BOTH films are made from books by Nicholas Pileggi, BOTH films are directed by Martin Scorcese, BOTH star Robert de Nerio and Joe Pesci.

BUT...

"Goodfellas" is 140+ minutes, stars Ray Liotta, is set in New York City, and was released in 1990...the 25th Anniversary is coming soon. "Casino" is 1/2 hour longer, stars Sharon Stone, is set in Las Vegas, and was released in 1995.

I prefer "Goodfellas" over "Casino"...the ending of "Casino" has everyone's fate seen..."Goodfellas" just needed 2 minutes and "Layla" with everyone already seeing their fate. And the narration was mostly Liotta...he fit the part, DeNerio I feel is better seen and heard not heard and not seen.

Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci are also in the movie "A Bronx Tale" together. I like that one much better than Goodfellas or Casino. It stars Chazz Palminteri.

I also heard both DeNiro and Pesci are the same age, both were born in 1943.

Yes, that's one of my favorite movies. It's based on Chazz Palminteri's real life as a child. Palminteri wrote the screenplay. The little boy Cologudal is really Chazz. Colugudal is Chazz's real name. :)

So then they are both about 70. Joe Pecsi's role in that movie was very small.

There's a perpetual "pre-production" Scorsese project called The Irishman, with De Niro, Pacino, Pesci, Harvey Keitel. Delayed for years now, but supposed to be about the Hoffa killing if they aren't all too old to make it now.

That sounds good!! I was always curious to know exactly what happened to Jimmy Hoffa. If those really good actors are too old, they could cast some younger Italian actors! ;) I just recently saw the movie Jersey Boys, the life story of Frankie Valle and the Four seasons . Had a few young Italian type guys in that. Perfect for mafia type rolls!

If so...I hope Scorcese could get Leonardo Di Caprio and Ray Liotta if anything, Liotta has some Scottish blood so I dunno what role he'd play. The only thing I have against "Goodfellas" is Lronardo Di Caprio should've played young Henry Hill...but then again...he may have been busy. Liotta was probably busy during the filming of "Casino" (which was filmed in 1994...the same time when he was in Thailand for the filming of "Operation Dumbo Drop")....But then again...he didn't want to have a repeat of "Goodfellas".

I like both Casino and Goodfellas equally... both classic films.

Since A Bronx Tale was mentioned, child actor Lillo Brancato, Jr. was recently released from prison early this year for his part in a 2005 burglary where his accomplice killed an off-duty cop.

Chazz Palminteri blasted his early release and pretty much said he wants nothing to do with him.

“As far as I’m concerned, he’s made monumentally bad choices and has to live with the consequences. I don’t want it in any way understood that I’m working with him or in contact with him. I really have nothing to say to him.”

“I warned him about drugs years ago — and told him something would happen and something did happen. I would see him and say, ‘I hear you’re doing drugs and you should stay away from that stuff.’ And he’d say, ‘Oh, sure, right.’”

“Here’s a guy who was in the quintessential movie (A Bronx Tale) about not wasting your life and that’s exactly what he did.”

I remember the message of that movie was "The saddest thing in life is wasted talent."

Casino is based on a real story, and it's very interesting if you think of it as the end of the Golden Era of Las Vegas, when the Chicago Mob ran it (Johnny Roselli), and the decline of the Mafia (Tony Spilotro) portrayed in the movie by Peshi) and the start of the Corporate era in the late 80's. I should also mention that Oscar Goldman, who was Mayor of Las Vegas at the time, plays himself ( he was Peshi's lawyer)

Casino and GoodFellas are classic movies and it's hard to say which one is better because both of them are very good. Much props to legendary director Martin Scorsese for directing these classic movies. I got both of them on dvd. LOL@Joe Pesci was crazy in both of these movies hahahahahahahahahaha. I wanna say shut up to the fools who diss Ray Liotta and say he hasn't had a successful career because he's done several straight to video movies for the last decade and he hasn't done that many movies that have come to theaters in a long time. Ray Liotta is a very good actor and I've seen several of his movies. I wish people would stop dissing actors who do straight to video movies. Actors who do these movies are getting paid and they're not only doing it for the money. They're doing straight to video movies because they love acting.

Robert Deniro has done several straight to video movies the last few years and I know he could care less if people diss him because they think the straight to video movies he's doing aren't good and I disagree. I've seen some of his straight to video movies like Freelancers, The Big Wedding, Killing Season. I also saw his The Family with Michelle Pfeiffer and Tommy Lee Jones which came to theaters last year and it was good. I wanted to mention Sharon Stone since she was in Casino and I love her. She hasn't aged well but she was one of the hottest actresses back in the day and I love her body. I was watching some pictures of her on Youtube that somebody did a video about her and I loved the pictures I saw. She's so cute and sexy.

Liotta has been in many minor roles after "Operation Dumbo Drop". It wasn't until recently that he's becoming more into the spotlight, especially with the Tequila 1800 commercials.

Pesci basically disappeared after "Eight Heads in a Duffel Bag". He's a good actor I like him in "Home Alone", he improvised the grumbling since it was a PG-rated film...I wonder if DeNerio ever visited the "Home Alone" set?
