View Full Version : Short-lived Sitcoms that aired in reruns
littletydramon 08-03-2014, 09:28 PM I have some early TV Guides and looking at one from 1990, I realized E/R, the one season sitcom from '84 had reruns on Lifetime apparently. so this has me wondering what other short-lived network shows got reran on cable channels in the early 90's?
Zoneboy 08-03-2014, 09:32 PM When Things Were Rotten was reran on Comedy Central.
Mr. Television 08-03-2014, 10:03 PM Lifetime also aired Goodnight Beantown and Day by Day.

Do you know when they aired this?
I've also heard over the years they aired The Charmings before they were called "Comedy Central". No idea if this is true.
Besides just curiosity, this would be good to know because better quality copies of these shows may be out there that means.
Dr. Jazz 08-05-2014, 07:13 AM I remember seeing "Duet" on Lifetime many years ago. Also Odyssey (now Hallmark) aired reruns of "Sister Kate" and Comedy Central aired "Police Squad" and "Working Stiffs" several years back.
BET aired reruns of "Baby, I'm Back", "Sanford", "Thea" and "Out All Night"

And you thought cable networks such as Nick at Nite and TBS, or local independent stations, screen a lot of reruns. Check out some of the moldy oldie titles on the daily lineup of Comedy Central, the laugh-around-the-clock network that joined Baltimore City's United Artists Cable system today (on Channel 50).
Among sitcoms past, you can catch "Love American Style," "The Lucy Show," "That Girl," "Rhoda," "Sergeant Bilko," "C.P.O. Sharkey" or "McHale's Navy" every weekday. On weekends you can even find things more obscure, including Mel Brooks' briefly aired Robin Hood bomb, "When Things Were Rotten" (at 7:30 a.m. Saturdays) and the silent-movie clip series "Fractured Flickers" (8:30 a.m. Sundays).
TVFactFan 08-06-2014, 01:32 AM Comedy Central aired CPO Sharkey in 1991
LTCProductions 08-06-2014, 08:30 AM TV Land aired Joanie Loves Chachi a few times in the late 90s.
TVFactFan 08-06-2014, 06:58 PM Grady and Gloria aired on TV Land in 2002

Interesting note about "E/R," the one-season sitcom. Look at the credits; if they had the space, you would see George Clooney as one of the cast members...the same George Clooney who later appeared on the one-hour drama, also set in a hospital, titled "ER."
treky 08-12-2014, 02:32 AM I remember back in 1990 or 91 A & E showed POLICE SQUAD
and I remember some cable channel about the same time showed GLORIA-the short-lived spin-off of ALL IN THE FAMILY-on Sunday nights.

Adamantium 08-20-2014, 03:58 AM "Two of a Kind" (The Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen sitcom) was rerun for a while on ABC Family some years back. That show only had 22 episodes.
littletydramon 08-20-2014, 10:15 AM It seems alot of the early cable stations just wanted to fill their schedule, so they would buy up the rights to air all the syndicated and network canceled shows of the previous year.
Dave_L 08-21-2014, 10:24 AM In addition to E/R, I also recall Lifetime airing reruns of Open House (the 1-season show Duet transformed into), Easy Street (starring Loni Anderson), and Foley Square (starring Margaret Colin).

This was my first thought as well, and the channel was still known as Fox Family when it reran the show to death from October 1999 to November 2001 (which is when the channel became known as ABC Family and reran it about five more times after that!)
