View Full Version : Complete series from Shout! - December 9th tlc38tlc38 08-08-2014, 12:32 PM http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Jeffersons-The-Complete-Series/20155 YES!!! YES!!! CAN'T WAIT!!! This is a HUGE year for major releases! snowpeck 08-08-2014, 12:51 PM Has anybody suggested throwing in the four episodes of "Checking In" as a bonus? If they can include the entire first season of "Fish" in the "Barney Miller" set, surely they can include that. boechsner 08-08-2014, 01:04 PM Finally! I already pre-ordered! TV_Fan 08-08-2014, 01:10 PM I'm not interested in re-buying what I already own. I only want the remaining seasons. They better releases those seperately. Otherwise this just proves that buying individual seasons when they first come out does nothing but penalize you for not waiting for a complete series. tlc38tlc38 08-08-2014, 01:20 PM Finally! I already pre-ordered! Me too! If you average it out to about $30 per season, you'd be paying $150 for the remaining 5 seasons...so, if you think about it, it's like you're buying seasons 7-11 and getting seasons 1-6 free. boechsner 08-08-2014, 01:28 PM You're exactly right! $160 plus tax = $174/5 remaining seasons = $34.80 each approx. which is about what I paid for each of the first 6 seasons. But in this case it's $174/11 = $15.81 for each season. Good deal in my book!! Me too! If you average it out to about $30 per season, you'd be paying $150 for the remaining 5 seasons...so, if you think about it, it's like you're buying seasons 7-11 and getting seasons 1-6 free. lj01 08-08-2014, 02:18 PM just to note, lately I've seen on pre-orders if you order directly from Shout! they ship a few weeks early, not sure if that's the case here, but if you absolutely cannot wait for George & Weezy, might want to wait for the Shout! pre-order page to come up and see if the early shipping is in effect. Ron Ron 08-08-2014, 02:38 PM Great news!! myowndrownedworld 08-08-2014, 03:02 PM Made my day Would be a bonus if they perhaps included the four episodes of checking out and even the backdoor pilot of The jeffersons that aired on All in the family. TVFactFan 08-08-2014, 09:15 PM I'm not interested in re-buying what I already own. I only want the remaining seasons. They better releases those seperately. Otherwise this just proves that buying individual seasons when they first come out does nothing but penalize you for not waiting for a complete series. you sound stupid. How else will you see seasons 7 to 11? So you basically have no choice unless you decided to not watch the seasons at all Why not own the entire series which may look a lot different than what was already release TVFactFan 08-08-2014, 09:17 PM Finally! I already pre-ordered! How much is it to pre-order? TVFactFan 08-08-2014, 09:18 PM what's cool about this release is it comes right before the 40th Anniversary tlc38tlc38 08-08-2014, 09:21 PM Box art and new info: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Jeffersons-The-Complete-Series/20156 TV_Fan 08-08-2014, 09:28 PM you sound stupid. How else will you see seasons 7 to 11? So you basically have no choice unless you decided to not watch the seasons at all Why not own the entire series which may look a lot different than what was already release Ok so you're saying anyone who buys individual seasons of a show is stupid because a complete series may be released halfway through the run? Shout Factory has already done its fair share of pissing people off who bought the first four seasons of Bob Newhart. I will wait because they WILL release the individual seasons eventually. If not I'll buy the whole series through alternate means because I'm not double dipping. But in a sense this is teaching consumers they are better off waiting and not buying individual seasons of shows because they'll only get screwed in the long run. Who gets the have the complete series first?? Not the people who bought the individual seasons when they came out and don't want to re-buy what they already own. Nope those who already spent their money have to wait. Why do you think Fox pulled their planned complete series of MTM? Only half the series was on DVD so I don't see what the problem is for a true fan who has been waiting for seasons 7 to 11 since 2007 TV_Fan 08-08-2014, 09:48 PM What you are saying is only true if the Jeffersons had all their seasons on DVD. Only half the series was on DVD so I don't see what the problem is for a true fan who has been waiting for seasons 7 to 11 since 2007 OK let me spell it out for you as a TRUE FAN. A TRUE FAN BOUGHT THE FIRST SIX SEASONS WANTING THE COMPLETE SERIES TO BE RELEASED ON DVD. A TRUE FAN HAS 6 SEASONS. A TRUE FAN DOES NOT WANT TO RE BUY SIX SEASONS TO GET SEASONS 7 THROUGH 11! Understand? How would you like it if you want through grades 1 through 6 wanting to get your high school diploma and then someone comes along and says the only way you can get your diploma is if you go back through grades 1 through 6 again in order to get credit for grades 7 and up? tlc38tlc38 08-08-2014, 09:56 PM How much is it to pre-order? Technically, with the price that's on amazon now, you're not really paying for seasons 1-6 again. Seasons 7-11 is 5 seasons and that averages out to about $30 a season. It's really not that bad of a deal. TVFactFan 08-08-2014, 10:02 PM Right now, it's $160.99 plus tax on Amazon. what's the deadline to re-order? I'm just relieved the series is out on DVD lol BigManMike 08-08-2014, 11:32 PM I see I shouldn't have bought that Mill Creek release back in May. I will probably either sell that or give it to Salvation Army then buy the complete series set. But on Facebook, Tvshowsondvd did respond to some comments and said that Shout would be releasing Seasons 7-11 individually as well for people who already have 1-6. TVFactFan 08-08-2014, 11:47 PM Amazon doesn't charge your card until your order ships out. I thought somebody said you have to have the money available? How else it is reserved if the 160 is not available? tlc38tlc38 08-08-2014, 11:50 PM The box art looks like J.J. painted it on. So far, all of the Norman Lear complete series sets ("All In the Family" & "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman") released by Shout! Factory have had the same "painted" artwork. I actually like it and hope they do the same with "Maude" and "One Day at a Time" when/if they're released. JSP 08-09-2014, 12:19 AM I thought somebody said you have to have the money available? How else it is reserved if the 160 is not available? You don't. I've pre-ordered things off of Amazon before. That happened with a CD I got recently. TVFactFan 08-09-2014, 12:32 AM Yes. JSP 08-09-2014, 12:48 AM My only concern now is I don't think my mailbox is wide enough for that Box set. What happens if you are not home when Amazon delivers something you purchased? If you're at an apartment your mailbox probably isn't. If you have any nearby relatives who have a house or something maybe they can accept the package for you and then you go pick it up there. If you have a house, as far as I know if you're not at home, they just leave it on the porch or something. If you have bushes they might hide it behind the bushes. I think for my apartment they say if you have a package you have to go get it at the nearest post office. You might have to do that. No idea. I guess you've got four months to figure it out! TVFactFan 08-09-2014, 12:51 AM If you're at an apartment your mailbox probably isn't. But getting it delivered to your workplace is certainly an option too. comedyfreak 08-09-2014, 04:56 AM First Batman and now The Jeffersons I'm going to pre-order my copy. myowndrownedworld 08-09-2014, 05:14 AM Nice It's called the dee-luxe edition which normally means we must be getting much more than just all 11 seasons. Hopefully what i said a few posts above plus special features like featurettes and perhaps audio commentaries by the few surviving cast members. Lovely box art. It won't look like it will take a lot of room on my shelf. tlc38tlc38 08-09-2014, 10:09 AM Lovely box art. It won't look like it will take a lot of room on my shelf. I'm assuming they'll do like they did with "The Bob Newhart Show" and put 2 seasons per DVD case. If that's the case, there'll be 6 DVD cases and possibly a slim DVD case with bonus features. Kasey 08-09-2014, 11:25 AM The box art looks like J.J. painted it on. All of Shout's recent Complete Series from Sony have the same type of cover art: Mary Hartman, All in the Family and now this one. James"Thunder"Early 08-09-2014, 11:59 AM I've been waiting for this for forever, so it's about time. TV_Fan 08-09-2014, 07:08 PM Well I guess you will never see seasons 7 to 11 on DVD because they are not going to be individually released. You wanna bet money on that? You clearly have no idea how the DVD release business works. TV_Fan 08-09-2014, 07:10 PM Technically, with the price that's on amazon now, you're not really paying for seasons 1-6 again. Seasons 7-11 is 5 seasons and that averages out to about $30 a season. It's really not that bad of a deal. I haven't paid $30 for a season set of any show for quite awhile. If there are any extras I might consider it. Then the problem becomes how to get rid of the season 1-6 sets because they will become for all intents and purposes worthless. 1960'sTVfan 08-09-2014, 09:28 PM It seems that the trend these days, is for TV show DVD's to be released in a complete series package, rather than the season by season method. FuriosityShell 08-10-2014, 09:38 AM I have a feeling that they're throwing a bonus disc with special features in there. I think they're just duplicating the original Seasons 1-6 discs from the Sony sets and adding new Seasons 7-11 discs. It says that it's a 33-DVD set. 3 discs per season, except season one was a 2 disc set when it was released so the 11 seasons are on 32 discs with an extra bonus disc, like the All in the Family complete series set. tlc38tlc38 08-10-2014, 10:00 AM I have a feeling that they're throwing a bonus disc with special features in there. They did a bonus disc in a slim DVD case for "Leave It to Beaver", "The Bob Newhart Show", & "Mary Hartman" so it wouldn't surprise me if they also did one for "The Jeffersons". It's kind of hard to believe that this show is FINALLY getting the treatment it deserves! One for seasons 1+2, one for seasons 3+4, one for seasons 5+6, one for seasons 7+8, one for seasons 9+10 and one for season 11. They might put the bonus disc in the season 11 case instead of putting it in a slim case. That's what they did for the All in the Family complete series set. They put the bonus disc in the season 9 case for that show. FuriosityShell 08-10-2014, 10:16 AM What I don't like is how all of these fans are moaning and groaning about the fact that Shout! is putting out a complete series set right now instead of seasons 7-11 individually. FuriosityShell 08-13-2014, 06:17 AM To the people complaining, would you rather that Shout! release the complete series all at once and possibly come back to re-release the seasons in individual sets or would you rather they release season 7 and maybe season 8, only to abandon the show once again? JSP 08-13-2014, 07:01 AM To the people complaining, would you rather that Shout! release the complete series all at once and possibly come back to re-release the seasons in individual sets or would you rather they release season 7 and maybe season 8, only to abandon the show once again? The reason I think these Complete Series are coming out so often this year is because the powers that be began to realize selling individual seasons of DVDs wasn't going to be as profitable as they thought, hence the reason so many incomplete series are on DVD. However they wisely realized diehard fans would be willing to pay money for a complete set. The people complaining Season 7 through 11 never came out misunderstand....it's either this complete series or nothing, because if sales were so robust in the first 6 seasons in the first place we would have seen 7 through 11 back in 2007. Therefore let's be grateful they've decided to market complete series sets. If you love the show so much, pay it gladly and recognize this is the best it's going to get. myowndrownedworld 08-13-2014, 07:24 AM I wonder if any of the surviving cast members will be asked to do any new interviews or even audio commentaries. Kasey 08-15-2014, 01:19 PM The reason I think these Complete Series are coming out so often this year is because the powers that be began to realize selling individual seasons of DVDs wasn't going to be as profitable as they thought, hence the reason so many incomplete series are on DVD. However they wisely realized diehard fans would be willing to pay money for a complete set. Also, don't forget that these sets are Shout Factory's bread-and-butter. They are not a major studio with limitless material to release. As an independent, they are forced to license everything and SO much TV-on-DVD is already out there, they must keep digging deeper to find profitable releases. This Complete Series strategy is obviously working for them since we've had Bob Newart, Dobie Gillis, Barney Miller, Hill St. Blues, Mary Hartman in recent years and thankfully they seem to be on a roll. I think the trend will continue as long as they are making money. tlc38tlc38 08-15-2014, 01:33 PM Also, don't forget that these sets are Shout Factory's bread-and-butter. Stop it! My only concern is that the episodes are UNCUT from season 7 to 11 Robert 13 08-18-2014, 04:12 PM Is there any chance that the 4 episodes of "Checkin In" will turn up as bonus features on this DVD set? On "AITF", they added a few bonus episodes from shows associated with the series. And I believe "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" as well as "Barney Miller" also had bonus seasons or episodes from spin-off shows. (Though I am not a fan so didn't buy those last two). But this would seem an ideal opportunity to release them and probably the only chance for them to see an official release. Would definitely make the set more appealing. Johnny be good! 08-20-2014, 02:14 PM I'll just give the individual sets I own to a good cause and buy this complete series. I'm so excited! And it only took 7 years. BigManMike 08-20-2014, 02:14 PM I wonder if any of the surviving cast members will be asked to do any new interviews or even audio commentaries. I highly doubt Damon Evans or Jay Hammer would provide anything here. Pretty much everyone else is gone. Johnny be good! 08-20-2014, 02:15 PM Hard to believe most are now gone. faraj 08-23-2014, 03:00 AM I'm not interested in re-buying what I already own. I only want the remaining seasons. They better releases those seperately. Otherwise this just proves that buying individual seasons when they first come out does nothing but penalize you for not waiting for a complete series. Well, you can sell your individual sets, and that'll pay for at least part of the complete series box set. lj01 09-05-2014, 11:39 AM https://www.shoutfactory.com/tv/comedy/the-jeffersons-the-complete-series-the-deee-luxe-edition Check out the bonus features! boechsner 09-05-2014, 01:16 PM Sure enough, Checking In will be included! https://www.shoutfactory.com/tv/comedy/the-jeffersons-the-complete-series-the-deee-luxe-edition Check out the bonus features!
