Pee-wee’s next big adventure is landing him on "The Blacklist".

The NBC drama has tapped Paul Reubens in multiple Season 2 episodes as Mr. Vargas, a dapper, finicky “muscle” who handles delicate situations in the criminal underworld, EW.com reports.

Executive producer Jon Bokenkamp notes that the role will be “totally different” from Reubens’ well known Pee-wee character.

Whatever happened to the big Pee-wee comeback we were promised this year? I thought we were supposed to be getting a new movie and TV show.

by Michael Schneider

Paul Reubens — the actor sometimes known as Pee-Wee Herman — joins NBC's "The Blacklist" for at least two episodes next month, and TV Guide Magazine has the first look at his character.

Reubens plays Mr. Vargas, a mysterious fixer for the underground criminal world.

He first appears in the episode 'Dr. Linus Creel', which airs on Monday, Oct. 6 at 10/9c.

In the episode, Red (James Spader) warns Liz (Megan Boone) that a social-psychological experiment may be behind a series of killings at the hands of seemingly nonviolent people.

Was The Blacklist's Mr. Vargas Specifically Created For Pee-Wee's Paul Reubens? (https://www.looper.com/1361014/the-blacklist-mr-vargas-created-for-paul-reubens/)

"The Blacklist" creator Jon Bokenkamp had Paul Reubens in mind for Mr. Vargas, and Reubens brought his own sensibilities to the role.
