buy a house?

Shouldn't he have saved the money he used to buy a ring to get something besides a one bedroom apt? I don't think I ever paid attention to this before and always thought they moved into a house lol

I know a man needs to be financially secure before he should get married but he shouldn't have to be required to buy a house BEFORE he asks a woman for marriage.

If owning one's own home was a requirement for marriage then no one would ever get married any more.

A lot easier to pay off a mortgage with two incomes instead of one.

Did you ever watch Three's A Crowd? Apparently Vicki had more money than Jack ever had. She let him borrow $8000 for his restaurant's sprinkler system. So it's a little archaic to say that the man has to be financially flush to ask for marriage.

I guess it's best if both parties are secure, but like JSP said, nobody would be married if that's all it was about.

A man needs to be able to at least support himself or have the means to do so before he gets married I think. However I don't think owning a house is a prerequisite for that. In fact, I wouldn't even consider buying a house until after I marry. You'd figure the woman would like some input on what kind of home she's going to live in anyway. A single person living alone doesn't really have a need for a house anyway.

It's just that Jack was talking about marriage and he moved to an apartment smaller than the one he was living in lol

But it was his own place as opposed to a shared place, right? I guess he thought he was moving on up in the world.
