Why is Alyssa Milano Leaving "Mistresses"?

Good news / bad news, "Mistresses" fans.

Although ABC announced this week that the series will be back for a third season, star Alyssa Milano won't be returning.



Milano announced the news herself on her website.

"After two wonderful seasons in Los Angeles, the studio has decided to shoot season three of Mistresses in Vancouver, Canada for financial reasons," she wrote. "It's with a heavy heart that I have decided that I can't relocate. I have two babies under 4. Being a mother and wife comes first and I just can not uproot my children and separate the family by moving away. I will miss this job desperately and wish everyone the absolute best."



There's no word on whether Milano's character, Savannah "Savi" Davis, will be recast or written out of "Mistresses".

Milano and her husband, David Bugliari, welcomed their second child, a daughter named Elizabeth, earlier this month. They also have a son, Milo, 3.

I have loved and appreciated her talents since "Who's The Boss?" days. Such a lovely smile. . .and no contraversy whatsoever after all these years. HOW does she DO it? LOL. I wish her and her family all the very best. And yes, she is making the right choice by putting her family FIRST.

"Mistresses" Won't Recast Alyssa Milano's Savi, Says ABC Boss

Don’t expect a disfiguring accident — followed by drastic reconstructive surgery — for "Mistresses‘" Savi Davis.

ABC’s summer sudser will not recast Alyssa Milano’s role, ABC president Paul Lee made clear on Wednesday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.



Addressing the actress’ unexpected decision to exit "Mistresses" when it was announced that production for Season 3 was moved from Los Angeles to Vancouver, Canada, Lee told TVLine:

“We’re going to create a new character — we’re not going to replace her. We fully support Alyssa’s]decision to stay here with her family. We’re sorry to see her go, but we’ve got some great plans for Mistresses.”

This is bittersweet news. I like the show but I'm not sure how good it's going to be without Milano. I'll give it a try and see how I like the "new version".

Producers had a "holy s–t moment" when Milano decided to bow out when the ABC drama, which returns tonight, opted to move production to Vancouver.

Milano left the ABC series when it moved to Canada. It has returned to the U.S. thanks to California tax breaks.
