View Full Version : Vicky or Janet
17Mar59 03-12-2002, 10:47 PM Which do you think Jack was better off with Vicki or Janet?
I always thought that Janet was the perfect girl for Jack.
Vicki and Jack didn't seem to have the same type of chemistry
as Janet and Jack.
TelevisionQueen 08-10-2002, 05:18 PM I agree totally!! Also, I thought that Phil was totally wrong for Janet, and that Phil and Vicki would be good together...they were both sort of nerdy. Anyway, Jack and Janet would have made the perfect couple!
Sean Snow 08-13-2002, 09:27 AM I think Vicki was OK, but having one of the roomates as his live in love would've been a better choice. I think the audience missed the others from TC--Janet, Terri, RF, and Larry. IMO They shouldn't have dumped an entire cast just like that. It would've been more interesting to see Janet and Jack together.
Blair85 08-17-2002, 12:31 AM Janet!!!!
TVFactFan 08-18-2002, 02:05 AM I always felt jack and janet had the best chemistry-i agree totally
Scoobiedoo30 08-30-2002, 08:16 PM I Think Janet Should Have Been Jack Girlfriend On The Show
Three's A Crowd
Krisalicious 10-11-2002, 09:38 AM Jack and Janet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No contest there....just look at my siggy :D
Big3sCompanyFan 09-16-2003, 03:15 PM JANET ALL THE WAY!!
THEN THE SHOW WOULD'VE LASTED MUCH LONGER!!
Mr. Television 09-16-2003, 03:19 PM Janet. I always thought the weakest character on Three's A Crowd was Vicki
Crimson and Clover 09-17-2003, 01:56 AM Janet, she was perfect for Jack.
Lady T 09-17-2003, 02:24 AM OMG..I thought Janet's fiance Phil was nasty...I agree with the chemistry between Janet and Jack:)
LILFACE23 09-18-2003, 10:03 PM I definitly think Janet. It would have lasted so much longer on T.V. They could've at least had Janet and Terri and the gang visit or something on Three's a Crowd. What a change. The only reason I watched it was to keep watching John, his character even changed a bit on that show, not so much physical comedy as Three's Company. That show will always be the best one in my book.
REST IN PEACE JOHN AND KNOW YOU'LL ALWAYS BE THOUGHT OF AND LOVED AND DEEPLY MISSED HEAR AT HOME. WATCH OVER US AND KEEP THE HEAVENS HAPPY AS YOU DID WITH YOUR FANS.
THANKS FOR THE GREAT LAUGHS AND MEMORIES I'LL HOLD FOREVER IN MY HEART. YOU ARE BY FAR THE BEST!!!!!!!!
Zack Tripper 09-19-2003, 02:03 PM At least he didn't end up with Chrissy! She didn't look that great, and she was dumber than a box of rocks! I found her to be quite annoying! And Janet looked hot in the first season, but why did she have to go and cut her hair off?! I would have liked to have seen him end up with Terri. She was the hottest roommate he had, and I would have liked to see more of her after the show ended. Nonetheless, Vicky was a hottie as well, and I think Jack did good for himself!
By the way, has anyone seen Mallrats (1995)? It has Jason Lee and Shannen Doherty, and a bit part by Priscilla Barnes. If there are any Terri fans out there, you MUST check it out!
John, you were an awesome actor, and I'll miss you!
Janet Tripper 09-20-2003, 01:15 AM Janet def! They were great together! They care for each other and Joyce and John had a great chemistry together! I've only watch the TAC, when it was on TV Land's tribute, had to change the channel almost as soon as it started couldn't watch it w/o the rest of the company! TC rocks!:D
dandelion wine 09-20-2003, 01:24 AM Janet! Vicki was ok, but I didn't really like her. And besides, the chemisty he had with Janet was much better, in my opinion.
I thought it was a good thing that Jack and Janet didn't get together. It showed that a guy and a girl can be just friends (despite how untrue this may be). Plus, straight-laced Vicki was a nice contrast to the bumbling Jack.
beckyc 10-12-2003, 05:17 PM janet...but they shouldn't have even done a spin off, just a good ending to Three's Company! jmo
Zack Tripper 10-22-2003, 01:47 PM Say what you want, I prefer Vicky!
jimmy pop 10-28-2003, 08:24 PM vicki was boring - if they were gonna pick anyone to be in a spinoff with jack it shoulda been RF!!!
two swingin bachelors on their own in the big city

Ralph? That would be a bit odd. There's, what, a 50 year age difference? If the network wanted to go that route, Larry would have been a better choice! Still, I like Vicky!

I wouldn't care which roomate he ended up with,Vicky and Jack had no chemistry.Vicky was a true knock out I have to agree but still if there is no chemistry you shouldn't be with some one who you have no chemistry with no matter how gorgeous she is.Plus in Hair Today Gone Tomorrow,Jack and Terri dated because he had a moustache that made him look like one of Terri's old boyfriends. In the end,Jack told her that they aren't meant for each other

Ever heard the old adage "opposites attract?" I think that was the case with Jack and Vicky. She was straight-laced, and jack was...well...Jack. But I still think that out of the roommates, Terri was the best one! There could have been chemistry, Terri should have proved Jack wrong!
EricIdlefan 02-19-2004, 11:26 PM Janet by the longnose!!
EricIdlefan 02-23-2004, 12:20 AM I don't think Jack should had gotten together with either Janet or Chrissy or any of the women after Chrissy and the spin-off should not had gone forward and just leave TC and end it without a spin-off!!

It was going to be fate that would've brought Jack & Janet together. They were fixed up on a date by a computer,he ended up in bed with her even though nothing happened, they were the only roomates that didn't leave the show, the crowd cheered when they thought it was Janet who filled out the quiz about wanting to have an affair with a roomate of the opposite sex, etc.Do I have to spell it out for you?!F-A-T-E!Fate!

I always thought that Janet was the perfect girl for Jack.

JANET! hands down....I always wanted them to be a couple :jack :loveya:
ClassicTVGal 06-06-2007, 03:03 PM I know there is the thing about a guy and girl just being friends, but I definately would have to say Janet!
Dusk Angel 06-21-2007, 05:20 AM I always thought that Janet was too smart for Jack. Besides, it wouldn't have made any sense to have two people who had lived together as friends for eight years to suddenly fall in love. I think Jack and Janet would have just been. . . . . weird.
I've never seen "Three's a Crowd", though. I couldn't say anything about Vicky. Maybe they need to show it on TV Land.
TVFactFan 06-21-2007, 02:11 PM the fact that Janet was not a character on Three's a crowd makes it very confusing as to why she is being compared to Vicky Bradford
vtunie 03-10-2008, 05:53 PM I watched every single episode of TAC (once, exactly once each) always missing the old cast.
But the fate was with Vicky.

Indeed! And unless my memory's screwing up, that was one of the better ones. :)

yeah it had a three's company ep feel by having two old three's company characters.

Thing is, that Larry's plot was as I recall exactly the same as in the Ropers' sixth episode (which I finally got to see last week -- only 29 years late  ).... Funny how Ted McGinley's considered by some to be the death knell for a show -- in the TC universe, Richard Kline played kinda the same role. :)

i found it strange that no one applauded when larry appeared on the Ropers or Three's a crowd
lol

I can't believe I said this almost 5 years ago. I change my vote to neither.

OK, then who??? Chrissy? (a la Hamel's suggestion  )

Actually, do you notice that the studio audience never seemed to applaud at the entrances of the stars, all through TC/TAC? Maybe the show runners had taste enough to edit it out in post-production. :happyface
Mr. Television 03-10-2008, 07:58 PM OK, then who??? Chrissy? (a la Hamel's suggestion  )
No I don't think it should have been any of the roommates but I think they needed a better actress to play Vicki. Mary was terrible. lol

Janet all the way!
catlover79 01-09-2009, 01:52 AM I have to agree with Sonny and say neither - no disrespect to any of the actors, but I didn't see Jack as the right guy for either of them and vice versa.
Vicky never even had a chance with me. She wasn't Janet, so I didn't like her.
I personally always thought Jack and Janet were in love for a long time, they just didn't realize it. Jack seemed to right before Janet got married :( Couldn't get Janet so he went for Vicky. Bad move, Jack. He should have fought for Janet!
Dude111 09-09-2018, 12:24 AM Janet w/o question!
Theda Bara 09-10-2018, 03:34 AM OMG..I thought Janet's fiance Phil was nasty...I agree with the chemistry between Janet and Jack:)
Yes, I totally agree with the "very wise" Lady T;)
SitcomsHeydayfan 11-29-2018, 01:45 PM Janet and it's not even close!
Come to think of it, would Three's a Crowd have stood a better chance at lasting longer had instead of pairing Jack up with this new girl, they carried Priscilla Barnes' over from Three's Company? I mean, imagine having Jack and Terri realize that they're romantically in love with each other. Since Jack didn't know Terri as well as Janet you couldn't just write it off as saying that Janet was too much like a sister to Jack for them to be together.

No because it would have not been the same as TC

It would've been better than Jack and Vicki but still probably wouldn't have lasted more than a couple seasons.
Fallon97 05-21-2021, 07:38 PM I prefer Vicki. I love Janet but I prefer her and Jack as platonic friends not romantic partners.
thejasoomian 05-30-2021, 03:35 AM Vicky . A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

Here are five BIG reasons why Jack and Janet should have ended up together when the classic TV sitcom, "Three's Company" came to a close.
The difference between Vicky or Janet is that Janet was a sweet girl who also had a temper and toughness. Vicky may have been a bit of a bland square at least, considering who were parents (in particular, her mother, who was more of a vixen type) were.
I prefer Vicki. I love Janet but I prefer her and Jack as platonic friends not romantic partners.
I'm kind of in agreement with those who think (https://www.tellytalk.net/threads/threes-company.4311/post-381785) that a Three's a Crowd with Janet as Jack's romantic partner wouldn't have worked. What exactly would be the point of doing a spin-off if you're essentially still doing Three's Company except with only two roommates?
BestTVever 01-12-2024, 08:01 AM I'm kind of in agreement with those who think (https://www.tellytalk.net/threads/threes-company.4311/post-381785) that a Three's a Crowd with Janet as Jack's romantic partner wouldn't have worked. I agree. However Threes A Crowd was pretty much Threes Company without a third roommate. Vicki's dad was like Mr Roper, the foil. Jack's Bistro was the same and many episodes used the "sexual misunderstanding" theme. I remember the one that Vicki's friend thinks Jack is after her while she stays in the apartment. Threes Company had jumped the shark by season 8. But Season 8 was still better than Threes A Crowd.
king of comedy 01-12-2024, 08:57 AM It should have been Jack and Janet. They had that magical chemistry.
Dude111 01-12-2024, 08:17 PM Ya they made the show as good as it was!
DORVID 01-15-2024, 04:25 AM Vicky
rusty spike 01-15-2024, 03:33 PM In order for the premise of TAC to work was to have a meddling father who loathed Jack. And the show required a wishy-washy lukewarm character like Vicky to foil (oppose) Jack. There are scenes where Vicky is mean towards Jack. There are times that I want to slap Vicky because she's insensitive of Jack and his feelings.
For those of you who wanted Janet to continue, the writers would have had to assassinate Janet's character to make the plots work. Janet would have to become indecisive and mean.
