!!! Ponch looked so HOT and he can DANCE!!!;) I loved the jeans, vest and boots! And the Sarge square dancing!!! That was funny, it's weird seeing him doing anything like that!:D He didn't have the right clothes on though! And IDK why they didn't have Larry in this scene. It would have been adorable with Ponch and Jon , and Jon decked out in western clothes too, being he is from Wyoming! ;)

And it was perfect yesterday! Perfect day to put on a good ep. Thursday night football. My husband came home from work and went right in the bedroom to watch it. It is annoying when he comes home and if he's in a bad mood, it's like dealing with a two year old in need of a nap when I am trying to watch Erik Estrada!!! :mad:

I watched this show regularly when I was young. I just caught an episode on Me the other day and all I can say is wow. There is a whole lot of man-candy in this show. I had no idea. I see it in a whole new light as an adult. :lol:

I have a question? Did they show that ep with the dog? The first clip from the video I posted? It had to have been a season 1 or an early episode because Ponch still lives in his trailer and Jon has the little car not the blue truck. I KNOW I would remember that one if Ponch was running out of his trailer in boxers and a helmet! I'm wondering if they didn't show it? There was one day I missed Chips because of stupid Time warner Cable. Couldn't get METV and a couple other channels one day! I'm thinking it was that ep I missed!!! DANG!!!!!

It was like the kind of Chips ep we all like!;) And being at the beach, GidgetGrape, it had a Gidget feel to it. Like a Gidget ep with crime! And besides seeing Ponch's "scenery" :D , I liked all the California coast scenery it was showing to show off out beautiful state! And officer Bonnie premiered (always nice to have a namesake) !;) Does this mean Sindy isn't on any more though? :(

I'll tell you if my hubby hadn't been home, when he came out in that speedo, I would have jumped through the TV!!! :eek: Good thing they didn't show it on a Friday when I'm drinking, I just might have!!! :lol:

Yeah, it is strange that Sindy just no longer was in the series? And Bonnie wasn't even introduced! She was just standing beside the car with Bear, like the way Sindy did, as if she was in the series the whole time! Being that this is the first time I'm watching Chips, if I hadn't read here about Officer Bonnie I would be like who is that? And also being that she is the same girl that was on the other side of the law a few eps back! :D

Funny you should ask about the guys hair!!! I was going to make a thread about Ponch's hair, well actually Erik's hair. But I didn't want to look too obsessive and nutty! :D But since you asked, Mace! :D He has BEAUTIFUL hair. Naturally curly, but very soft curly . Not wiry curly hair. I notice everything about him. His hair isn't always the same, even looks different in the same ep. He blow styles it and depending on the weather , when he last got a haircut, and helmet head LOL it make his hair vary! I LOVE when they show him after he has been in water, and his hair is really curly!! HOT!!!:happyface But it was the late 70's, early 80's and poofy blow dried styles were what was happenin! His hair was styled nice for the time. I prefer his natural curly hair better. OMG if he let the hair grow long and left it natural OMG, but than I would love him even if he were bald!!! :D

I like Ponch's sideburns that he started growing longer in season 2 ! And Bear's hair sometimes looks darker than other times. Maybe the time of the year, and how much he was in the sun. He has really pretty hair too. I always liked curly hair on men! ;)

One of Erik's first rolls in the Cross and the switchblade, he was only 21, his hair was really curly in this, and it was before he had dental work too. He was so young and adorable!:) Well Mace, you asked, and I just about wrote a book here!!! :lol:

I saw part 1 yesterday of the roller disco. Really good ep. ;) Leif Garrett guest starred. Very cool! My gosh it's a shame what happened to Leif. He got so into the drugs! :( Such a cute, talented kid and he didn't end up so well! :confused:

My gosh!!! There sure were a lot of famous guest stars! I just got finished watching Part 2. Very cool ep!! That made me really nostalgic for days gone by. Roller skating was so much fun, and seeing all those old celebrities!

All week was really good!!!! I already posted about Mon. & Tues. roller disco. Wed. was good, I don't remember the crime story really, but the highlight for me was Ponch had a date, and it showed him kissing the girl!!! Lucky girl!!!!! OMG she thought they were going to a football game ( LOL , wow, sign of the times, the Rams haven't been in LA in over 20 years now)! Ponch had other ideas, staying in watching the game , and he made hotdogs and popcorn!!! Come on Ponch, where is the wine and romantic music? LOL!!! But as hot and smooth as he is, I would even be "in the mood" with popcorn and hotdogs!!!

Thursday ep was awesome , so intense!! I was in tears!! The fallen officer and Bear being injured!!! WOW, this really showed Erik Estrada's acting skills. He was so deep an intense in this ep. Larry too. Both Erik and Larry really played the roll of grieving policemen when one of their own passes in the line of duty!!!! Very heart touching, good, intense ep. Off the usual Chips light heartedness, but a really good ep! And OMG when Ponch was in the gym, shirtless, punching that bag!! HOT HOT!!! My heart going pitter patter!!!

And tonight was good too! Loved that little person, he was so funny ! And a lighthearted fun ep. And Ponch dancing!!! And there you go, he had this date back to his place for some wine!!! OMG, the fantasies I have of being on a date and drinking wine with Ponch!!! And by the way, he isn't really an Aquarius!!!! Erik Estrada is a Pisces!!!! And he seems VERY much like a Pisces too!!! He has a very wide range of emotions typical of Pisces people!!!

Monday and Tuesday. Ponch injured in the hospital. That was really what was going on. Erik had an on the set motorcycle accident while filming. He got seriously hurt. He was in the hospital for a while. I was reading in his biography , at one point they really didn't think he would make it. He even had an out of body experience, like "going towards the light". Thank God he ended up OK. So the hospital stories were really based on what happened. How lucky those nurses were that he was kissing and the mean old nurse Betty Jo , that was funny!

Wed. and Thurs. at the stock car races. IMO they weren't the best eps. Except for of course Ponch being adorable, and seeing him slow dance with that lucky girl. And a very young Tracy Gold appeared in this ep. She was so cute. And the tall, cute curly haired guy, OMG he played Billy Lewis on the Guiding Light!!!

And Friday, I was having cocktails and getting buzzed so let me even try to remember the ep? LOL!!! Oh yeah Ponch back from his sick leave and on desk duty, flirting as usual being adorable. And a visiting cop who was too strict!! LOL Ponch having his shirts custom made, and being made to go back to the regulation shirts!!!

Yeah, that ep wasn't that great! I thought that too, it was so focused on guest stars and not the Chips regulars that it did seem like they were trying to get a spin off series started. It sure could have been wrapped up in one ep! When it said continued at the end of part 1 , I was like UGG. Another day of this! :confused: Only thing cool for me was seeing that actor. the guy with the curly hair (a very young Jordan Clarke ) who joined the cast in the 80's of a soap I used to watch , Guiding Light and a very young Tracy Gold. And of course seeing Ponch. I did know that Kelly Harmon is Mark's sister. She is pretty. So at least there was eye candy for the guys! ;)

That's why I've always only been more of a casual fan of the show.It's still an entertaining show though,and Larry Wilcox and Erik Estrada are great on it,and the rest of the main cast are also good.

I agree. I love Chips but some of the eps have me shaking my head and thinking, hmmm!!!:confused: I love the main cast too! I don't like when the story revolves too much around the guest stars and takes focus off the main characters and totally goes off the topic of highway patrol! :confused: The little side stories are cute and entertaining, like when Ponch and Getraer were square dancing and things like that, as long as it involves the main cast members. That race car driving was boring and dragged out!!! :(

It seems every cop show in the 70's and 80's needed at least one episode to feature car racing.

Man what is it with a string of bad episodes lately, first we had a couple of racing episodes then the one with those two bratty kids getting kidnapped in the back of a car and then another racing episode with dirt bikes, trucks and off road vehicles.

That "Off Road" episode so far is possibly the worst so far of the entire series, Ponch and Jon werent even in uniform and why would the CHP bother with some dudes sabotaging a dirt skirmish? MeTV is still on season 3 so I dont remember if the further seasons have any stinkers.

I thought the same thing, oh great more racing! :crazy: I'm finding myself sometimes getting bored watching CHIPS lately. Some eps are really good but some just aren't IMO! I'm wondering how much a fan I would be if Erik Estrada wasn't in it. I find myself waiting for the scenes when he is shirtless , just out of the shower in a towel or in a speedo , or him making out with girls ( me wishing I was the girl):happyface LOL, or any scenes that revolve around him in general more than anything else about the show! :lol:

I haven't seen CHiPs in a while- I'll have to remember to look for it on MeTV- I love that series! As far as I'm concerned, I'll happily take even the episodes fan consider the worst over most things on TV today.:) :cool:

I missed that one. I missed a couple eps due to being at my hubby's relatives over Thanksgiving holiday!

This last week, the ep with the kids in go carts and the lady driving into the lake was OK. Seemed more back on track. Not so boring. It showed the streets of Silverlake, which is a cool, hilly section of Los Angeles. OMG and when Ponch was rescuing the lady from the lake, that was sexy!:) I was like I wish I was her! LOL!! Not that I'd want to be drowning, esp in a big van! But I'd love to have Ponch come and save me! :D

And the ep with the CHP officer that had the brain disorder. WOW, that was a heavy episode! :eek: At first I was like wow the guy is bi-polar! Manic depressive as they called it back than! I was thinking that was really heavy, Chips dealing with mental illness! Than when it was revealed his eyesight was affected, I figured it was a brain tumor or some brain disorder. Showed off Larry and Erik's good dramatic acting skills. They were like WTF??? The scene when they were having dinner at Jon's and the guy wanted to pay like he was at a restaurant. The look on Jon and Ponch's faces! :confused:

I really liked the ep with the farmer / trucker and his sister and that other girl getting Ponch into the health foods. :) Reminded me of the older Chips more fun eps! ;)

Yeah that was a pretty good character driven episode, if an episode like that were done today it would carry over at least 4 episodes and probably would've had a more emotional impact if it happened to a series regular like Baricza, Fritz or Grossman.

The two part all star ep- The Great 5k race and boulder wrap party. Pretty entertaining. A little too much like the 2 part all star roller disco eps though! It's so beautiful in Malibu, but showed the down side of paradise with that rock sliding. That would be scary!

And OMG the short-shorts that Ponch and Jon were wearing when they were assigned bicycle patrol. I mean JEEZ!!! Could they be any shorter and tighter! As much as I love Erik and I have no complaints about seeing his body , in this case less isn't always the best! Thank God men's styles aren't like that anymore. So tight, looked uncomfortable !! Their 'goods' were so smashed down. OMG I'm surprised Erik and Larry were able to father children after wearing those shorts!! LOL!!! ( Thank God it didn't cause permanent damage, Erik went on to have 4 kids, and Larry had several too) !!! LOL!!

Glad we didn't have to see Grossie's pale white legs in little shorts! :D :p A shame for the guys that Bonnie wasn't in short-shorts, but Mace that ep had plenty of eye candy for the guys. Lots of girls in bikinis and little dolphin shorts. ;) I'm glad Bonnie is growing her hair out. It looks a lot better than her short haircut! :)

Today's ep was good! All those babies!! :) Remember I posted that pic before of Ponch and Jon holding the babies? I was looking forward to this ep! It was so cute that all of them were holding babies. Two at a time. I wonder where Gidgetgrape is? She was like me, wanting to see this ep! ;) And that drunk driver . What an a**hole! I mean who does that!! If you had a few too many and you were with a person who wasn't drinking. HELLO!!! Of course let them drive. And if you were alone and must drive, don't go swerving and speeding. I mean come on , try to keep it cool. He really was THAT drunk?? Esp. when the cops already had there eye on you before for drunk driving. :confused:

Even stupider were those dumb cheerleading girls just risking their lives hanging out the windows a second time when they were already pulled over before by Ponch and Jon.

I've noticed how TV dramas back in the day relied heavily on one-off characters that weren't part of the series huge ensemble but that were needed for that weeks episode.

For example we see Jon getting friendly with that cute district attorney woman and yet this is the one and only episode that she'll show up, totally forgotten by next episode.

Oh Totally!! And even when that drunk nut was behind them beeping, they were still goofing around , hanging out the windows. I mean come on get back in the car, pull over and let the nut pass, or turn on another street!

Yeah Jon was wining and dining that district attorney. He knew his wine, he was all smooth. I was like Go Jon, get her!!! But of course like you said it went nowhere. And this is the first and last time we saw that pretty nurse Ponch was dating in the ep too. She looked cute with him, they both had a lot of teeth! LOL!!! When Ponch was smiling and making faces at the babies through the window of the nursery! LOL!!!!

Ever notice how they seem to get the same guest stars playing a different role at times, the most notable of course being Bonnie Clarke who before joining the CHP was in an earlier episode as Ponch's neighbor that stole his car playing a different character.

Funny would have been for Ponch to say to Bonnie, "you look very familiar, did you steal my Trans Am once?" LOL!

I liked Monday and Tuesday's two part eps. Ponch's Angels!Training the two female rookies. Erik was at his FINEST here. I loved seeing him in authority! OMG he could train me anytime he wants! I loved him being a little rougher than his character usually was. Even though the girls really weren't following his orders!! LOL!!!!

Good story and Ponch was so HOT, OMG the end of part 1 when they were kissing. they really were going at it! I was like THAT LUCKY GIRL!!! Only thing was that was it, I think they could have done more with that! In real life they wouldn't be able to just stop so easy if they were attracted to each other. Esp. if they weren't supposed to/aloud to be together, it would even be hotter and more exciting, harder to keep from going further !!!

Really good eps. And I'm sure for the male viewers , there were pretty girls in this ep.

Yeah the women were pretty attractive but again I don't see what the point of having them there since they'll disappear by next episode.

Also I think the episode was done maybe to compete with Charlie's Angels, I mean the long flowing hair isn't probably regulaton standard.

This dog was actually Erik's pet. He found him wondering around while Chips was filming on an outdoor location all skinny and mangy.:( He took him to the vet and cleaned him up and kept the dog as a pet.;) I read that in Erik's biography. How nice is that? Erik

I just found out Captain Getraer and his wife Betty are really married in real life!! Betty being in a couple eps lately, and I like her, so I googled the actress Gwynne Gilford , and she and Robert Pine /Joe are really married. And they didn't meet on the set, they were married since 1969 or something. Isn't that cool? They cast his real wife as his TV wife!

I liked the ep yesterday where Joe was in the hospital. Intense ep though and my Ponch wasn't in the show much. I was already drinking because it was New Years eve and I was getting all emotional as if he really was in the hospital and the victim of foul play! WOW and A Martinez was so good as the young doctor, when they were trying to revive Joe, I was almost in tears! Good ep, good acting! And the other ep where Joe and his family were being harassed by the ex con he arrested was really good too. I also liked the ep that featured Baritzca and his parents. It was nice seeing Barry featured so much in a story, he's usually so much in the background! The ep with Joanna Kerns and the accident reenactment was a real snoozer/dull ep I thought!

I have this weeks episodes in my DVR I'll try catching up this weekend hopefully.

They showed the pilot episode yesterday for new years day. It was so good!:) The first season IMO was the best. I still like Chips but after seeing that ep again, it has lost some of it's luster down the line. Ponch was portrayed as a big, flirtatious goofball and Jon and him had more chemistry, plus Larry's hair was shorter. ;)

Yeah and it's sad too because it hardly was noticeable on screen, I guess that's the sign of good acting. But I think they've made amends ever since the CHiP's '99 TV reunion movie.

But then again there was a small reunion of sorts I believe at Los Angeles LAX a few years back with most of the surviving cast but Erik was a no-show.

Have you heard about the on going feud between Erik and George Lopez? According to George, Chips was filming in his neighborhood when he was a teen and he spotted Erik and went up to him and Erik pretty much "put him off" and refused even to shake his hand! George's feelings were hurt and when he became famous he got revenge by dissing and making fun of Erik in his stand up routines and esp. when he got his own talk show!

Erik claims that isn't true, and doesn't remember this at all! I'm thinking if it did happen maybe it was in the middle of filming and if Erik did stop and talk with George it would have interfered with the set and filming or something? Now you know I am partial to Erik, I pretty much LOVE this man, from all I know and have heard and read about him, he is a cool, friendly guy, nice to fans! Plus he has a big ego , and loves to be recognized! Also Erik is a poor barrio kid from Spanish Harlem in NYC. I really don't think he would intentionally diss a poor barrio kid from East LA, such as George. I think he would want to be a role model, and be nice to a kid from a background similar to his. This is out of character for Erik, but George claims it happened . So I think it was some type of misunderstanding, but George held a grudge for years, and Erik thinks George is an A hole for making fun of him in his comedy act and stuff! So they pretty much hate each other!

Yeah I've seen George diss Erik in his stand-up routine, but it's coming up almost 30 years since the incident who knows who is telling the truth? I know George being a kid back then probably took it personally but both he and Erik should talk it out, in fact I don't think they've even come face to face now as adults.

It's been over 30 years now! That is a long time. It's George who seems to be keeping it going more than Erik. I'm wondering if George was being a smart a$$ or coming off as one and Erik thought he was heckling him or something, and he just brushed him off thinking George was just being a little punk or something. Yeah those eps started yesterday! I think there are 8 altogether. It sure is missing something IMO without Erik.:( Bruce was OK though. OMG it is sad to see what became of Bruce! He looks so bad and frail now, too many botched plastic surgeries . And he is so whipped by Kris Jenner! Seems their marriage wasn't too good for a long time, he seems so unhappy! Looking at Bruce yesterday on Chips he looked so robust and healthy. He was a big athletic guy, he's like a shell of himself now! :(

I'd really like to see a "behind the scenes" movie about what was going on with Erik and Larry back than, and the new blonde guy in trouble with the LAPD , and explaining why Sindy was replaced by Bonnie with no explanation, Etc. , wow lots of drama! ! Oh I know, and pre-teen girls too! :eek: For instance when I was about 10 and the Partridge family came out, myself and lots of girls my age LOVED David Cassidy! He was well into his 20's. And he was in like every issue of 16 magazine and Tiger beat. Pin up pictures and all for us to hang on our bedroom walls! :)

OK why are Erik and Bruce Jenner BOTH on the same show sometimes? I am really confused!!!! I mean I'm not complaining as long as I get to see my Ponch! :crazy: Like yesterday I started the weekend early. Opened up a big bottle of wine at 4:30! By 6:00 well lets just say I felt pretty good! :D And low and behold there was my Ponch on the show, and Bruce too though ! It is an extra treat when I get to see my Ponch when I'm buzzed! :D Anyway, I can't even remember what the story was about? Alls I remember is Erik and Bruce were both on the whole show, even in scenes together! Even my husband who wasn't buzzed was like there are too many people on this show now! LOL!!! :crazy: :D

The country singer ep. I didn't find her singing to be that great! I liked the little romance that was going on with her and Jon though! Very little, yep gone by the next episode. And poor Jon always seems to get the short end of the stick. He kept missing her singing even! :(

Bruce Jenner being a track star Olympic gold winner in 1976, he was popular as an athlete and had a fan base. But by 1981 or so I really don't think he was that big of a deal anymore. No offence to him. But yeah I guess he was trying to break into show business. There was a labor dispute on Chips and Erik walking out, and they really didn't want to replace him. Cause if they did they really would have picked somebody closer to EriK's looks and/or personality! It really did seem to me like it was a very hasty thing. Bruce was like a "Johnny on the spot" being at the right place at the right time! . Wanted to try his hand at acting, and he was an athletic guy, and a motorcycle rider, and not bad looking so he got the job! But he couldn't hold a candle to Erik/Ponch on this show, and watching Bruce, he really isn't that great of an actor. :confused:

Yeah I had heard that. Larry lost out to Don Johnson on Miami Vice.:( And Erik was on the Spanish novella, pretty good too ! He actually DIDN"T speak Spanish ! He knew a little being Puerto Rican , but he was born here in 1949 , his parents were of course born in Puerto Rico but back than they learned English as soon as they got here! So he grew up speaking English and just an extremely vague knowledge of Spanish. For the novella , he TOTALLY had to learn Spanish fluently! He also was in a Spanish dancing with the stars too! :)

You know I love him , I have a few DVD movies he has been in, and he is REALLY a good actor. Just a shame none of them were block buster movies! He did seem to be stereotyped from Chips, and limited in his options! :(

bonniegirl62, You mentioned earlier that both Erik and Larry are good actors.I totally agree. I've seen Larry in a number of guest starring roles on other shows and he is very good in everything he did. I've only seen Erik in a few other things,a couple of movies and tv guest spots,and he's also very good. Both those guys are also very likeable, they have personality etc. and that's something you just don't see in todays actors and actresses in my opinion.

Yeah it was supposedly the same characters from "Ponch's Angels", did they have plastic surgery to look different? LOL also of note is that the Caucasian woman Cindy Morgan was in those same episodes as Ponch's girlfriend as a different character of course WTF?

The spinoff thank heavens wasn't picked up but this was only the first of two failed backdoor pilots, the last episode of season 5 which is soon to air titled "Force Seven" consisted of an elite squad of LAPD's best sort of in a Mission Impossible scenario set out to take on special assignments, it would have as stars Fred Dryer (pre-TV series Hunter) and get this, Tom Reilly who would play as Ponch's new partner Bobby Nelson in season 6.

How about the ep the other day with the deaf people! OK that wasn't really a fair ep for Jon at all. It portrayed him to be an A-hole, thinking that the deaf guy was drunk and Ponch got to date the deaf girl (of course)! LOL He seemed really bored on the dates. he wasn't into the movie with subtitles ( I can't blame him, that drives me CRAZY, I hate watching a movie with subtitles, gives me a headache)! And that dance the music was really loud and bad! And even at the very end, poor Jon didn't even get a dance. Bear and Turner even did! I wished it had shown them dancing but it didn't! And Bonnie knowing sign language. She is such a nice character ( glad they named her Bonnie ) LOL!!

The ep that Bonnie and her friends go to Chip n Dales and there is a dancer that looks just like Ponch, and of course his costume before he takes it off is a CHP officer!! OK!!! Come on!!! :lol: And of course all her friends and random women that he stops or comes across believe he is that male dancer!!!:D

Than it turned out the guy resembled Ponch, same hair but his face wasn't really like his. I could see in a dark club if you had a few drinks they would look alike!!! The reason I feel I was ripped off, it led you to believe the real Ponch would actually do an exotic dance at the end. I was in anticipation through the whole show!!! :eek: But NO!! Ponch decided to be modest that day, even when the club owner offered him triple the pay!!!! :(

I know , poor Jon!! But Larry could have spoken up and said 'GIVE ME SOME COOL THINGS TO DO"!!!! :D Erik does have that cool Latino swagger, but Larry could have a cool cowboy swagger too if he wanted to! Country music, and country dancing were becoming very popular in the early 80's! I think Larry is just reserved and shy, and therefore Erik got to stand out a lot more! :)

Yeah every so often he gets to shine! ;) IDK on the square dancing ep why Jon didn't participate . Instead they had Ponch and Sgt. Getraer , which was kind of funny. Should have been Ponch and Jon. Esp. since Jon is a Wyoming country boy. He would have looked good decked out in western wear square dancing. Seems like that would be in his comfort zone! ;)

Yesterdays ep. of course it was Ponch who bonded with the K9 drug unit dog. I loved it, it showed Ponch's sweetness and compassion when the dog went blind! But my point being, they could have let Jon do that part!

I don't see Bobby as a cop at all! Maybe undercover, because nobody would suspect he was the police! But as a cop even a CHP he just doesn't seem like it! He really looks like he's high. He seems like he is basically just kind of laughing at the show. Laughing all the way to the bank! I'm sure he was thrilled to be able to be on the show.;)

He's such a contrast to Jon, who was SO serious all the time, even during a really silly plot. And he REALLY seemed like a cop! So does Ponch, even in his silly moments, he really seems like he could be a cop. As I mentioned before Erik always wanted to be a Policeman, since he was a little boy;)

OMG!!! Yesterday's ep. I was in full tears at the end. Even though I knew what was going to happen. Somebody had told me about this ep. (Special ep, because it featured Ponch in love and kissing and all) ! I knew the girl would be killed by a drunken driver, but I didn't know it would be right there at the picnic in front of Ponch and everyone! That was so sad! Very intense. WOW it really showed off Erik's acting skills. I am more in love with him than ever after seeing that ep!

The girl who played his love interest, her and Erik dated in real life! IDK if they met on the set or they dated before that ep or after IDK! I read it in his biography. She is Beverly Adams ( or Beverly Sassoon) . She was divorced from Vidal Sassoon the hair product guy! Anyway Erik was just getting over a breakup and she was just getting over her divorce or something like that, and they met and hit it off, dated a while, but didn't turn into anything serious! But still it was cool because the on screen kissing was for real than. They did really like each other!

That happened another time too with Erik. In a movie he was in The last Riders ( I LOVE this movie, it was from 1992, straight to video movie) I bought it on Amazon! It's like a Charles Bronson vigilante movie, Erik is HOT in this. And he falls in love with a girl and she gets shot and dies. and the actress who plays her, Kathryn Lautner and Erik had dated . So it's two things Erik was in that his love interest was killed and she had actually been a girlfriend in real life!

But that show last night was SO GOOD!!! Sad but parts were so funny, like Grossie playing the guitar and singing, and all of them under her window , and the cops coming. Grossie and Ponch doing a Cyrano de Bergerac ! That was great!!! Oh and Erik with that puppy!! Double cuteness and hotness, seeing him with a small animal and a lady in one ep! ! But mainly!!OMG seeing Ponch kissing and in love!! Oh I wish that was me he was kissing and in love with!!!

Yeah that episode was a classic even the song "Devil Take Me" was catchy in a Billy Idol and KISS kind of way, you can tell how the writers were coming up with bizarre ideas in season 6, just a few episodes back we had the girl thinking that an E.T. was coming for her.

OMG ! One silly ep after another in season 6! It's a blast though! OK since when does the Captain have a daughter? Suddenly he has a college aged daughter all of a sudden. I remember just a son and I think Mrs. G had another baby after him! But never anything about an oldest daughter!

And the robot ep yesterday was completely ridicules, entertaining and fun though!

That's what I was saying, I'm having a blast with season 6! I'm enjoying the lighthearted silliness! I could take or leave all the car chases and freeway accidents, I like to see the Beefcake guys and the funny stuff :D

Yep, that was David all right!! ;) And the ep with Bryan the girl Honey Jean , was Kathy Showers who was a former Playboy Play mate of the year, and Erik dated her for a while in real life.

Isn't it funny how Bobby and Bruce being brothers do not have the same accent? I mean Bobby has such a strong New Jersey accent ( Tom Reilly is from Bergenfield , NJ) and Bruce doesn't even have an East coast accent of any kind! Unless their parents split up when they were very young kids and one boy went to live with the Mom and one went to live with the Dad in different parts of the country, they pretty much would have the same accent! Oh shoot, the other pic is just an X now. I put up a picture of him during his Chips days, and if you look at both pics together it looks like it could be him! His eyes look darker now though. I'm wondering if he wore colored contacts during Chips? I do notice his eyes look sometimes lighter in certain eps than in others. I think the casting call asked for a blonde /blue eyed guy as a replacement for Jon, and that is the reason Tom dyed his hair. You can only tell it's a dye job and a not very good one! LOL! So he might have also put in blue contacts too for the role, but after a while didn't wear them all the time? ? It's possible about the contacts too, being that he has glasses now!

I Don't think he looks bad. The picture isn't very flattering though, and he is in glasses, also not smiling. And he has such a pretty smile. Yep, back to season 1 . They didn't show the pilot ep though yesterday, I guess because they had just shown it on New Years, when they were showing the first eps of all the shows. Oh I'm just being mean!!! :D Poor Jon wasn't really a fuddy-duddy. Just they didn't seem to give him the cute cool stuff to do like they gave Ponch! Like Square dancing, Dancing in general, singing in battle of the bands etc. And there was that feud in real life that Erik and Larry had. They didn't really like each other and esp by around season 4 it was obvious. And to me, cause I love Erik so much I take his side of course, and Jon was coming off as being kind of jaded and fuddy-duddy-ish in my eyes!! :lol:

Watching Season 1 that is on now the chemistry is really good. Jon seems happy and they were just so young and cute. I noticed a really big difference as time went on. I mean Larry is/was a good actor , he did his job, but you could just tell there was tension going on and it was sad! :( And Baricza was there, seems they showed more of him in the beginning than later on! I really love season 1. But so far no Grossman! And I really like him! I think he was a really good asset/comic relief to the show! ;)

On yesterday's ep. Career day at Ponch's old high school. I wonder if that big graduation picture of Ponch was really Erik's actual graduation picture from high school?

I have seasons one and two on DVD and enjoy watching them. I know MeTV is showing them too but I don't get home from work in time to see it.

I think Grossman pops up in a few more episodes and Harlan doesn't show up until season 2.

And what a jarring transition with season 6 just having ended going back to season 1 you can see how the early episodes were more down to earth laid back type where you see Jon and Ponch deal with the occasional car accident to help a civilian out, just random everyday life, a complete 180 degree compared to the silliness of season 6.

I also noticed a bit how early into the show I guess even the producers weren't clear who would be the break out star since with Larry Wilcox being first billed he's being featured in more crucial scenes (Jon dealing with those bums sitting on his car, or being the one to break bad news to a wife about her husbands death).

I didn't know Grossman was married!!! The ep today he said he was married! That is cool. He seems like he should be married. Like he would make a nice husband and father. I felt sorry that he was kind of overweight and got clowned a lot, but finding out he has a wife makes me happy! A shame they never showed her , had a story or two with her written in!

I thought about that too. Both having the last name Turner. I guess not though, probably not supposed to be related. You are right. I never thought of it that way, but yeah it is a good summer show being set mainly outdoors in California!

I liked Monday and Tuesday's two part eps. Ponch's Angels!Training the two female rookies. Erik was at his FINEST here. I loved seeing him in authority! OMG he could train me anytime he wants! Good story and Ponch was so HOT, OMG the end of part 1 when they were kissing. they really were going at it! I was like THAT LUCKY GIRL!!! Only thing was that was it, I think they could have done more with that! In real life they wouldn't be able to just stop so easy if they were attracted to each other. Esp. if they weren't supposed to/aloud to be together, it would even be hotter and more exciting, harder to keep from going further !!!

Really good eps. And I'm sure for the male viewers , there were pretty girls in this ep.

Yes from Season 4! The eps weren't as good as the first two seasons IMO, but Ponch/Erik was LOOKING HOT!!!!!;) OMG tonight I was buzzed on some beer watching and he was wearing some TIGHT jeans!!! I was like OMG!!! :eek: :crazy: :happyface

:lol: I love it. Erik was one of the hottest men on TV back in the 1970's & 1980's. Very sexy. I thought Jon was cute too (I loved his blond hair).


At first I didn't like Jon that much! I was /am such a Ponch girl. But watching this time around. Jon has his charm too! ;) I like his voice, the country boy/ranch type accent is cute. So much different than Erik's very sexy New York city accent. They played well off of each other being so different! ;)

But cuter than Jon I thought was Barry Baritzca (Bear). ;) He was so tall and handsome!!! And than in season 6 that other blonde hotty, Bobby Nelson, I LOVED him!!! ;)

I actually thought Jon was at his hottest during the 3rd season of CHiPs (with his longish, shaggier hair); but I agree, even though I thought he was cute, he definitely wasn't as sexy as Ponch (no one was). Ponch was not only sexy, he was also funny, which made him even more appealing.

YES!!! He just oozed of sexiness. Even as he got older. I have some Erik Estrada movies from the early 90's, He is in his 40's already and still sexy as hell! ;) The movies are pretty bad, I admit I wouldn't probably even like them if Erik wasn't in them! A shame he didn't get better acting roles after CHIPS! :confused:

But than he went onto playing on the Mexican soap opera's (Novela's) and he literally had to LEARN fluent Spanish!:eek: He really didn't speak Spanish very well , even though he was Puerto Rican , born and raised in Spanish Harlem! I read his autobiography, and apparently his parents learned English very quickly upon arriving in NY, and Erik pretty much grew up speaking English! :)

One of his first roles and also IMO his best was when he was 21. Back in the early 70's! He played the role of a street gang member in a movie "The cross and the Switchblade"! Pat Boone played a Preacher and Erik's character found religion! It is a beautiful true story!;) And OMG!! Erik very young and at his finest , dramatic acting , and before he had his teeth fixed too! He was absolutely HOT and gorgeous still!:) OMG and they even showed a scene in his underwear ( I'm talking regular white Fruit of the Loom type underwear)!!!! :eek: So young and with his natural curly hair too! ;)

Erik was beautiful when he was first starting out as an actor; he portrayed a lot of bad guys. I have seen him in episodes of Hawaii Five-O (he playing the boyfriend of Chin Ho's daughter) and also an episode of Kojak (playing another bad ass).


OMG!! I know!!! But I have never seen the eps! I always am looking out for them though! He always did play "bad guys' till he got the role of Ponch on CHIPS!! ;)

I always wondered? Do you think Erik could have been casted as a sweat hog on Welcome back Kotter? But that was at the same time as CHIPS, so it couldn't be. But watching Welcome back Kotter reruns , I could TOTALLY see Erik as one of the Sweat hogs! Maybe too old to be a believable high school age kid though? :confused: But the voice, the mannerisms , everything would have been perfect! Don't ya think? ;)

WOW!! Really you are right about that! But again I wonder why he didn't get better movie roles after CHIPS than just B type movies?:confused: He really is a wonderful actor. And he was a wonderful dancer, and the disco and dance craze movies were popular than! If not Saturday night Fever and Grease maybe something else on that line! ;)

OMG!!! Yesterday's ep. I was in full tears at the end. Even though I knew what was going to happen. Somebody had told me about this ep. (Special ep, because it featured Ponch in love and kissing and all) ! I knew the girl would be killed by a drunken driver, but I didn't know it would be right there at the picnic in front of Ponch and everyone! That was so sad! Very intense. WOW it really showed off Erik's acting skills. I am more in love with him than ever after seeing that ep!

The girl who played his love interest, her and Erik dated in real life! IDK if they met on the set or they dated before that ep or after IDK! I read it in his biography. She is Beverly Adams ( or Beverly Sassoon) . She was divorced from Vidal Sassoon the hair product guy! Anyway Erik was just getting over a breakup and she was just getting over her divorce or something like that, and they met and hit it off, dated a while, but didn't turn into anything serious! But still it was cool because the on screen kissing was for real than. They did really like each other!

That happened another time too with Erik. In a movie he was in The last Riders ( I LOVE this movie, it was from 1992, straight to video movie) I bought it on Amazon! It's like a Charles Bronson vigilante movie, Erik is HOT in this. And he falls in love with a girl and she gets shot and dies. and the actress who plays her, Kathryn Lautner and Erik had dated . So it's two things Erik was in that his love interest was killed and she had actually been a girlfriend in real life!

But that show last night was SO GOOD!!! Sad but parts were so funny, like Grossie playing the guitar and singing, and all of them under her window , and the cops coming. Grossie and Ponch doing a Cyrano de Bergerac ! That was great!!! Oh and Erik with that puppy!! Double cuteness and hotness, seeing him with a small animal and a lady in one ep! ! But mainly!!OMG seeing Ponch kissing and in love!! Oh I wish that was me he was kissing and in love with!!!

When I first read your post I was thinking, no she would have been too young to be on an early ep of Bewitched! Than I remembered she is quite a bit older than Erik, maybe 10 years older!!! His first wife Joyce Miller(who turned out to be a very horrible woman) :mad: was quite a bit older than him too!! He must have a thing for older woman! I read in his biography ,that he actually lost his virginity at 15 to a woman who in his own words " was my Mother's age"!!!!! WOW, things were sure different in 1964 than they are now!!! :eek:

But his current wife is much younger. I think she is in her early to mid 50's! :)

A season 6 ep that really was a hoot was with the orangutan "Country Action"!! OMG when the orangutan was riding on the back of Ponch's bike! I was ROFL!! Yesterdays ep with Ponch and Bobby going under cover as outlaw bikers!!! They looked pretty hot, but Ponch was wearing a really goofy helmet and Bobby had a big fake mustache on!! It was pretty funny! But than without the helmet, Ponch had a cool headband with skulls on it! It was a cool change from seeing them dressed as highway cops!!!

Erik played an outlaw biker in a movie the Last Riders, he plays that role very well!!

Back to season one last night! Pilot episode. We are introduced to Jon and Ponch. The start of a good show!

Now on season 2. The episode was about 2 guys who went around robbing banks for their organization or something.

I liked Monday and Tuesday's two part eps. Ponch's Angels!Training the two female rookies. Erik was at his FINEST here. I loved seeing him in authority! OMG he could train me anytime he wants! So I was bored one day and decided to catch on some old CHiP's reruns on MeTV when I then noticed the episodes are filling my screen in a 16:9 format.

Huh? when did they start showing CHiPs in widescreen and I'll bet MeTV went the lazy route and simply cropped the original aspect ration to fit the entire screen.

I quit watching CHiPs on ME-TV. I have the entire 4 seasons on DVD and purchasing the 5th season when it is released in March; so watching CHiPs on ME-TV is not necessary.

Laura actually sang A Love Until the End of Time in the Head Over Heels episode. Unfortunately I don't see where is was ever released commercially.

The two part all star ep- The Great 5k race and boulder wrap party. Pretty entertaining. A little too much like the 2 part all star roller disco eps though! It's so beautiful in Malibu, but showed the down side of paradise with that rock sliding. That would be scary!

And OMG the short-shorts that Ponch and Jon were wearing when they were assigned bicycle patrol. I mean JEEZ!!! Could they be any shorter and tighter! As much as I love Erik and I have no complaints about seeing his body , in this case less isn't always the best! Thank God men's styles aren't like that anymore. So tight, looked uncomfortable !! Their 'goods' were so smashed down. OMG I'm surprised Erik and Larry were able to father children after wearing those shorts!! LOL!!! ( Thank God it didn't cause permanent damage, Erik went on to have 4 kids, and Larry had several too) !!! LOL!!

I thought it was kinda creepy the young women that was Ginger's, errr, Tina Louise daughter in the custody battle was the 'Brat girl that was hitting on Ponch a couple seasons later.
