"The Closer's" Kyra Sedgwick to Play Deputy Chief on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine"

EW reports that "The Closer" vet has landed a 2-episode arc on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" as Deputy Chief Madeline Wuntch, a longtime foil of Captain Holt. As part of a precincts-wide evaluation, Wuncth aims to take down the 9-9.

Sedgwick first appears in Episode 2.



The role marks Kyra Sedgwick’s first on-camera TV role since closing shop at "The Closer" in 2012. She currently exec-produces TNT’s "Proof", starring Jennifer Beals and debuting next year.

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" opens its sophomore run on Sept. 28.

"The Closer" vet Kyra Sedgwick returns to the force in an arresting guest stint beginning Oct. 5. Sedgwick will appear in two episodes of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" as Deputy Chief Madeline Wuntch, who shares an acrimonious history with Captain Holt (Andre Braugher).

"Kyra brings so much presence and gravitas to the role — exactly the traits needed to stand off against Andre Braugher," says executive producer Dan Goor. "And she pitched one of the funniest flashbacks that we've ever done!"

The Season 2 premiere airs Sunday, Sept. 28, 8:30/7:30c, on Fox.
