From that same episode, an early one for Gregg:

It IS hard to find photos online. His later look was more prevalent on the series, but so far nothing is turning up.

Yeah he had longer hair later on! It's still a cute picture, thank you BB!!

He should've been a regular on the show or made more appearances.

Here's what I was looking for, as far as how I remember him. This later look for Gregg reminds me a little of how Stan Livingston ("Chip") appeared by the final season of My Three Sons. Here we go:

Remember how Emily (Nancy Walker) disappoved of Gregg's hair? Very outspoken!

Great picture!!!I loved him with the longer hair!!! Those Fedderson boys are handsome!!! I wonder why Mike changed his last name to Minor?

Also did Gregg have a nice singing voice like Mike? I wish I could see some Family Affair eps with Gregg in them. I haven't seen him in so long!

Ironically, Miss Garver says that despite Gregg being Mr. Fedderson's son and playing a character with the same given name, she actually liked him enough to have a crush on him but his father hated the idea of his son dating 'the help' . Remember how he was introed with his mother Emily disapproving the match and Cissy believing because she thought she (Cissy) was 'too good' for him due to her being quite well heeled but Emily set the record straight that her son was too good for HER due to Emily having tunnel vision re working so many years to make 'my son-the INTERN' a reality. Would this be reverse snobbery reversed in real life? Sadly, she said that the younger Fedderson wound up on somewhat strained terms with his father and had nowhere near the 'happy ending' either Cissy or Mrs. Turner would have envisioned for his character.

I think you're mixing up Gregg with Emily's son. As you indicated, Emily's son was studying to be a doctor, but he was not Gregg. He was played by another actor who did appear late in the series, and had a brief romance with Cissy. Gregg by contrast appeared in several seasons.

The Gregg character, played by Gregg Fedderson, was definitely not Emily's son. But when Emily met him, she made several comments about his hair being too long (and noted that her son was on a frequent haircut schedule). Gregg worked at a gas station -- not in the medical field.

OK, thanks for clarifying that, biff.
Well, it's sad that the younger Mr. Fedderson's life didn't turn out as satisfactory for him than the show's characters.

Yeah!! I didn't think Gregg worked in the medical field! He wasn't real bright from what I remember !:D I don't mean that in a bad way. He was adorable. That's cute sometimes when a guy is good looking but not real bright! :D ;)

Wow it has been SO long since I've seen Gregg! The eps I've caught of Family Affair recently were early seasons and he wasn't in them yet! Maybe I could get some DVD's of Family affair!;) What seasons feature him a lot?

Favorite scene with Gregg:

Cissy and her friend (also female) have just begun sharing living expenses together in an apartment, away from home for the first time. Gregg drops by uninvited, and checks out what's in the refrigerator.

After helping himself to a piece of leftover pizza, Gregg squabbles a little with Cissy and then leaves. Almost immediately, there's a knock on the door. Cissy opens partially to answer, and Gregg hands over what remains of his pizza slice -- much to Cissy's consternation... !:)

Love Uncle Bill's death stare when Gregg comments to Cissy before they leave for the graduation party that he will get to see what she looks like in the morning.

Gregg has to deal with 3 people who sort of question his suitability to "court" Cissy.

First we have French, who is more accustomed to young men who are very formal in both demeanor and attire. Informal means or approaches, leading to getting together with Cissy, will not "fly" so easily.

Then there's Bill, who must be questioning whether a service station attendant could eventually support Cissy suitably in a marriage. Gregg is certainly polite in his presence, but nervousness can hinder his ability to say the right things.

Finally, in the final season, Emily disapproves of the length of his hair.

Protectiveness of the unmarried daughter is not an uncommon TV sitcom theme, as had been seen for example on Make Room for Daddy. Family Affair takes a very gentle approach to the humor. By contrast, look at the father of the girl Eb wants to marry on Green Acres; look at Uncle Joe's reaction to Orrin Pike on Petticoat Junction. There is downright meanness and unreasonable behavior that would never occur on a show like FA.
