View Full Version : Chrissy shouldn't have fallen for the Swami....
A woman raised as a diehard Christian can easily be swayed to follow the Swami? Doesn't seem to make too much sense.
I also don't like the fact she ended up giving him all of the trio's spending money they had in their pockets so that they couldn't afford their Regal Beagle bill.
This is another reason why I WOULD NOT want to be in a relationship with her. She'd be giving all my money away and not giving anything back in return.
I think Chrissy is really starting to turn into an annoying character. Someone you have to babysit.
She's becoming generous to a fault.....and her generosity is actually starting to hurt others around her!
Janet is looking better all the time, and maybe it's for the best Suzanne left the show anyhow. This show wouldn't have lasted as long. Chrissy would have become worse over time, and Suzanne would have been badly typecast. Chrissy is starting to make me ask her "Why did you do that?" when she's doing things. And that's not good.
Oh boy Season 4 should be interesting to see what Chrissy's going to devolve to.
Maybe leaving was the best thing Suzanne ever did! I think if I had to play Chrissy as silly as she's becoming I'd be asking for five times the money too! Eventually Chrissy was going to turn into a career-KILLING character for Suzanne had she stayed

Stay classy, JSP. You know, sometimes you are really insightful, but comments like these make me not want to contribute to these boards anymore. They make me disappointed in men and humanity at large.
I agree with you that it was out of character of Chrissy to fall for Rama Mageesh. You would think with such a strict upbringing she wouldn't want any part of a "cultish" or new-age religion. It reinforced Chrissy's innocence and trusting nature, but in this episode her innocence turned into downright blindness and stupidity, a harbinger of her future self.

Wow, I didn't know you were taking this all too seriously.
And if you're using me as the representative for all men or even humanity.....well that's something I never said I was. That's a responsibility I never asked for.
I'm just one guy calling it like I see it. I'm just thinking Chrissy is not all that interesting. If that causes you to lose faith in man and humanity in general, well then I'm sorry. Seems a bit dramatic though.
I'll try to be a better rep for humanity on the board...... if it makes you feel any better I won't comment on the character Chrissy anymore. I think I've made myself clear enough on that subject anyhow.

You talk about the show like it's currently on the air. Why is that?

Because I just got the Complete Series DVD set and I'm watching the episodes in order.
I'm midway through season 3 now.
It's been a long time since I've seen the show, so I have a while before I get to the later seasons.

I have to do that eventually but I have these shows first
Jeffersons
Welcome Back Kotter

It shouldn't take you too long to get through Kotter since it's only 4 seasons.

Well I guess I am no rush because I did buy all the individual seasons of TC but ended selling them last year when I lost my job
In the case of the Jeffersons and WBK, those shows were never complete on DVD. But since I found out 2 eps on the WBK are edited, I will wait to buy that one

I'm like that with the show "Fraiser." I'm only on season four of the dvds

JSP, I don't see you personally as a representative for men or humanity. But the implication that women "owe" a dude sex because he bought her dinner is unfortunately a casual and pervasive attitude that a lot of guys have. And yeah, I find that offensive.
I know you probably didn't mean it very seriously, but I find those kinds of cave-man comments gross. I'm not saying YOU'RE gross, I'm just pointing out that that attitude should be shunned. To most females it's just not funny because that "joke" is all too often a real expectation.
I know TC is a comedy fueled by sexy jokes, innuendo---that's what makes the show fun---but I am disappointed how sexist the comments on these boards tend to be from time to time in general.
I don't care if you like Chrissy or not, my point was that little jibes like that are discouraging and make me not want to contribute to the conversation. I think you usually offer great discussion and seem pretty smart, so I was doubly discouraged. However, I recovered. I just wanted to follow-up.

I understand that. Women probably consider that a form of "prostitution" and women looking for a serious relationship don't want to feel like a prostitute.
I'm sure when guys find the girl they really like they will wait for her no matter what. When a guy is really in love he's not going to talk about the woman that way.
In my case, it appears the Chrissy character really doesn't have much to offer besides her body, hence my comment. I would find her too insufferable to be patient with for marriage. Seriously, she can't cook or hold a decent conversation. She's honest to a fault and can get people in trouble with her honesty as we saw happen to Jack in "Days of Beer and Weeds". Nor does she "put out". No wonder she has man problems. I'm sorry but why would a man want to stick around for her? I'm not trying to be sexist against all women, I'm just saying Chrissy is a bad choice for a guy and the only reason why a man would want to stick around for her is for sex, which she doesn't give.
And if that makes me a bad guy for saying that and if I'm a bad guy because I'm not seeing some intrinsic value in Chrissy that would make a man want to marry her and commit to her long term, oh well.

Right, in real life when a guy comes across a girl like chrissy he is only thinking of having sex since she is such a airhead:lol:
