Blackadder is a british sitcom that encompasses four series: The Black Adder (set during the end of the British Middle ages), Blackadder II (set in England during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I), Blackadder the Third (set during The Regency), and finally, Blackadder Goes Forth (set during the first World War). They starred Rowan Atkinson as Edmund Blackadder, Tony Robinson as Baldrick, Tim McInnerny as Lord Percy, and Hugh Laurie as Prince Regent George (Blackadder the Third) and Lieutenant George (Blackadder Goes Forth).

I don't think Blackadder ever "phoned the bish'. By changing the time period with each series (season) they kept the stories and the show fresh!
