That is totally cool!! I'm looking forward to seeing them.;) Even though season one was funny, I liked the later seasons better because they were in color. A show about a tropical island you really need to see the pretty colors! ;)
biffbronson 08-18-2014, 04:49 AM About the only thing I didn't like about Season 1 (color or b & w either way) was the sometimes sparse credits. For example, Louis Quinn from 77 Sunset Strip has a speaking part in one episode, but was not credited.
Otherwise I like all of it -- Wrongway Feldman, Vito Scotti as the WWII Japanese soldier, on and on!

Vito Scotti/The Japanese soldier - "You steam glasses"!!!! :D  That was classic!!! ;)
torcan 08-18-2014, 02:33 PM I've seen the colorized episodes before and they look horrible. The promo on the website seems to indicate they might have redone them since then.
I still prefer the original black and white.

From what I've read on the Gilligan's Island FB page, seems like about 90% or more of the comments did not want to have the 1st season colorized. They had a picture on there that was a clip from the series that had been colorized, and it looked awful...the colors looked weird!
I will always want to see Season 1 as it originally was. They just can't leave well enough alone, can they!

Same with shows like "Bewitched" and "I Dream of Jeannie", whose first seasons were black and white. That's the way it was shot, that's the way it was first shown, and that's the way it should stay. No matter how good the technology, it will never look quite right.

Well it will be something different to watch. :)
LTCProductions 08-20-2014, 08:12 PM I'm watching the first episode now. The colorization looks a little off compared to seasons 2 & 3. The Skipper's shirt looks more black than blue.

Yes the color was amiss! Too dark or something! And Skipper's shirt wasn't just more black than blue , it was TOTALLY black!!!! Also I didn't think Ginger's hair looked the right shade of red! It wasn't a vibrant red like it's supposed to be, more of an auburn red
Hazel Anyday 08-21-2014, 06:14 PM YESSHHH!! :talk: This is the best news I've heard since ME TV started it's national broadcast. I can't wait to see these wonderful color editions of Gilligan. Now if ME TV will only show color versions of I Love Lucy, life would be perfect.:D
Mace Dolex 08-21-2014, 07:34 PM I even created a thread on this too:

I'm gonna start watching to see it these are newly re-colored or the same ones from days bygone on TNT.
biffbronson 08-21-2014, 07:47 PM If you watch closely, inconsistencies do pop up. In last night's Episode 1, the Professor's socks were grey in one scene -- while the correct white in others.
Obviously these won't appear exactly like Seasons 2 and 3, far from it -- but it's an interesting look, and some scenes did come off quite well. I realize some of you are totally against colorization and I respect your stand, but as long as the original b/w remains more prevalent, it's at least a conversation starter.

I saw a "colorization (C) 1991" notice in the credits of last night's episode, so it's probably a TNT print.

So do I.
Hazel Anyday 08-22-2014, 10:55 PM While I'm very happy they're finally showing colorized Gilligan, unfortunately, these are the early efforts of colorization from the early '90's. Colorization as it's done today (if you can find it being done now) looks beautiful. Bright, accurate, precise, so good you can't tell it was colorized and not actually shot in color. I love colorized shows and movies but I must admit these early less than perfect efforts at colorization will do nothing to improve it in the eyes of the anti-color Jamokes out there. They really should have re-colorized this program and shown it the way the beautiful colorization process works today in 2014, not the ancient early efforts from the late '80's and early '90's. This is the type of thing that turned so many off to colorization. But if you want a good example of what colorization can be, just look at the Bewitched S.1 & S.2 or I Dream of Jeanie S.1 color versions. If only Gilligan was re-colorized to this modern level.
TV Guy 08-24-2014, 12:04 PM The colorized versions of "Jeannie" and "Bewitched" were done almost 15 years ago, and while they are better than "Gilligan", they are pretty primitive by today's standards as well.
I'm a purist myself. But if you want an example of what today's colorizations look like, then seek out the recent "I Love Lucy" DVD of colorized episodes. Those were all done recently and are far better than Gilligan, Bewitched, and Jeannie colorizations.
Finnegan 08-24-2014, 12:33 PM Personally I wish they wouldn't colorize these shows. I like seeing them in their original form. In fact, I even wish that they'd show them with the commercials that were on TV during the time when these shows were first aired.
Hazel Anyday 08-25-2014, 07:48 PM I overwhelmingly prefer the color on Bewitched and I Dream of Jeanie, mainly because the color is bright, accurate and anything but faded out. I have a problem though with the very latest colorizations, I Love Lucy, the Holiday Inn movie, Best of Laurel & Hardy colorized in 2012 etc. that is the color is washed out, faded out and barely there. In fact it's necessary to turn the color intensity dial on your TV all the way up so that these latest examples appear to be in color at all. They remind me of the way ancient photographs used to be transformed into color, with a look of very faded color on a b/w picture. They're colorizing these latest examples like they were ashamed to do it right, so if they add just the bare minimum of color maybe the overly vocal critics won't say anything. Big mistake, they'll never be pleased. Only way to please them is to show them completely b/w.
I say if you're going to colorize, then do it right, make sure the color is bright, clear and accurate to every item in the picture. Mainly make that color bright so that you don't have to turn up the color dial on the TV to see it in color. Bewitched and Jeannie never had this problem, the color was accurate and nice and beautifully bright. So it is possible to make a colorized picture accurate and bright, they just seem too timid to do it today, IF they do it at all.
So, what happens? They wind up pleasing no one, the people who don't like colorization will never like it and the people who love colorization won't like a faded washed out picture, that's not what we want to see in a color version.
1/2 hearted colorizing never won faint hearts nor pure colorized hearts either. :rainbow1:
cloggedmind 10-10-2014, 04:20 PM Got all of these, now, except "Birds Gotta Fly, Fish Gotta Talk". Wonder if these will air again when and if the series cycles thru again, and if this skipped episode will show up?

I still prefer the original black and white.I agree the eps were colored in sepia tone wich made them look very washed out

It always annoys when TV stations skip seasonal episodes of shows.

I would like that too Finnegan. I just think knowing the first season was done in black and white and then you see it colorized it , it just doesn't look the way you want it to. Commercials . They had to be better than what we are seeing now.
Rewinder 02-12-2015, 08:11 PM I remember watching the color episodes of the black & white episodes of gilligans island on tnt too but didn't know their was color versions of the black and white episodes of bewitched and i dream of jeannie.
antman67 06-29-2015, 01:23 PM I caught a colorized season 1 episode on MeTV at work. Not much was edited out for commercial which is NICE+ but because I don't get this channel at home I can't DVR it. Can anyone help?
Flying Dutchman 07-02-2015, 11:32 AM I would love to see it. Is METV the one you can get from the digital antenna?
Bonniegirl 07-02-2015, 02:10 PM It bugs me that they can't get Skipper's shirt bluer ! It looks black almost!!!

Yes, if there's an affiliate in your area.
antman67 08-23-2015, 05:25 PM Can it be recorded from the Internet streamed somehow ?
