Do you like all movies or ones that have certain ratings? Anyone not like rated R movies?

I don't like rated R movies.

Nope. The rating of a movie has never mattered to me.

Some R rated movies are okay...what I won't watch is NC-17 films since most of them are garbage! ("Salo" is NC-17 and that's the worst film ever IMHO, only because the director's a communist. The **** eating scene and killing scene is sooooo hokey that it can be overlooked as film-noir! If I want a Circle of Blood...I'll take Mel Gibson's "Passion of Christ" thank you)!

"Showgirls" is probably the most recognized NC-17 film of all time...and it blows goats!

Agree. I already mentioned NR/NC-17 films being nothing but trash!

That's all that I can think of now....

Ratings don't matter to me, a good film is a good film no matter if it's rated G or NC-17, there's good and bad in all ratings.

I think that one should look into why a movie has the rating that it does if they are concerned about that.

It's unwise to dismiss a film just because of the rating.

Indeed it is..... I have seen alot of PG and G movies that are excellent :)

I just watched it last night again and its rated TV14..

Except for kiddie G-rated fluff I'm open to all types of movies as long as they're good, what annoys me is the current practice of rating suspense horror type of movies PG-13.

There's also some classics that were originally Rated X when they were released like Midnight Cowboy, and The Last Tango In Paris with Marlon Brando, Brian De Palma's Greetings starring Robert De Niro. If.... with Malcolm McDowell.

And some of my favorite cult/exploitation films had an X-Rating. Ralph Bakshi's Fritz The Cat, some of Russ Meyer's movies (Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls, Beyond The Valley Of The Ultra-Vixens...), Paul Morrissey's Flesh For Frankenstein and Blood For Dracula. The Devils, John Water's early films. Bloodsucking Freaks...

X-Rating doesn't always equal porn like some think.

Depends on the movie. For example, I would have loved to see The Expendables 3 be rated R. I'll take the cursing and the violence, just makes for a great action movie! :)

As far as content goes, I'd prefer movies G-rated.
But all the ratings are what other people at the MPAA have decided for a movie, so I don't totally go by that. For the most part, I try to avoid R-rated and X-rated/NC-17-rated movies. (I've never seen any X-rated or NC-17-rated movies. I would not generally ever even consider those.) There are very few R-rated movies I've seen- "The Passion of the Christ" is probably the only R-rated movie I've gone to see in theaters. I have seen a few other R-rated movies but only the edited for TV airings, which usually remove some of the most objectionable content. (But even that is still a rather small list.)
I usually stick with the G, PG and/or PG-13 range. I try to be careful of what I allow my mind to dwell on and try to look for whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable and anything excellent and worthy of praise and think on such things.:) :cool: (like Philippians 4:8 says- one of the best Biblical guidelines for choosing movies and TV shows to watch and books and magazines to read, etc. Romans 12:1-2 is also a great place to look along with Psalms 101:3)
I can't say I'm perfect on this (or anything else- only Jesus Christ is perfect- and through my relationship with Him, His perfection resides in me and is shaping me to look more like Him every day- Philippians 1:6), but that is my view on it and I trust God will continue to help me get better at it all the time. I also try to think about if something is really glorifying to God or not and if it's drawing me closer to Him or pushing me further away. Sometimes things can be fairly neutral, but we always need to be careful in considering everything that we choose to dwell on- and that goes for the Internet too.
