In the Province of British Columbia, this is a common thing. NBD!

I got a letter from my doctor - and it literally tells me nothing.
I would have preferred anything to the letter I got; it basically explained that I had underwent a blood test and that they had in fact performed certain tests (which were not disclosed to me) on that blood, and that they were now in possession of the results of said test, and that it was not required that I schedule another appointment.

I better not be getting a letter since my results are online lol

so to sum up what I have learned from this experience:
1. I do in fact have (or at least had at the time when they were jabbing me) blood.
2. I did in fact go to the medical center and was in fact jabbed with a pointy thing that resulted in a number of little vials being filled with that blood (just in case I had imagined this visit or something).
3. There is someone out there whose job it is to receive medical tests and rather than forward any useful information to the concerned parties, craft an ambiguous letter than carefully informs the recipient of only the most rudimentary facts of which they are already aware and absolutely nothing that could be construed as informative or helpful in any way.

Just like the IRS or the Unemployment Dept. or anything you get in the mail from a county office basically is like that. Tell you what you already know when you are waiting to hear something important.
But medical facilities really don't need to be doing that and have people worrying about there health!

I have Kaiser and they always notify me of my lab results online. I don't see anything wrong with it, and about a week or two I also receive a letter with my results and any comments from my Doctor. It's the way of the future, don't fight it,
