Larry invited James to the Basketball game and then came back and said he could not go and gave James the tickets to take Michael or JJ. And then that's when all the excitement started and then we see Thelma go out to Dinner.

So my questions are

Did James go to the baketball game with JJ or Michael? LOL Once Thelma Breaks up with Larry at the restaurant we never see James again.

Maybe he took michael since JJ was too old. CBS probably showed it in the TAG scene back in 1976

I'm guessing James took Michael since we saw JJ at the restaurant and JJ never mentioned the game.
