Thank you for all the reviews you do for all the great comedies. I have to admit that I really liked "The Last Show". Yes, it was a little sentimental but having all the gang back was wonderful. Sue Ann ended up being my favorite character because of Betty White. Great ending to a great show.

Thank you for your kind words, Willbo! As you know, I do not care for the finale, but I am in complete agreement with you about White's portrayal of Sue Ann Nivens; such phenomenal casting... all the way around.

Because you did such an excellent job on your project, I am going to agree with you on "Sue Ann's Sister" as the best ep of Season 7, meaning we match on five of the seven seasons. The scene in which we, along with the members of the newsroom, get to see Sue Ann's vibrating bed and ceiling mirror, is one of the show's funniest.

That said, I do disagree with you on "Mary Midwife", which I think gets short shrift on your list. True, Georgette having her baby was a "big event", but as I recall there were tons of laughs. I remember the physical comedy of Ted trying to get up the courage to walk into the room to see the baby and his knees buckling; Mary and Lou getting off great digs in their dispute about Lou's weight; Murray tossing around one-liners left and right about Ted; and Sue Ann with what might have been the best line of the ep when she cracked, "That's the most exciting thing that ever happened in Mary's bedroom"!

Also, I was actually very OK with how they handled the several tie-up-loose-ends eps. To me, "The Last Show" was perfectly funny and poignant - in addition to actually giving us closure. What fan of the show ever will forget the tearful human amoeba moving toward the door? Or that Ted was the only one who got to stay? Having since watched several other great show finales that left me disappointed makes me appreciate TMTMS's even more.

Your description of "Lou Dates Mary" was spot-on: ... this brilliant episode gives the audience exactly what they think they want: Lou and Mary together as a romantic couple. Fortunately, as the episode demonstrates, the pair have zero romantic chemistry, so contrary to the then rumors, the series would NOT end with Lou and Mary hooking up. But, it’s such a smart idea to have the characters test this out in a way that doesn’t stretch credibility, and also doesn’t disappoint the audience.

And along those lines, in "Mary's Three Husbands", using that trio's imaginations allowed the scenes to be played very over the top, and was the way to go. I never wanted to see Mary end up with any of them, but it was a lot of fun seeing how they thought it would go.

To summarize, I thought you did an awesome job with your ratings, and when I get any more precious free time, I'll check out your site to see if you analyzed any of my other favorite sitcoms!
