“In classic Dallas (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1723760/board/flat/234846686?p=1) fashion the producers and writers needed a season ending shocker. After three great years, I was ready to move on and pursue other projects. It culminated in the perfect opportunity to surprise fans and deliver that shocking twist. I enjoyed my time on Dallas and am grateful for the opportunity to work with Warner Bros and TNT, and I wish the cast and crew all the very best!” -- Jesse Metcalfe (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1723760/board/flat/234865643?p=1)

I read an interview with the show runner and from what it says, there will be a season 4, as they seemed to have given the show a ton of extra money to refilm the final scene with Jesse and his statement above indicates it is not the last show.
Wish more people realized it was on.

Warning: Major spoilers ahead!

Who was your money on? The TNT promos (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_b4pl8OuUg4) had warned Dallas fans that someone, specifically a Ewing, would die in the Season 3 finale. Did anyone believe the doomed Southforker would be Jesse Metcalfe's Christopher Ewing?

Christopher had just told Elena he was heading out to his car moments before one of evil Nicolas's henchmen blew the car up with an explosion no one inside the auto could have survived. If he really is dead, what was behind the decision to kill off a character who has been a part of the action dating back to the original CBS series?

The TNT reboot has yet to be renewed for a fourth season, with star Patrick Duffy — whose Bobby Ewing is the adopted father of Christopher — tweeting on Monday (https://twitter.com/therealpduffy/status/514086956028813312) that ratings for the finale "may decide a Season 4."

Did Metcalfe request a leave from the show? Was killing off a major cast member a cost-cutting move in anticipation of a Season 4 renewal? Had Christopher not made his way back to the car yet when the bomb went off?

Or, in a throwback to one of the most famous, or rather infamous, Dallas plots, will Christopher return sometime in the future, smiling in the shower and indicating that a portion of past storylines was all just a bad dream?

You know, like father, like son?

The TNT series, which has already survived and thrived storyline-wise after the death of icon Larry Hagman, has been a hit with viewers of the CBS original, thanks to the presence of original series stars like Hagman, Duffy, Linda Gray, and Ken Kercheval, as well as the next generation of Ewings and their loved ones, played by Metcalfe, Josh Henderson, Jordana Brewster, and Julie Gonzalo.

But The Wrap reports (http://www.thewrap.com/dallas-cast-rallies-fans-to-watch-season-finale-as-tnt-mulls-renewal/) that ratings for Season 3 have slipped from Season 2 in certain demographics, while TNT would only comment that, "Renewal decisions are based on an entire season's performance, including time-shifted and on-demand viewing."

Here's our official hope that the show lands back on the network for at least another season. Not just because we want to know what happened to Christopher, but because there's a place in primetime for the kind of soapy drama Dallas does so well.
