I have been watching a few episodes that aired on Encore and I noticed that the episodes have a 22 minute run time which was not the norm for TV shows of the 80s.
I am pretty sure Encore got them that way from the studio since they would have no reason to do any editing. Maybe the unedited versions are unavailable or the rights are being held by someone. I noticed that the show aired edited on TV One during the time when TV One aired everything unedited.
In either case I am not bothered by it because we do get to see classics like 227 and Diff'rent Strokes unedited.

The absense of TV commercials sometimes shortens the running time of a program on regular TV from 30 minutes to about 22 minutes or so.
But the full running time of the program itself should still all be intact.
Such is the case of Youtube, where full eps of shows run for about 22 minutes or so.

Shows from the 80s and before had a run time of 23 to 24 minutes in length. Only in recent years were shows required to be 21 to 22 minutes in length to accommodate more commercials. Amen should be running at 23 to 24 minutes long. I am no dummy because I work in the television field and I know there are no 30 minute shows.

They won't be unedited for long. All cable stations at some point start chopping up eps
Like TV One, they use to air eps uncut in 2004 and now in 2014 they are sliced and diced

They are already edited. Encore is a premium channel not a cable channel so there is no reason for the show to be edited unless the unedited versions are not available

Agree to disagree. My point still remains that there should not be edited episode being aired on a station that does not need time for commercials. Premium channels are under a whole new set of rules and regulations so it is not simply regular cable.
Like I said before, the unedited episodes may not be available so I don't blame Encore. I am sure they would play the unedited episodes if they had them.

They don't care so I won't waste my time contacting them. I am sure we would come off as losers contacting them over edited content. They would get a good kick out of that! It is not that important anyhow.
