Right, why was Michael constantly standing there speaking; while his parents were disagreeing with each other, Michael did not listen to his parents.....

Correct, she should have not felt bad at all, because her child was disobeying her, ....for example, if a parent told a child to go to bed and the child decided not to and keep playing ignoring his parent....,will you let the child rule over you as a parent and keep playing instead of going to bed? I don't think so, NOT a responsible parent WILL ALLOW THAT!!

And before the slap she had already said,,,,,,,,,,,"Stay out of this it's none of your business Michael"
GARFIELDKOOL 08-31-2014, 08:27 PM I disagree. I wouldn't say Michael deserved to get slapped. Yes, grown folks were talking. But give Michael credit. He didn't want to see his parents arguing. He was trying to be a peacemaker. Florida and James were setting a bad example in front of their children. Neither was winning with words and shouting. It took the youngest to try to intervene. Things could have gotten worse if Michael hadn't got slapped. Sometimes you have to listen to your children.

I agree, you never know what could have happened if Michael didn't step in. In the first episode "Getting Up The Rent" when Florida keeps saying "I'm sorry about the gall bladder operation, " James says "Stop sayin your sorry baby, or I'm gonna give you somethin to be sorry about". This pretty much hints that James may have put his hands on Florida before. There argument seemed to be headed towards the "physical" and was their nastiest fight on the show. You can understand why Michael stepped in!

I never really thought about that line that James said in getting up the rent. And it's not like he had a smile on his face either when he said it. He was hot-tempered so you have to wonder.
Now looking back at Florida and James arguing, I'm starting to realize that slap Michael received was meant for james. Florida probably had enough.
