Not emails from ebay or employers

What about people who don't own a computer and can't get access to one?
What about people who don't own a cell phone?

There is not many people in 2014 that don't have a cell phone and computer
Family Ties Forever! 08-23-2014, 02:17 AM Not everyone can text. Some people don't have the type of phone that has texting capabilities. Also, there are those like me where texting doesn't work, because I can't see it. At least on the computer I can enlarge things.
I think e-mail is a better method of communicating then FB or texting. At least for some. I, personally. don't want my whole life on FB or any social media website, like Twitter, MySpace, My Journal, etc. I'd rather talk to a person on the phone, in person or through e-mail.
For those who feel e-mail is old, then I'm sure texting and/or FB is great for them. Everyone is different. What works great for one person may not work great for someone else.
comedyfreak 08-23-2014, 07:36 AM Personally, I hate texting..I'm too slow at it, I'd rather talk to the person instead. Lately I have found that not a lot of people are facebooking as much anymore.
Torgo 08-23-2014, 09:30 AM Disagree. I use Email all the time. Hate texting, rarely use Facebook anymore.
Penny Lane 08-23-2014, 12:53 PM I use email almost exclusively. I don't text.
JamesG 08-23-2014, 12:57 PM I think it's an age/generational thing. You won't find many of today's youth who are not texting or using some sort of social media.
For them, e-mail may be "outdated" since they communicate via Facebook, Instagram, Vine, Twitter... whatever the latest "hot" company is.
Older people, for the most part, don't have the interest or time for the current technology and are "sticking to the basics". They may be the ones w/ no computer, internet, or cell phone (if they have a cell phone it's one of those "for emergency use only" and not for their main communication).
Penny Lane 08-23-2014, 01:12 PM :D
TVFactFan 08-23-2014, 01:33 PM :D
That looks very odd lol
biffbronson 08-24-2014, 01:29 AM Email is a good way to get coupons and other retailer offers. A lot of it is a real waste of time, but sometimes things like "buy one, get one free" can really save you some money.
I'm like some of you in that I don't text or use Facebook. Nor do I plan to!
James28 08-24-2014, 01:52 AM I am 21 years of age, and I do not own a mobile device. You have to use those things to text and take "selfie"s with. I have gotten so used to typing on a keyboard that I am reluctant to get a mobile device. Texting is actually more time-consuming than typing on a regular keyboard.

I call BS.
Why do I recall you saying that you're a "senior citizen" around here?

but once you get a FB it's no need to keep in touch by email anymore
James28 08-24-2014, 04:44 PM Truth is, I really am 21 years of age, and I was actually pretending that I was a LOT older that I really am. I actually lied about being in my 80s for years (2007-2013, most of my teen years) because I disliked my own generation (Generation Y or Z, Millennials, or whatever) and wished I was born during a better one. :( I'm sorry for that.

It's okay. I didn't tell anybody my age during the first year I was here. You really didn't have to tell anybody your age though.

Choosing not to reveal your age and lying about your age are two very different things.

Yea I agree. The reason I did it is because there were so many younger people here when I joined you sort of feel out of place. Once I got comfortable with everyone I told them. I remember we had a thread over in the Random boards one night and everyone was after me to divulge my age but I still held out. I did tell them I was in my 30's though. Unfortunately I was late 30's at the time.lol
