View Full Version : Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace Join "The View"
JamesG 09-03-2014, 10:22 PM Rosie Perez & Nicolle Wallace To Join "The View" as New Co-Hosts

The search is over. Final details are still being worked out but I’ve learned that actress Rosie Perez and political commentator Nicolle Wallace are expected to join "The View" when the ABC daytime talk show returns for a new season September 15.
They would join Rosie O’Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg. Perez and Wallace would succeed co-hosts Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy, who exited last month.
Wallace, who served as communications director for George W. Bush, was among the women who did a screen test for "The View" last month, emerging as one of the frontrunners. She also did three guest co-hosting stints this year.
Perez has been largely under the radar during the search but she is a household name and served as a guest co-host on the talk show in February.
I hear Perez’s schedule has been worked out in a way so she can juggle her duties on "The View" with a Broadway gig — she just signed on to co-star opposite Larry David in in David’s play Fish in the Dark, produced by Scott Rudin.
The cast overhaul is part of a top-to-bottom makeover at "The View", which includes a new studio, new set, new logo and new behind-the-scenes team led by new executive producer Bill Wollf.

Perez, who turns 50 on Saturday, is already bold, knowledgeable and famous.

The revamped panel of “The View” is everything we’ve always wanted — problem is, that’s boring, says Kevin Fallon. “After so many years of vilifying Elisabeth Hasselbeck for her extreme conservative points of views, lampooning the harpy nature of the panel’s clucking hens, and clamoring for a roundtable of smart and respected hosts who never posed for Playboy, this current View is almost unrecognizable,” he says. "Yes, we got everything we thought we wanted in a new ‘View.' But now we should wonder whether we should have wanted it in the first place. Because this respectable, illuminating View was also—let’s face it—kind of boring.” PLUS: Nicolle Wallace is behaving too much like a political strategist (http://t.co/ckNsn9EBtS), it was a flawed but promising start (http://www.newsday.com/entertainment/tv/view-returns-with-new-cast-and-flawed-but-promising-start-1.9319120), and Rosie was barefoot (http://deadline.com/2014/09/the-view-rosie-odonnell-debute-nicolle-wallace-rosie-perez-bill-wolff-834487/).

Replace Whoopi as the Moderator with Nicolle Wallace
Whoopi has done a pretty good job as moderator, but a change is needed. Nicolle Wallace is a little less passionate about things and she presents herself well. Her last job was as communications chief during the Bush Presidency. There has not been a conservative as moderator yet, and she has the resume to prove she can do the job. By giving Nicole Wallace the top spot on the show, The View will be more attractive to conservative viewers, and thus bring in more fans.
Ban Rosie O’Donnell from Returning – Quitting Twice is Enough
ABC needs to nail a sign reading “Closed” above the revolving door that Rosie O’Donnell has been going through over the years. She is not as popular as the days when she had her own talk show and has never seemed to take the job seriously. She may bring headlines when she has been added to the show, but does she really bring new viewers? No.
Appoint new Panelists vs. Revolving Guest Co-Hosts
The revolving co-host just doesn’t work well. Viewers will all have their favorite show co-host and will want to watch to see how that co-host deals with daily topics. With the plethora of guest hosts, viewers are left not knowing how they stand on things. The View also needs to show stability, appointing regular co-hosts will help the show solidifies its original formula.
Dial back Mario Cantone – A Little Shtick goes a Long Way
Mario is just hilarious, but his routine is a bit predictable. He is like a toy poodle on steroids. So, have Mario back again and have him react to things in a more natural way, not as if it is a stand-up routine. We want to see the real Mario Cantone.
Have an Expanded Face off Hot Topics with CBS’ The Talk
CBS’ clone of The View — titled The Talk — has been doing very good in ratings and has even been better than The View many times. Having an expanded face off of hot topics with The Talk members would breathe more life to both shows and put a whole new view to The View.
JamesG 08-17-2020, 08:30 PM Nicolle Wallace Says Getting Fired from "The View" in 2015 "Felt Personal"

Five years after being cut from her co-hosting duties on "The View", Nicolle Wallace says that her firing felt “like being broken up with.”
During an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the former communications director for George W. Bush, a former adviser to John McCain and current MSNBC host explained that the talk show was her introduction to the world of entertainment.
Even while working for the show, she didn’t quite understand how the show was run.
“Being fired from a TV show where you think you’re kind of baring your soul feels personal because it is,” she said. “I think what I didn’t understand is: It really was a casting, and it was a casting they didn’t like.”
Wallace represented the Republican viewpoint during her one season on the daytime show, alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez and Rosie O’Donnell, sitting in the same seat as Meghan McCain today.
And although Wallace said she “loved” working on "The View", she expressed that there was tension with some of her co-hosts. “I sought to make peace with Rosie O’Donnell and Rosie Perez,” she shared. “I had such a special friendship with Whoopi Goldberg.”
