I've been watching Bewitched about 2 or 3 times a week in consecutive order. I'm now up to Season 5 and I just noticed in the episode "Marriage, Witches Style" that when it came time to play Serena and Sam together the show really got lazy. Instead of the usual split screen trick photography (a la Patty Duke style) they actually used a different actress in scenes with Sam and not shot from behind, I mean face to face right next to each other it was a different actress who was supposed to be Serena who's face was was clearly in the picture. Usually a different actress as Serena is shot from behind and you only see the wig and head from the back, but in at least 2 or 3 different scenes in the last 1/2 of this episode the obviously different actress playing Serena is shot from the front, with her very non-Liz Montgomery face showing boldly and unashamedly. If the guy in the last thread who can't figure the difference in looks between Liz & Barbara watched this show I'm sure he'd be completely fooled but anyone with eyes sure won't. I can't believe Bewitched got so lazy and not bothering with any trick shots, just showed the stand-in actress' face right to the camera 2 and 3 different scenes.

I'll have to watch this episode and see.

For me it's at the very end of the episode where Samantha and Serena are at the door watching where it's most obvious that they just have the double doing the scene and you see both their faces. I remember doing a double take because it was unexpected. Maybe they were running out of time filming or they were tired and just thought no one would even notice. Back then did anybody ever think the audience would have the power to pause or playback any show on TV.

There are also other brief scenes too, they sit side beside on a bench and in another scene too. I didn't take notes, but I know what I saw.

Wait till you get to "Serena Stops the Show" in season 6! At 1:15 when Serena and Sam walk out of the kitchen to greet Darrin and Larry, Liz is Serena and the blond follows behind her (was that Melody?) as Samantha and quickly bolts to the right when they get to where Darrin and Larry are standing. Pretty obvious that isn't Liz.

I can't say I ever noticed anything that blatant! I'll have to watch more carefully in episodes with Serena!

Her name is Melody McCord and she was Elizabeth Montgomery's stand-in.
