I was traveling across the country - was not able to see it. Any updates would be appreciated!

There was one lady in the audience that took up too much time going from one topic to another and I was screaming "Get to the point and ask the question!" That annoyed me and I saw other audience members smiling politely as though they were ready to wrap things up.

I loved how one audience member asked if there was any awkwardness when the first season girls would come back and work on later eps. Good question.

I am still catching up, but where was Kim??

I am still catching up, but where was Kim??

She was at home in Atlanta taking care of her newborn, which makes sense. I don't blame her for not wanting to travel. Aside from keeping a newborn enterained and everything on the plane, she's probs still worrying about breastfeeding and stuff.

Also, I plan on having the recap of the FOL event from last night posted on my tumblr later tonight.

It seemed like Lisa and Nancy were embarrassed to be there. they kept making the "35 years ago" "i am old" joke. Own it ladies, see the best in this show, talk about it, celebrate it! Bring something to the table we haven't heard you say before, you have the prep time.
Charlotte was very well spoken, and remembered more than the other girls. She had some funny and honest moments.
Mindy did own it, and had some honest opinions and memories from the series...
I thought more of the creative people (writers and producers) would have been involved, they could have brought much to the table.
Thanks

Aww, well it would have been nice if they could have had her join them "on location" from her house. :)

Oo, awesome! I would love to see this...for those of us who didn't see it last night, will the video be archived anywhere? (I don't see a link to an archived video at the Paley site).

Thanks Steph...I can't believe in this age of 2014 there won't be a video of this posted somewhere...but just in case there isn't officially, I hope at least some fan recorded the stream with a web cam or something and can post it, lol.

In the meantime Steph, thanks for doing that, it will be fun to read up on the event!

Well it said on the ticket page for the event no photography or filming. But i mean, it was livestreamed. Someone on the internet probably knows how to record livestreams and someone probably did actually do it. Who knows....

There is a lot of speculation that the event will be a bonus feature on the DVDs

I don't know, wouldn't this be cutting it awfully close? I would have thought all the discs would have been pressed by now. But if they could get it on there, that would be terrific!

So would putting all of the television "look-back" specials done about the series. There were at least 3 made, and not all are available to see online (maybe not any of them are right now). I had 2 saved on my DVR, but they got wiped out when my unit recorded more hours of Olympics one summer than I realized I had it set for.

You never know. It might be why they haven't announced the Bonus Features yet

I am confident they will include the Paley Fest Panel. They are doing the same with the new WKRP release.
I hope there will also be episode commentary on at least 2 eps per season from both cast and creative people from the show....

I loved how one audience member asked if there was any awkwardness when the first season girls would come back and work on later eps. Good question.

What did they say?

Ah, found it, thanks to the transcript:

Between S1 and S2 some members of the original cast had come back. Was it ever awkward?

Mindy: Not for me. No. Felice is my long time friend. Molly became a big movie star.

Lisa: No. I hung with Julie P from the Mickey Mouse club. They were professional about it, but maybe we’re not the ones to be asked about it.

No one said anything about Julie Anne, but it's good to know that Mindy and Felice are still good friends (which I suspected from the 2006 DVD interview).

It's also nice that Lisa acknowledged that they're not the ones who would maybe have felt awkward.

Anyway, I agree that this was a great interview question. SO much better than the ones that are repeatedly asked.

Oo, sweet! At least we can read that if no fan recorded it online to upload.

"Between S1 and S2 some members of the original cast had come back. Was it ever awkward?"

Um, between S1 and S2, the show was on hiatus. What they should have said was, "For a couple of seasons after S1, some members of the original cast made guest appearances" (it's the literalness and English major in me, lol).

"Mindy: Not for me. No. Felice is my long time friend. Molly became a big movie star."

 What does Molly becoming a big movie star have to do with anything?? We know that Mindy, and it doesn't even answer the question. :)

No one said anything about Julie Anne.

Well, that sucks, but at least we have her included on the S1 & S2 DVD interviews. :)

It's also nice that Lisa acknowledged that they're not the ones who would maybe have felt awkward.

I can see the legitimate potential of awkwardness on both sides; the "Lost Girls" feeling like being granted the privilege of coming on for a few lines on what was once a regular series for them, and Lisa, Kim, and Mindy being the "chosen few" to remain with the show and seeing their one-time co-stars return for brief moments in their limelight---and not even having their characters' names mentioned again! (minus Molly in "The New Girl Part II")

Well, you're absolutely right, but what they said is understandable, even if it's not technically correct. I'm just glad the question was asked.

"Mindy: Not for me. No. Felice is my long time friend. Molly became a big movie star."

 What does Molly becoming a big movie star have to do with anything?? We know that Mindy, and it doesn't even answer the question. :)

True. I think, by default, that's Mindy's go-to answer when it comes to Molly: "Well, she became a big star, so..."

It's true that Molly became a big star in the mid-1980s. But that doesn't mean it was easy for her in 1980 when her part was reduced almost to wallpaper.

I do see some fans saying similar things: "The best thing that ever happened to Molly was being fired from FOL". No, the best thing that happened to Molly was being cast in three hugely successful films that propelled her to 80s stardom. There's a difference, there, and they're making a leap that isn't entirely logical.

Well, that sucks, but at least we have her included on the S1 & S2 DVD interviews. :)

Yeah, I'm so grateful that she did those interviews. Because otherwise, we would literally know NOTHING about her or her perspective about the show.

Well, technically, their names are mentioned... in the closing credits. And I think Nancy's name is mentioned in "Gossip" and "Sex Symbol". And they are called by name in "The Little Chill", and Sue Ann's name is mentioned in the 2003 movie. Again, Cindy is the one who gets the most neglect.

Yes, it might have been potentially awkward for Lisa, Mindy and Kim. But probably much more awkward for young girls who were fired... and then asked to come back for bit parts.

It might have even been awkward for Nancy, considering she was "the replacement".

But it's good to know that they acted like pros, even if, as we know, Molly was quite unhappy about her reduced role.

Well I meant verbally mentioned, as in being addressed by character name in dialogue. But yeah I was thinking of mostly Cindy and Sue Ann, so wasn't thinking about Nancy. They treated her much better in those cafeteria episodes!

Yeah, Felice even got a decent episode with "Gossip". The parts they offered Molly and the Julies were so insignificant, up until Season 8.

It's interesting to see that their appearances (minus Molly, with just 1) were so few and limited, because I have such vivid, strong memories of seeing them "sometimes" when I would watch the daily re-runs in my childhood. They left such a lasting impression it seemed like they "guest-appeared" more than they actually did. :)

I do, too!

Well, between "The New Girl pt 2", "Gossip", "Sex Symbol", "Pretty Babies", "Green-eyed Monster", "Front Page", and "Dear Me", they were appearing fairly regularly in S2 and early S3. I just wish that had continued, and we could have seen them throughout seasons 3 and 4, and graduate alongside the Fab Four.

Still, Photoshop is better than nothing...

Well, I wouldn't call that "fairly regularly", because that's just a small handful episodes out of all of seasons 2 and 3. When I was a kid I really thought they did appear "fairly regularly", lol, as in more often than they did. This also goes for Blair's mother Monica; I thought she appeared in the "cafeteria years" more than it turns out she actually did as well.

I guess back then though if the syndicated package were just seasons 1-4, cycled 5 days a week and then over again, then sure, no wonder I thought I kept seeing "my other girls" so often, lol. :)

And yes, that is always great "photo"!

Well, it's six episodes from 2-09 to 3-12: six out of twenty is about one episode out of three. If they had continued appearing at that frequency, they would have appeared in about 75 FOL episodes. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, and we didn't see them graduate and grow up. At least we did get to see them once, all grown up (with the exception of Molly), and for that, I am grateful.

I would consider the entire 2nd and 3rd seasons though, since that is when they could have appeared. That's 40 episodes. And technically, I would even count season 4, since that was still set at Eastland and it would have been natural to have more "Lost Girl" guest appearances.

That's right producers, I'm tough on you! ;)

S#*t they look really good! If i looked like them at that age....

I love Lisa and Nancy's long-term friendship and chemistry. They seem to be a lot closer now than they were back then. And their relationship is genuine, none of that fake Hollywood BS.

I couldn't see Kim's video, what did she say?
