Zoneboy 09-02-2014, 04:06 PM There's to many people viewing and not posting... Current stats: Threads: 312,931, Posts: 4,823,678, Members: 58,113 What do you think can be done to make it more inviting? Not all viewers of a thread are going to post in it and that includes registered members as well as lurkers who have to sign-up before they can post anyway. This board has been around since 2000 and based on the stats above I think TJ's done exceptionally well with it but he can't make people post or register. Dude111 09-03-2014, 01:17 AM I really like it here Zoneboy! tlc38tlc38 09-07-2014, 12:09 PM I'm actually kind of happy with the way the site it. We're all like a small family.:D TJ 09-08-2014, 03:39 PM Learning how to properly create polls would help. :) It would save our staff some work in editing and deleting threads. Creating unique polls and topics that haven't been asked a hundred times before are more likely to generate replies. We have welcome headers that encourage guests to register. It seems like the boards are a bit resurgent the last few months. We have more posts and new members compared to last year. robyrob 09-08-2014, 06:02 PM I've only been here about ten days - I didn't feel there was any problem in signing up. One suggestion I have: I've spent some time mining older threads about selected shows, and there's a lot of good stuff back there. It's hard to find, though, amongst threads where people were trying to trade tapes ten years ago or where links were posted and no one ever responded. It might be good to surgically delete or archive older trading or unanswered threads so that actual content can be found. I used to be more diligent about moving the feedback threads and older threads on the Trading Post, but i haven't really been on top of it lately - I'll make an effort to try and clean stuff out, but I have to leave any threads with people posting want or trade lists. On the individual show boards, its a lot harder to do something like that - how do you decide what to cut and what to keep, especially with stuff that is very old; you could archive everything, but then there are some really old threads that have some good stuff in them. I don't think that it is too hard to sign up - if you make it any easier we are going to get hammered by spammers, and nobody wants THAT. :spam: vampirevsrobot 09-09-2014, 04:24 AM Learning how to properly create polls would help. :) It would save our staff some work in editing and deleting threads. I appreciate it. vampirevsrobot 09-09-2014, 05:29 AM I've only been here about ten days - I didn't feel there was any problem in signing up. I'm glad your here...apparently there's 58,000 members here and I could probably count with one hand how many people here on the boards would know that question about the Emmy query I wrote earlier in regards to "Everybody Loves Raymond". I know A LOT about television, but you schooled me there... I hope you stick around :) |
