I've been wondering about this too. I have high hopes for these channels but something is telling me I probably won't even be able to get them on directv.

The main shows I want to see are......because they haven't been seen on TV in a long time or they don't have DVD releases:
Perfect Strangers
The Drew Carey Show
Major Dad
Chico and the Man
Maude
Benson
It's a Living
Empty Nest
Life Goes On

I don't think it's "dead". They're probably just busy finalizing things before the channels premiere.

However, I would like to get confirmation on where these channels will be available...they won't do me any good if they're not on directv.

I'm hoping The Quad is a broadcast station like Antenna TV or MeTV.

There FB page has not been updated, posters are asking whats happening and no response form them, there web page is not updated, the You Tube page is not updated, and Garth Anciers FB page has no mention of updates, even there phone # 310-499-2060 is just a VM. I thnk they owe it to keep good PR and out of respect to the 758 likes on there FB page to provide updates.- Although the concept of 4 decade channels in a row is imaginative and makes sense, maybe they could not get cable/satellite affiliates to buy off on 4 channels of bandwidth back to back ?

You would think that being were close to the end quarter '14 as to when they say will launch they would provide any updates.- Maybe they are keeping everything hush, hush till the time is right.

I guess if it's by late Sept/early Oct and we hear nothing- We always have Antenna TV, Metv, Cozi, This TV, Encore-black, Encore-Classic, and if your in Denver area there is a LPTV channel called classic TV- I have seen shows on there from My Little Margie, Mickie Ronnie, I married Joan,(Some are public domain content) and even Fractured Flickers with Hans Conrad. Of course there is no PSIP data listed and even the station themselves say a show is coming on and it's a different show, real sloppy way of establishing yourself with viewers.

Honestly, if DISH doesn't get the quad then I hope nobody gets it! Just sick of reading about cool channels that I'm not able to get!

I received this email today:

Hi. You are receiving this note because you kindly signed up to be kept informed about the launch dates for THE QUAD networks in your area.

I wanted to write to you personally to explain where we are as of today.

Our original plan was to launch late in 2014. To that end, we have met with each television studio that owns the approximately multitude of series we’d like to feature. The majority of these series are not currently on television, let alone in HD. Through our process, it’s become very clear to us that the public and advertiser demand to support these networks is robust.

The speed bump is this.

We’ve made great progress with each of the major cable and satellite operators, but the largest operators are now involved in sensitive and unpredictable mergers that require government approval. Understandably, these operators can’t currently commit to an ambitious multiple network launch.

Comcast’s proposed merger with Time Warner Cable, for example, means that your cable operator today may very well change if the merger occurs; some Comcast and Time Warner customers will be transferred to Charter, others to a new company, and the fate of others is still unfolding. So, on the cable side, the fates of a vast majority of US customers is unclear.

Similarly, on the satellite side, AT&T’s proposed merger with DirecTV will dramatically change the playing field for their customers.

The remaining major operators – Dish, Cablevision, Cox, Verizon and Mediacom – don’t comprise, all together, the minimum number of homes needed for our advertiser-supported service..

We’ve chosen to place our plans “on hold” until these mergers work their way through the government approval process, and the inevitable dust settles. We expect that to take between six months and one year.

Thank you so much for your kind support of THE QUAD, and we look forward serving you in the years to come.

Sincerely,

Garth Ancier

CEO Quad Media Partners, Inc.

I just got the same email today from them. I don't really understand it either. I'm also confused about the part where it says that your cable company may change too. Just because Comcast merged with Time Warner, does that mean that other companies may buy out other cable companies? I've got New Wave Communications. I wish I had a better known company, but that's all that's offered in my area.

I'd suggest Quad to be a broadcast show and have it air on digital converters, then it can get a chance on cable and satellite.

I've given up hope for these channels. It's taking way too long and we haven't gotten any new updates. Besides, it probably wouldn't be on DIRECTV anyways.

I think you're better off waiting for the new CBS Decades channels, which will probably launch next year. It's the same idea but with a 1950s channel instead of one for the 1990s, which I like better, and it should be free instead of being a premium service, which I like a lot better!
