Hey All,
Post any questions you have about the show, or inside knowledge here!
Here are some things I know:
1.) Barry wanted to do his own surfing scenes in Hawaii. The producers originally said "no." They wanted to hire a double. (They were concerned he might drown.) Barry made up a story about how in California he was a member of "The Cowabuga Surf Movement!" They believed him!
1.)a. Barry was supposed to catch a wave and fall into it. The problem was that when they filmed during the shoot, this HUGE wave comes up, (not a part of the script) and Barry's thinking "Oh S**T!" He tried to dodge it but it swallowed him. His feet got all cut up on the coral floor. Look at the others on the beach. Chris shows real concern as does Florence with her "Oh Greg!" line. This is because his wipe-out was a lot more spontaneous than planned!
2.) The classic frog scene at the drive in used a frog wrangler who sat on top of the car and dropped the frogs into a prop-made pizza. They didn't want to use a real hot pizza so the frog's feet would be hurt. Hope Sherwood had to wash her hair multiple times when she got home from doing that scene! The main frog that jumps on the pizza is a prop. The others were real! They had to do about twenty takes because the kids and crew kept cracking up!
3.) In Law and Disorder when the Brady's are fixing up the SS Brady Boat, Barry really WAS stoned on marijuana! He was unexpectedly called in to work due to a change in rehearsal schedule! Watch the whole scene with him using the bicycle pump. It is so obvious!
4.) Bobby's Hero, the Jessie James episode of the dream sequence was filmed with no rehearsal for Mike. Loyd Schwartz wanted horror to show on Bobby's face and proceded to fill Mike's head with all kinds of horrible images about his family being shot, his dog run over, and Mike was visably shaking and crying during his "No Jessie Stop! Don't Shoot!!! This is my family!!!" After the take, Lloyd took him aside and calmed him down.
5.) Mike thought they had Bobby doing things at times that he was too old to be doing and would sometimes question Lloyd and Sherwood about things! (I don't think as often as Robert Reed though!, LOL!) He thought the "Dog Begging" in "Amateur Night" was lame.
6.) In real life, Ann B. Davis did little to no cooking and also admits to being "Not very good with children."
7.) Barry who was playing guitar by fourteen, wrote the song "Till I Met You" in the "Where There's Smoke" episode for "Greg's" band. "The Banana Convention."
