I read on this board that the Great Gleason was released onto DVD. I have been a Honeymooners fan for over 18 years. I don't ever remember seeing this. At one point, I was under the impression that MPI never released this onto DVD because they feared it wouldn't sell well.

I wish this was on dvd. The PBS special from a few years ago is on dvd - I forget the title but Jeff Garlin from Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Goldbergs - and most of the clips come from The Great Gleason. But I would love to that on dvd, too.

The PBS special is "Jackie Gleason: Genius At Work” from 2006.

Yes, most clips are from "The Great Gleason.” There are some new clips added.
You can tell they used The Honeymooners clips from 30 years ago, because they are not the remastered clips from the 2011 DVD box set.

There is a bonus on the Genius At Work DVD.
There is 11 minutes from the 5/15/54: Gleason celebrating 25 years in show biz.

Here is what is partially shown:
Opening - Gleason: "And Away We Go"
2nd: Loudmouth: "Here's Charlie"
3rd: Fenwick: "You're A Niced Man"
4th: Poor Soul: "The Poor Soul"
5th: Reggie: "I'm Reggie Van Gleason III"
6th: Joe: "Hy'a Mr. Duanhee"
7th: Honeymooners: "One of These Days-POW!"
8th: Finale: "You're A Dan-Dan-Dandy Bunch" w/ Carney, Meadows & dancers.

This episode was used to promote Gleason's "And Away We Go" album.

Why they couldn't include the entire hour is of course puzzling!?!?
If it's due to music clearance rights, one would think the Gleason estate would own that music.
