My dad's in NYC and he said he could see them from his hotel window. oh wow. yea, we are 8.6 miles away and we can see them. i could prolly post a pic of the view from here once i capture it. . .*sighs* and last nite the 911 story was on. Oh My God how sad i FEEL for those guys! The priest was number 0001 to be pronounced dead. . I swear i just started crying after i watched it. and i couldnt help but think, 'my dads friend is in there' :crying: so scary, you heard the crashes and they said that was people jumping out of the window...omg ima stop now. . :( :crying: :( :crying: :( :crying: Pitooey 03-11-2002, 09:46 PM As you know I'm from here too and I started to cry in the beginning of the 9/11 film. It's not the same when you look at that spot over there. All the buildings are so low. I think I will always get choked up when I see that empty spot. One of my fireman friends survived the disaster and he was on TV so I felt better seeing him talking about the disaster. Thank God he didn't perrish. His little children would not have had their daddy. :crying: I do feel better seeing the beams of light though. I like that idea. Excuse my ignorance (I haven't watched the news in days) but I haven't even heard about this. I'm assuming these beams of light are supposed to be a memorial or something? Did they just turn them on today? I'll watch the news tonight and see if they mention it. patriot: To those who lost their lives on 9/11... Pitooey 04-01-2002, 12:04 AM Today My family and I took a drive to see the WTC Beam of lights. What we saw was a very bright light in the heavens above. It looked like a big cloud that shown brightly in the sky above the beams. You could hardly see the light at all. I had to squint in order to see the lights. Maybe because it looked foggy. We saw the Statue of Liberty with it's shining light and the Empire State Building Red/White and Blue. There were also some planes passing by the beam of lights. It looked so solemm over there. Then it started to rain........... patriot: patriot: patriot: patriot: patriot: patriot: patriot: *Marilyn Monroe* 04-01-2002, 12:27 AM OMG that is so freaking sad!! You can see those lights everywhere! (not really, but, if you;re within either of the five boroughs, you;ll be able to, if not the beams, at least the light on the clouds..) Pitooey 04-01-2002, 01:16 PM Living in NY you really missed the towers though. Mostly everywhere you went you could see them. Now it's just a vast space of emptiness. I saw the 2nd movie King Kong when it was filmed over there with Jessica Lange. I saw King Kong on the ground when they were filming the death scene. patriot: When will the government catch Osama Bin Laden? :livid: :smash: :angryfire :angryfire :angryfire Warm & Fuzzy 04-01-2002, 05:18 PM Originally posted by JennyLee22 Living in NY you really missed the towers though. They must be amazing in person... I envy the seventh grade class this year - they get to go to NYC in about a week or so and get to see them firsthand! I was actually looking through my New York photo album and found a picture I hadn't seen before, with a note on the back from one of my friends. It said this was the picture she had taken with my camera that first day, and I turned over to see what she had taken of -- The Twin Towers. Amazing how only now I see this picture. :crying: |
